LLYT here! This video has nothing to do with turtles but I wanted to show you my other reptile’s setup. His name is Santiago and he is a veiled chameleon! Find what I use in this setup below:
NOTE: A chameleon should not be eating moss. Fake or real. Ignore that I said it is edible. It is not edible and could lead to impaction or other digestive issues. My cham does not eat the moss so it is not an issue in my enclosure. (credit to a fellow viewer who commented on my incorrect advice)
Checkout the links below to see the products I use in my setup. I am an Amazon Affiliate and receive a tiny commission if you use the amazon product links at no extra cost to you. Thank you in advance ;)

Please Read! I was incorrect about moss being an edible part of my cham's enclosure. It is not edible and while it may pass through a chameleon if ingested, it may get stuck in their digestive tract (impacted) which can be deadly. Please remove moss covered decorations if you find that your cham likes to eat it. Mine does not! Always learning and always striving for the best, Long Live Your Cham!

The Biodude has a lot of great items for a chameleon, such as: substrate, plants, and other items. Also, you should check out Dragon Strand ledges, which allows you to hang branches and vines all throughout your enclosure without having to poke holes in your screen. Hmm im a bit curious about your info and how he's so bright. My cage is the same size but it came with the display door and leds. Mine is a translucent veiled but he typical is only the neon color while sleeping. I hand mist and i live in a highly humid climate so I only use a humidifier during winter when the air is drier. I use a money tree and a umbrella and palm as well but my palm is dying and I wanted to try a artificial ficus I've seen some decently priced but i don't know if it will support my chameleons weight. My cage actually came with a trey that catches water at the bottom . Do you only mist with your system or use the drip method?
@LongLiveYourTurtle
@LongLiveYourTurtle 3 года назад
Hello! I don’t think Santiago is above a average brightness, maybe my camera gives him better looks ;) I use the mist king system to keep my cage humid enough since I live in desert like conditions. I use a drip plant for a constant water supply for my Cham, the mist helps coat the plants with drops to drink as well. When it comes to artificial plants it’s worth a shot, sometimes it’s too difficult to keep plants. Good luck and thanks for the comment!

@LongLiveYourTurtle

He has never gotten thermal burns from my setup. His coloration in this video is his normal coloration. As mentioned in another comment, he does not eat the moss and should not, you are right. Linear UVB bulb is a good option, maybe even better than mine, but the mercury vapor bulb gets the job done and is a very standard way to provide both heat and UVB into a cham enclosure.

Not true Chameleons are not nocturnal lizards and are not known to sleep at all during the day. ... At night they don't do anything besides sleep. They are not active, will not get up to walk around and will not eat. The darker the night, the better for a chameleon to sleep.

Great video! Absolutely, it's vital to emphasize that chameleons should never be fed moss, whether real or fake. Moss is not a suitable part of their diet and can indeed lead to serious digestive problems like impaction. Providing a proper, balanced diet of insects and the occasional fruit is essential for their health and well-being.

Screen, because they are susceptible to respiratory infections. You can also get a humidifier for the room. Also their reflection in the glass can cause them a lot of stress especially if it's a male and can even lower their lifespan.
@starviiess
@starviiess 3 года назад
@@kimberlydymek181 tysm!! Also how do I keep the heat in if it's screen?
@LongLiveYourTurtle
@LongLiveYourTurtle 3 года назад
Typically you would have your cage inside. The basking lamp should provide a heat gradient throughout the cage with the hottest point at the basking area. Just make sure the basking area temperature is correct. Otherwise the heat from the lamp should keep the remainder of the enclosure habitable. Just check temps around the cage.
