Hey mate. If you drill into the wall and it crumbles, just drill a slightly bigger hole than you need, get Polyfilla (or something compareable), mix a bit up and put it in the hole. Stick a dowel in afterwards, let it dry and then just screw a screw in the wall. This works perfectly fine most of the times. If your walls are hollow or stuffed with isolation, there are special dowels you can get at any DIY Market. Hope that helps. Thanks for the video.

This made me rethink the way VR systems will work at home. The Vive is really more of a HiFi system, much like a 7.1 surround system that you have to install and make sure the ROOM actually supports it. The Oculus on the other hand, seems more like a PC peripheral that wont take up too much space and will work for pretty much everyone, because it is limited to standing and sitting.

This looks so awesome. I've been a skeptic of VR since Carmack started talking about it 4 years ago, but now I thing I'm getting around to it. I quite dig it. Though I'm waiting at least 3 years before I get such a headset. Wait for the technology to get better and wait for more VR games to come out.

Does any one know if the final version has a mic built in, I know they talked about adding one but given its so close to release Id like to know if it got put on or not, would be hard to do lets plays without one since you move so quickly I imagine any one added after the fact would get in the way or slip off.

Thanks for the video! I expect my Vive to arrive early April, good to know that it's quite easy to set up. But I agree with you on the games, seems like most of them are nice for half an hour and then you want to try something different. There is no real game there at the moment that will keep you busy for a month or longer. I am pretty heavy into simracing so I guess that's what I am going to play but for other people there is no real reason to buy this thing now.

How long are the cables for the trackers? And what type of connections are they?

THESE ARE VERY IMPORTANT! So that's why I placed one of them on the edge of a box that is already on the very edge of a shelf (because you gotta make room for your watch dogs and bioshock infinite statues) and put the other in direct sunlight on top of a precarious stack of empty boxes. It would take a freak act of god like a sneeze or a gentle breeze coming through window to fucking destroy my 800 dollar piece of equipment.

I'm getting my vive today. I was wondering how well this ghetto setup of the lighthouses work? Do they lose tracking frequently?

I have a question about cable length (which no reviewer has answered so far). I will need to setup my play space in a different room from where the pc is. Can I use a 10m HDMI and USB cable going from the pc to the connection box? do I need an active USB cable? does it work at all? (the HDMI cable shouldn't be a problem)

How long are the cables of the lighthouses?

Jack if you want to attach the on to the walls you can use 3M command stips. They just stick onto the walls very strong as well. They don't leave any marks on the walls when you wake them off as well.

Jack you can use that super tape, the 3M one, I use them on my walls to put paintings/pictures/boards... they are really good. Hope it can help you.

Is the headphone jack on the HMD (not the short adapter cable) 3.5mm?

Jack, get some 3M Mounting Strips. They should hold the light boxes quite nicely. ...and maybe a tape measure while you're at it.
