This whale approached our small zodiac with great curiosity and swam around and under the boat, popping up every now and then to see our adoring faces!
It's absolutely amazing how something so big can be so gentle and graceful. I feel like seeing this first hand would almost feel like a spiritual experience.
The whale has definitely had contact with humans before who probably had a scrub brush to scrape off the barnacles. The whale exposing itself in such a way made it look like thats what it wanted.
This was one of the best videotaping‘s I’ve seen of humpback whales, or any whales!!! I loved all the women’s voices! Plus the one man’s voice also! Everybody seems so joyous and happy and ecstatic to view this whale, this humpback!!! Love the gleeful talking & ooing & ahing & things that were said! Beautiful voices and beautiful people, watching a beautiful whale!!! Loved all the matching suits/snowsuits?! You all must’ve been on a paid outing/whale watching… And where were you all? Somewhere way north, or could it be even south/Antarctica?!
Thank you for this lovely reaction! It was one of the best experiences of my life. We were on an Antarctic wildlife cruise and we were as ecstatic as we sounded!
Always amazed at how careful these enormous whales seem around small vessels; what must be precision movement control when they are so closely, curiously engaged with us, but seem to 'respect'? our fragility, boat safety etc. Also, given they exhibit friendly contact, bumping etc when with other whales (esp humpbacks).
Yes, people ask me if I was frightened by this encounter but the answer is "Not at all!" We didn't ever feel in any danger. I think Humpbacks are especially wonderful.
They are very careful even when in playful mode. I have seen a video when a humpback whale lifted a tandem canoe with its people on it. Very gentle lifting it up, move for a couple meter, and slowly bring it down
Amazing that the whale knew to be very careful not to bump into the boat. What a graceful whale. I wanted to clean all the barnacles off so badly lol, I hate those stupid things. You were so lucky to have this experience. The sad part about whales being curious and friendly is the damn Japanese and others who hunt and kill the whales in large numbers. They need to be stopped.
Oh man I hope this is me one day. This sort of "up close and personal" with a humpback whale is one of the 2 top things on my bucket list. Oh boy, these creatures are just God's love swimming around in the ocean. And then there's how they save other animals from orca... oh boy, that's all I can say.
I hope it has happened for you. These are magnificent creatures, so graceful considering their size and truly gentle giants. I go every year and it never ceases to be amazing.
Yes, we were never worried that she would bump into us. It was a very moving experience, but you are right that it is worrying that the Japanese may benefit from this "friendliness" and kill her. I think that is why we were told not to touch her, so she wouldn't be persuaded to come close all the time. We appreciated that she did though!!!!
@@shirleymike2936 How did whales ever survive for so long without humans? think about it you want to help them get back and clean up garbage stop using plastic
Whales are very intelligent, they love any chance for someone or something to get those itchy barnacles off. Being the most amazong gentle giant in the ocean has its disadvantages. Id hate to be so itchy all the time! The doggies of the sea, sweet sweet creatures
You are so lucky.. My eye are watery. Love these creatures, seen so many similar videos, they never attempt to pumb into the vulnerable boates. Why can't their hunters have such a heart?
I absolutely love Whales! I have wanted to touch one for as long as I can remember. Would you mind sharing your thoughts and feelings on your own experience dearskate?
ik heb een helle mooi film van gezien ik vond de fiim erg indruk wekkend ik heb ge hoord dat ze vriendlijk zijn aan mensen en ik vond het ook zielige japanser zijn gemeen
For the many of you who accuse us of being stupid for not removing the barnacles, we were expressly asked not to touch her, so that she won't get used to human interaction. I don't think you could pull them off anyway without damaging her skin. All humpbacks seem to have many barnacles attached to them. You can't remove them all!
I think your getting grief from folk who take barnacles off of turtles and figure you can do the same to a whale I think sometime whale will scape against rocks and something time boats to get some off I'm sure if "Gloria " had want to to rid her self of some of them she would have bumped your she was getting so close I thought she might.
The whale: “Hey, get outta my bathtub.” People: “OoHh, look at that” The whale: “Here, I’ll spit on them and see if that works” People: “Ooooo, it blew water on us” The whale: “Well crap, that didn’t work” The whale: “Will you at least take these stinking barnacles off my nose?”
