The genius part about 270 is the fact that when his mom shows up he changes into a child. That passion that his mother had never left from shigaraki. He truly did appreciate his mother's love while also hated his father's oppressive darkness as proven by shigaraki's automatic decay of his father's hand and all for one (darkness incarnate) shows from his destruction and paves a way for shigaraki to join him. And the family holds him back. With his mother being on this throat(maybe voice or something) his dad on his face(identity) while nana
Is on the back of his head ( his heroic desires and reminder of his heroic potential) and he liberates him of all of those deep connections that holds him back from his current goal. Becoming the symbol of evil.
Finally someone that understands redestro as a character. Im sick of people saying he did a 180 for no reason. Great video, keep it up and you will be big someday!
Exactly, his quirk is literally emotion based, it's called stress for a reason, it further emphasizes the fact that quirks affect personalities, but his quirk made it even obvious for that. When his stress powers down, he acts like a dork with a smiley face, he expressions change when he's stressed, literally an emotion based quirk. He realized that he was basically fighting against the freedom that he sought for, shigaraki, just more than enough for him to power his stress down.
I wouldn’t call him spoiled more like sheltered by all for one he didn’t really have anything that made him stand out or his own goal but this arc made him into his own villian separate from all for one
I can't imagine what leap you'd have to make to see Shigaraki as spoiled. The guy was born with the ability to destroy, was abused purely because he admired heroes, killed his own dog completely by accident, along with the entire rest of his family, was taken in by a man who's sole goal was not to let him recover or move past the tragedy... but SIT IN IT. FOREVER. And all the while, was perfectly visible to the rest of society. And got ignored. If Shigaraki is spoiled, then nobody isn't.
MHA has always been a B or C tier manga for me. After this, and then the next arc, aswell as the current arc, I gotta say. It's a solid A tier manga for me now. but mostly because of this arc. It was just so good. And no, I don't think it's unfair saying that one arc makes it good, it's just that this arc was so good and changed so much for the whole story. Also, AMAZING analysis. This was great. Pointed out everything I loved about this arc. Just wish we get more of these arcs. Specifically only the villains for a few more arcs in the near future.

MHA Is a solid A for me. The character designs (I'm talking about the villains and Pro Heroes),the abilities/powers aren't common and the amazing plot twists.
First of all, amazing analysis. You stated so many of the great reasons why MVA is my fave arc in the series so far. The War Arc might change that though. Re-Destro’s character was amazing and honestly I felt a sense of relief when he gave up the leadership to Tomura bcoz Re-Destro seemed sad from the first time I saw him due to the burden he had been carrying. One thing I would like to highlight is that Horikoshi has pretty much concluded the whole story of MHA in his head and only makes slight changes to better the story. So this path had been set since the first chapter. The first part of MHA was designed to be a utopia as we are seeing it from the eyes of Deku who is a good and idealistic boy. Since the AFO vs AM fight we see the cracks within society and we see how flawed AM’s ideals were as it propagated a society that refused to change. The War Arc I believe is the finale of the Hideout Raid and MVA Arcs. The next thing is power scaling. I honestly do not care about power scaling in MHA bcoz the story isn’t about how strong you are but instead about what makes a hero. This question is the crux of MHA and it has been questioned and answered in so many different ways by the manga. This is why a lot of ppl were drawn towards Mirio instead of Deku bcoz no matter how strong Deku is, Mirio in the Shie Hassaikai Arc was more inspiring which was acknowledged by Deku himself. At the end of the day we always knew Deku was going to be OP with or without six quirks. Did anyone really think that Bakugou or Shoto were going to beat Deku who has AM’s power? The power ceiling is Deku and Shigaraki respectively. But it takes more than power to be the best. You need charisma, drive, strength and so many other factors which you highlighted here in the analysis. That is why the power scaling really doesn’t matter bcoz MHA is fundamentally not a battle shounen but instead something more. Problems aren’t solved by fists alone but through conviction and heart. Case and point are Stain’s defeat leading to the growth of villains and Eri being truly saved only after watching the school festival arc. Thats my take on MHA and its why me, who isn’t really a Shounen fan, looks forward with anticipation every week to the new chapter of MHA. Good day.
Another thing I would like to point out is that the reason why the Joint Training Arc felt so dragged out was bcoz of Horikoshi being sick and his assistants leaving. But despite fewer pages I would say that the artwork climbed up exponentially in this arc
I swear its always the smallest channels that put out the best content. This video was amazing. And while I disliked dabi, and compress background roles in the arc. I am more than happy with their mass roles in the war arc.
Incredible work on this dude! I haven't heard the interpretation that ReDestro wanted to push the burden of Destro onto Shigaraki but it does make sense I'd say. I'd love more of these mega analysises since you went into stuff I've not heard talked about (talking about the sushi scenes in relation to the story, the link between Shigaraki's religious imagery and the Creature Rejection Clan at the start of the arc)
Fantastic video, and I love your exploration of the villains, most importantly, Shigaraki! Also, fantastic art and animation; I didn’t expect you to go as far as to make all these brilliant and creative transitions in an analysis/video essay-it’s a welcome surprise. Hopefully more people check your video out. It’s a shame it’s so underrated and with little views. If you think about it both Deku and Shigaraki face both trial versions of each other in their respective arcs. Deku faces a narcissist with a quirk that can kill with a touch. Shigaraki faces a optimist who increases his power in percentages.
I can understand all the characters actually. I can see why Shigaraki was so mad. wouldn't you be mad too if you accidentally killed your family,were ignored by passersby when you had absolutely nowhere to go because those people only rely on others for everything,and you taken in by a twisted man who molded you into a bad guy. He probably whispered nonsense into his ears to fill him of this much hate too For Dabi I can also see why he'd be angry too. He was training to beat All Might everyday and then at one point he was practically told he just couldn't do it. He tried to destroy his brother because he felt like "he was the whole reason this happened to him" and ended up being ignored by his parents entirely. He was being forced to live a normal life now but felt that with training he could still do what his dad wanted. He also knew the story of what happened with his mother who was sold for money and told her that the only reason he was there was because of it. Fast forward he trained more and more and found out how to make his flames hotter and wanted to show his dad what he could do. He asks him to meet him somewhere but his dad didn't come which made him sad and angry at the same time. Over time as being a villain he says he's though about people who are losing their families etc. So much that it drove him insane. Now I'm not saying this is a good thing but I understand him Toga is another story. She wants to love people in her own way but the world sees her in a different light. She decides to run away because she was caught in the hall drinking the blood of a classmate she liked. She had nowhere else to go and had a weird liking for Stain which is who she was looking for but instead found somebody who actually hates him..that's how she got where she is. You can see that in her fight with curious they talk about how they've been looking for her and that she could have lived a normal life. Toga says that this is her normal life and she knows that nobody will except it ect. It's kinda sad honestly Twice has a ..very sad story honestly. He lost his whole family (to I don't know what) and then he accidentally hits someone with a bike/motorcycle (yeah I believe that was it) and it spreads on the news (don't know if the guy died or not but). It turns out that guy was someone a client of thiers knew and Twice got fired. No other jobs would take him out of the fear of losing costumers. He ended up using his quirk to steal because he was unable to make a living. His doubles started to think that they were real and there could only be one that was real so they fought until they died. Twice could feel his head splitting from quirk usage (maybe..I'm remembering as I go lol) . He began to think that he might be a double and he just doesn't know it yet. With nowhere to go he found a guy who introduced him to the league and they were the only ones who let him in. To him they were like family and he died just to make to make them happy.. This is gonna be insanely long so I better stop here lol I like the story line so much. It makes sense from every characters point. The fan base is what is really scratching at my leg and I hate it
1: dog is ok because that dog did nothing but kind to tenko and stand up though tenko dad. 2:she is less innocent because she said she stand beside tenko but she lying to her dad so she won't get hurt. And she never been hero because her parents both quickless mean she won't get quick. And way she did. 3:his mother is not so innocent because she didn't support her son and didn't stand up to her husband. 4: his grandparents are nothing but cowards because they had weak will and heart. Only nana had strong will and heart. 5: his father is 100% guilty. Because his own hatred though his mom and heroes and own fear that his family leave him Because he is fear being alone. He didn't realize that what he do is wrong. It was because of that karma give him a punishment by make tenko kill his own family and him.(all because all for one he is truly devil) They are reason their own actions that give birth to tomura shigaraki and death of tenko. (Also i know all for one raise tenko but they are reason for create tomura shigaraki and reason tenko get decay quick all because all for one give it to him. I know tenko is still alive but moment he kill his own father. Tenko was dead.)
Nana 100% screwed up as well. The best Nana could’ve done was explain to her son that she couldn’t be there cus someone wanted to kill him. The kid just lost his father, and then his mother dumps him w/o explanation. As for the whole quirk thing, we don’t have confirmation the quirk was given to him.
This is such an underrated video! You've perfectly highlighted all the aspects that made the MVA arc so great. I also really liked the parallels you drew between Shigaraki and Deku in regards to the Overhaul arc as I feel like most people don't think about that arc under this lens.

Good work ! But the way you speak of "quirk evolution" and how you think Horikoshi came up with this idea during the joint training arc is untrue. The idea of quirks possibly not being fully understood until later by a person as been presented by the author in chapter 8. Defining the exploration of this fundamental concept as childish was a bit weird when it seems like you missed that or forgot about it.

What I meant by childish was that the author responded the backlash from his previous arc in a violently comical way (at least, in my eyes). But you're right, I could have phrased it better throughout the video. I'm sorry for the confusion.
Pedro Caffé I think the backlash you are referring to was primarily amongst Western fans and I honestly do not think that would matter to Horikoshi because the manga’s run is determined by Japanese fans. Also it is necessary to understand that the man has had a plan since the beginning and he is telling a story on a weekly basis and patience is therefore important for the fans.

And as I said in the comment above, I do understand he had it planned since the beggining, I never said he didn't. I was always referring to the impression it caused among Western fans. And although the main target is obviously the Japanese people, I do believe the impact caused in the west has some level of influence. Especially due to the mangas popularity in the US and its official distribution on international sites, like Viz Media and/or Manga Plus. I really don't think it's a coincidence that we got the Villain Academia Arc (which is considered one of the best) right after the Joint Training Arc (which is considered one of the weakest). But I do agree that patience is important for the readers.
Pedro Caffé Agreed, I don’t think its a coincidence I do think he planned it from the start and not simply because of backlash. I mean he has got backlash for a lot of things like the Pro Hero Arc but he did not really stop Endeavour’s redemption arc because of it. So I think his manga and characters are really important to him and writing it in a satisfying way is important to him no matter the backlash. And taking risks is a key factor to writing a great story. Lets just trust the man for now. He has given some phenomenal story arcs after all.
@@pedrocaffe5682 I always thought we got JT and then villain arc cuz JT introduced the fact that Deku was gonna get more quirks, while establishing the hero kids for their inevitable contributions in the war arc. Then immediately after we get Shigaraki’s growth as he fully realizes his own quirk by overcoming his trauma and the promise of obtaining more quirks through experimentation and AfO. It just feels like both arcs were meant to hype up both sides of the conflict.
Wanted to clarify. I think the art itself is incredible. But bolding the text and making Shiggy a more prominent figure definitely would be more eye catching. I really wanna see this video succeed my friend, these are just my 2 cents!
This made me realize that even before all this season five drama, the anime never did Shigaraki justice. They really downplay how scary he was supposed to be. And even subdued his revenge on Overhaul scene.

I agree with almost all of your point, the only things I'd say I disagree with is that you consider a bad thing that he include connection to the movie, which I consider a good thing. As well as when you were talking about the ""fiasco""" of the OFA with the six quirks, and that the quirk awekening is an explanation for that, which I feel like you make light of them(maybe that wasn't your intention but I'll try to develop my point), when this two quirk awekening and OFA are completly different phenomenos, OFA being always depicted since the chap AM explained the origin to Deku that was a Combination of 2 that became 1, and then the process continued always OFA fusing with the succesor quirk just that we see the power is stored in OFA and converted in strengt, but when Deku has it, the quirk passes the point of singularity, making Deku able to accesses the past users quirk, because OFA is basically a speed up version of the evolution of quirks that pass through generations. and the only problem I thought when we first saw it is that could make Deku OP without effort, but Horikoshi showed us that he knows how to manage a power, and make it slow burn with a satisfacctory feel that Deku earned it rather that just gifted without effort While the quirk awekening is just a version of unlocking the real potential that a quirks has thaks to hellish training, so I don't think one quirk awekening explains the development of OFA, just show us that OFA it needs to be that stong to keep with how strong the PLF quirks are. and the last thing I disagree is that the LOV could keep up with an army, which in MHAverse the numbers don't matter quality is always better than quantity, an dhas been showed in that AM could keep up with everything, and obviously how versatile is a quirk a strong factor, in which I'd said 4/5 of the league member had a great advantage over all the army members, excluding Redestro I personally think MVA is the best arc of MHA, but every arc has it faults since everything that is created by human isn't perfect. the abruption that the fight ends, this in regard with Toga's and Dabi's fight having anticlimatc end (though it has sense just didn't feel good), that the Meta liberation army at the begining felt like really i a pedestal but it felt a little underwhelming in the end(with this a reffer more it felt maybe one of LOV member was gonna die,but it result more the LOV wapping most of them, I exclude Redestro of this since his deveolopment and epiphany seem that have the most as you said in the video ). Thank you for your reply! Well, everything I said in the video is obviously just my personal opinion. About the movie, I just can’t really put the anime and the manga on the same pedestal. Don’t get me wrong, I think the adaptation is fantastic, but I simply prefer the original work. Also, I think connecting both medias opens a whole uncanny valley that only ends up giving place to new unecessary plotholes. The movies should be their own thing in my eyes, but idk, maybe that's just me. When I used the word "fiasco", I was just trying to express the impression the moment made on the fandom in general. I don't think what happened is a bad thing at all, maybe I did at first, but definitely not anymore (especially when I was making this video). And it wasn't my intention to make light of the quirk awekening in any way. I'm sure we're all aware of how OFA works, but the argument you made about point of singularity and quirk evolution being different concepts is very interesting. I always interpreted one as a consequence of the other, so I might have messed up the video in that regard. That's a mistake on my part. If I ever make another video, I'll be sure to pay more attention to it, so thank you for that! Oh, and I wouldn't say that Toga's fight ended abruptly, in fact I found it very satisfying. Her confrontation with Kizuki is iconic and definitely contributed to the identity of this arc. Dabi's fight was my main problem, however, Geten simply stopped attacking him to help Re-Destro. And as you said, this is the MHA universe, and in this universe, quality surpasses quantity. I said in the video that realism is not something we should apply to shonen, so yeah, of course the League could keep up with an army. That's what they did after all! Hahahah! I don't know if we could apply the same argument to All Might though. Probably yes, but we don't know enough about his golden age to understand what kind of dangers he faced at his time (other than AFO, of course).
I gotta say this. I'm sorry but you said that the Dog had no point but just make the backstory darker. I disagree with this. As you said before, no one came to help Shigaraki even though they kept telling him to Stop this stop that, the Dog was the only thing that loved him and cared for him. When Tenko got beat up, the dog barked at the dad, When Tenko was crying, The Dog stayed by Tenko and hugged him. Making his death even sadder than the rest. The only person that loved him back was his pet.
@@JPJgamer I fail to see how it's a reach to say Mon's purpose was to be the only one Tenko could trust in a world where everyone enables Kotaro's actions. Especislly considering he was a kid, it makes sense that he would find companionship in a pet.
Also you failed to mention tomura's ambition resonating with toga. It subtle but pretty much encapsulates why she stayed with shigaraki. He promises to destroy the world while letting his comrades keep their dreams after toga asks him if that includes her desires. Toga says that shigaraki will destroy the things she doesn't like. I.e the liberation army at the time. Which pretty much means that tomura will create a new society for her that she likes. Like a sculptor of destruction. Which is why I'm wondering how she will React to tomura's awakening

Another paralell between Deku and Shigaraki is that because Shigaraki did not manifest a quirk by 5 years old his father seemed to think he was quirkless and wanted to dissaude his son's drram

Sorry to tell you this but you wasted a lot of time praising and analyzing a series that is actually terrible. I have a playlist on my channel of videos people have made showing many problems with the series, and several of them are fans. So if you want to hear a different opinion and people make actually good criticisms of the show which no one else seems to make, I suggest you watch it. Or you can just keep listening to people say only good things about this show.
I don't think the series is terrible, but taste is subjective. Just because I made an entire video praising an aspect I like about it doesn't mean I have zero issues with it. And sorry to tell you, but I've already watched several of the videos from your playlist and only a few of them have constructive criticism (Like Nux Taku's Deku analysis). Some of them aren't even criticisms at all, they're just playful (like the "Quirk Questions" series). Others are simply personal impressions and opinions, like most of season 4 reviews. Which is not to say I necessarily disagree with them, they're just not that constructive. I don't think the series is perfect (as I pointed out in my video), but I do think it has good enough attributes that deserve to be discussed and analyzed. People can enjoy whatever the fuck they like dude, even if it is inherently shit.
