That accent though. Seem to have many comments saying that is scottish accent and one comment saying this was "rude" so i knew it was scottish just said it as a joke
So happy for him! He's adorable and I love his rendition of "Wellerman". It gives me chills! I love listening to sea shanties there's a group I especially love that performs at Renaissance Festivals.
Lol my dad got really into the sea shanty corner of tiktok a while ago and then this became really big and I think he was kinda frustrated all the sea shanties he was seeing were related to this one in some way. I’m a bit shocked how big it got. Good for this guy for finding success from it.
So very proud of you Nathan Evans!!! My family came from Scotland to America by way of an English lord as an indentured servant not free. So happy to have found your music and that you make Scotland proud!!!🥂👍🏻
So happy he’s going places, he deserves it and sea shanties are awesome! Pleased he mentioned a brief history of sea shanties and their origins as it will encourage others to learn about them instead of calling them “tik tok songs” as some do. Although I’m sure it’s innocently meant, it makes my blood boil just a tad
I attend a zoom meeting that is international. The Scottish accents can get so thick I cannot understand what they are saying. It's so strange because I know we are speaking the same language but I can catch a word or two in between 😂.
@@Ryan_Rail mate The Longest Johns didn't invent it either, it's an existing sea shanty that dates back to the 1800s. that band together with Nathan Evans both helped to re-popularise it again
I somehow got roped into ShantyTok when I was down with Covid a couple months ago and I couldn’t be more glad I found it. Pretty sure it helped me retain shreds of my sanity. Thanks, Nathan!🏴☠️
Our year 4 class had to sing this in the playground on the ship. Other years joined with us. It was for music class, loved it. We had like basses and we were grouped for different roles. Schools should do sea shanties, I miss those times :(
Omg I would love if our school done that, for some reason the sea shanties have always been apart of me, but sadly our music teacher doesn't move on from queen or the Beatles or the cringe pop songs -_- xD
@@dyl4n0w3n8I said out of all the accents in the English language, it's called speaking English. I am from Hawaii, we also have a different type of English accent. Go watch Naruto and calm down weeb 😉
Love him, think he's brilliant and the shanties are great too. He looks so young to be singing sea shanties. Remember singing what shall we do with a drunken sailor when I was younger, does that count as a sea shanty?
