I can't imagine why anyone would leave mean comments on your channel. You have a ton of good planty imformation and a killer sense of humor too! One of my favorite channels! Be well, be happy, be blessed.
I'm so glad your RU-vid channel is doing well, it has helped me soooooo much with my houseplants and I love the shopping trips. Ignore any bad comments as you are brilliant...informative and with a great dry sense of humour. Keep it up.
🍃 This was FUN! Thanks for sharing with us! I wasn’t expecting to cry because all I do is laugh with your videos…. It touched me when you said you didn’t think you were good enough for RU-vid…. And you just quit your full time job last month!!!!!! I didn’t think I’d come to Sheffield’s channel for plant care tips, laughs AND motivation!!!! 🫶🏽🫶🏽🫶🏽🫶🏽🫶🏽🫶🏽🫶🏽🫶🏽🫶🏽🫶🏽🫶🏽🫶🏽🫶🏽🫶🏽
Glad to know you are doing this full time. I'm in southeast USA and have learned ao much about caring for my plants from watching your show. I'm not one to watch many RU-vid videos, so I appreciate the way you get to the point. I do like the way you are precise and concise. I find that so very helpful.
I really like all the information you have to sharing. Your very honest and simple to understand. Thank you for your helping me with my🎉plants. I love all my plants.
Hi Richard, nice to meet you. I had floor plants when my son was little,😂 he used to drive his little cars in the dirt and hide his soldiers in the leaves. I'd find them when I was watering my plants. Then when he needed more space, he'd take the earth out and put it on the rug 😮 and drive his cars there. He's 23 now I've been wondering 🤔 about getting floor plants again.
Years ago, my son and his father used to always find a reason to drive over my strawberry plants. It was a disrespectful thing to do. I gave up trying to plant something outdoors.
I enjoyed learning more about you. I love that you didn't think you'd do well on RU-vid. Yet here you are...KILLING IT! Congratulations on quitting your job and following your passion. That takes courage, I admire that. Although I live in Atlanta, Miami is my favorite place here in the US. Thanks for all of the great content!
I just had to tell you that my Monstera Deliciosa finally made a leaf with 10 fenestrations and THREE HOLES!!! I’m so pleased! You wished me lucked and it worked! Thank you!
I am much more of an outdoor gardener than house planter, but Richard is such a matter-of-fact, funny, corny, kind of youtuber with a wonderful accent and just a lot of great tips for anyone who loves plants that I watch every video. Thank you!
Thanks Richard, for this video! I love your deadpan humour. I'm Australian born and I love the way you tackle the tricky RU-vid videos and debunk them. I've learnt a LOT from you. Cheers from the countryside of rural Victoria Australia 🌴🌱🍁
Congratulations 🎉 👏 You've had an interesting journey to this chapter in your life story. It's always interesting to take a look back at times and see just where we've been and where we are. Yours has been very diverse! I love your humor and your attention to the details. Put in a pond that will distract your three year old, he'll be so dazzled by that he won't care about the plants 😂. 🪴🌿🐦🦎🐸🐢🐟🏞️
Thank you so much I appreciate you being so open and honest. Truly enjoyed this video. Spent a week in Sheffield and it too was an interesting city. Sincerely, Violet
There are many informative plant channels around, but your candor, humor and humility place you and your channel higher than the rest. I’ve been an outdoor gardener most my life, but i’m blaming covid for turning my bathroom …well and bedroom..into an atrium. Thanks to you, I am armed with grow lights, moisture meter, ph tests, gnat stickies and rounded the rest of the space out with heaters and humidifiers. My favorite plants: Alocasias and Monsteras-(I need the monstera to boost my green thumb confidence to handle how temperamental the alocasias are)Also like calatheas, marantas and peace lillies-i guess the jungle look best describes it. Thank you for a thoroughly enjoyable space to learn about plants. You bring a smile🪴💕
You have become my absolute FAVORITE!! I can just click on your videos and let them auto-play for hours while I'm doing chores or messing with my plants.. It's the best!! Thanks for all you do ✌🏽❤😊
I find your videos besides being interesting, captivating and instructive also very amusing. Love the way you present emotions and situations. In the video "My weird Journey to being a Plant RU-vidr' you mentioned that the Philodendron Pink Princess is an expensive favourite of yours. I happen to have one in my collection and would be happy to send you a couple of healthy cuttings for you to propagate. I do need instructions on how to properly box and send them to you.
Richard how delightful to learn these things about you. Thank you for sharing. I am in Key Largo US and have been enjoying all your tips and sense of humor. Never realized you were so tall! Again thank you for sharing a bit of yourself❤
Your channel is the reason why I started to really love and take care of my house plants. I really love Alocasia , I've planted 5 corm, and 3 have roots now. ❤
Succession! YES! So sad it’s over. I don’t know when you filmed this so I won’t ruin the finale for you. Yes to Breaking Bad too! Thanks for sharing your life with us, Richard. 😊
Glad to see you still like Everything Plants--you once commented on a video there and that was how I found you. I like both of your channels. Keep putting out the stuff you do and I will definitely keep watching!
Hi Richard! I just got into plants fairly recently and found your videos. I love your content and this was great to get to know you a bit more on a personal level. I’ve been wondering about your accent too!
I love you’re channel, my mom loves plants and I grew up around them and now that I have my own home watching your videos make me feel at home and I learn so much from you, not only about plants but about being patient. Thank you 🙏🏽
I don't usually watch these types of videos but I started and could not stop. It was so relaxing I thoroughly enjoyed the calmness with which you spoke, the honesty that you showed when you put yourself and your family in this very public forum. Thank you and Best Wishes. Keep the plant tips coming.
I am a fairly new viewer...I have to admit that I have the same love for plants..I love to shop in the ICU areas of Lowe's or wherever ...Lol .. love the idea of getting them back to their best selves...I so appreciate your channel and now your back story. Although I love your Q&A ..I love the knowledge that you share. I am 76 yrs. young and I am still learning about my love of plants. TY so much.
I love your channel and have learned so much. I have 43 plants currently, and I start my early Saturday mornings catching up with you while I sip my coffee, best ever. Keep up the great work!
My momma always started Sweet potato vines. Like you do an avocado. :Let one end sit in a jar and root. Makes a pretty plant. This was very interesting. I find you very likeable - you know what you are talking about. I really enjoy it. Thank you for sharing with us.
Thank you sharing a bit more about yourself and your family. I've been watching your videos for a few months now. I love your sense of humor and really like the way you present information. It looks like you found your niche. I hope your channel continues to grow and wish you and your family all of the best.
Your channel became an instant fave. Thank you for sharing more about you as an individual, is truly delightful to get to know you better. Much green love from an Argentine in Vancouver island! 🇨🇦🇦🇷🇬🇧
Thank you so much Richard, I’m glad you’ve told us all your name. I really really appreciate your taking the time and effort to bring us all this video. I really really can’t imagine anyone being rude to you at all. Your videos are fabulous and fantastic too, and I really really love 🧡 them all. I find you incredibly easy to watch and listen to as well. You’re my go to video for houseplants every time. I do watch others too. Pleased stay safe and well too xxxx Mags
Thank you, Richard! nice hearing a tad about you. I live appx 45mins from Tampa, Fl. We are entering in our rainy season, so that waters my plants on my porch. I have lots of light from windows. quite a lot of plants dotted around the apartment. I enjoy 'Kill this Plant' & love 'Planterina'
Thanks Richard Its really good to get to know more about you. You're in my top 3 plant channels on RU-vid. Thanks for sharing your videos & keep up all the good work you're doing. You're well received!🌷
I love your plant videos. In fact, I follow many of your suggestions. I purchased the Easy Peasy Indoor Plant Food you suggested and the tap water conditioner. Thank you for providing us good, solid info that we can use to keep our cherished plants healthy.
After viewing this video, I found a nursery online and purchased a Philodendron Pink Princess. I received it yesterday, and I am thrilled. It was described as a 3-inch plant, but indeed, that could only have defined the size of the pot because this plant is a very nice size. I am in the United States, and the cost was only $20.00, including shipping! I love your channel.
Congratulations on making your channel into a career. I love your plant content - it's practical and I have adopted many of your ideas. The tips and tricks on propagation and growing plants in water have been particularly useful and fun to do.
You have such an awesome personality and a very likable person. I don't know why some people would have unkind words to say about you. I can't imgine that. Your information is so helpful! I learned a lot from you. I love your beautiful plants. What I love the most is when you say " your babies" that shows me how much you love your plants. Because I am the same way they're are "babies" I care from them daily I even talk to them sometimes lol, yes i sounds crazy but I'm not lol. I love plants and gardening. It's like a therapeutic for me when I look after them.
What a lovely little “coffee chat” to get to know you, Mr. Richard! You are def one of my favorite RU-vidrs these days and I enjoyed this video very much. I have a “mutt accent” too. I was born in South Wales, and we moved often as our Dad was in the British Army. Most of my time in the UK was spent in West Yorkshire (our Mum’s stomping grounds), but we also spent time in Portsmouth (Dad’s from Portsmouth), and other places in between… Germany too! When we immigrated here to NY (long island), my English accent was loved my tgecsvhool kids but it got annoying quickly, so I learned to speak with an American accent…. My British tongue comes out when I am excited, lol…. It is always pointed out with surprise when people hear it…. Because they already realize that I am ‘“not from around here “, lol
Thank you for bringing us into your home and sharing some things about yourself. It’s nice to know that we share many things in common besides our love of plants. Congratulations on making the jump to doing RU-vid full time. Looking forward to many more great videos.
I think if you're going to do a day in the life vlog, you should do a day in when you're doing all of your plant chores or on a day that you have a lot of plants to water and care for.
Many thanks Richard, getting to see the "human side" is a game changer, I believe, and you get to widen your interest from planting ideas to personal interest in the gardener and his garden. Thanks again from Karmiel, Israel.
It was great learning a bit about your hobby and life. I too have a passion for indoor tropical plants way back since my early teens almost 40 years now, and I enjoy learning how others in my hobby get on about it. Well congratulations on your RU-vid success, and wish you and yours all the best. Cheers from zone 7 Oklahoma, USA. 🌴
Very enjoyable video and very interesting. Inspirational as usual❤ I was always embarrassed with the amount of plants I have, but you always make it seem ok😅
CONGRATULATIONS on your career change. Really enjoyed your Q&A. Thank you for so MUCH plant help!!!!. I was telling my husband that I like/choose whose video I watch sometimes based on the sound of that person's voice. I get a lot of headaches. Your content, thoughts, suggestions, and calm voice make it easy for me to watch ALL of your videos. I believe you to be an honest person in your recommendations and over all content regard PLANTS. I have 16 PLANTS. Also, I asked my husband not to buy Bananas, they attract little, tiny flying bugs. Yes i have the Yellow butterflies in my pots now!!!! So much to learn. I used to buy a plant google care info and go from there. I found out that is not enough information and my plants died. With IG and FB in two months I have learned a great deal. I feel more confident now. I do agree that we should start with smaller plant purchases. I have had a veggie garden few years ago, it was a Fantastic Garden I even grew a few watermelons and pumpkins. I also watch BBC as well. I watch more of the British TV Series then American shows. Glad you all got a chance to come to USA : ) May God continue Blessing you and your Family.
Richard, I loved your Q & A video! I love your dry sense of humor too. Wow, 6'6" huh? You are very tall! I'm 5'3" so, I'd fall over backwards trying to look into your eyes. LOL. I've learned a lot from you and enjoy your videos a lot. The fact that you always answer your commenters shows you haven't gotten "too big for your britches" ( an American Southern saying ) LOL
I've learned a lot about plants from you. I realized I've been killing my plants through the years. Now I'm trying to nurse a couple of them along . I live in the northeastern part of the US, which also has a dark gloomy weather pattern. Thank you for your help.
You are a very interesting person and quite tall. Wow. I really enjoy your content. I've learned so much from you. Keep up the great work. Have a great weekend.😊
Thank you for sharing with us. I live in California and find your channel very informative and also entertaining. So glad you made a big success of being a RU-vidr!
In the US, "garden" usually refers to a vegetable garden which is a patch of land on which vegetables are grown. We say "flower garden" to refer to a patch of land on which flowers are grown. A "yard" in the US is what is called a "garden" in the UK. Just in case anybody wants to know!
Interesting. You've done great with this channel! I am going to go get my compost and perlite today. :-) I have rooted some pieces of my sweet potato vines I bought for my yard - lots of them. :-) And a few basil... and some peppermint. Gosh, I think it's a fluke - or should I say beginners luck. I stuck a few other pieces of plants just right down in the dirt in the pots - and they GREW! Oh my gosh. I couldn't believe it. Still alive too! :-)
Cool to learn more about you Richard, funny that you too are form the south, I’m actually from Margate originally now living in Sheffield, been here since 89’ - Well done making RU-vid your career, I’m loving your videos - keep up the good work
you could do a vlog while doing the checks on your plants with tips for the different plants (e.g. light needs, water needs, maybe plants who don't need to be fertilized as much) Love, that I found your channel - it helped me so much so far :)
I know you have mentioned at least a few times how you’re not a fan of dracaena’s but isn’t that a big dracaena right next to you or if not, what is it? Also I highly recommend learning to play the guitar. It isn’t too late to learn it. I learned during Covid and I’ll never look back. So many benefits to playing an instrument. It’s very meditative and good for the brain. Anyway, love your channel! I’m a long time plant enthusiast, since well before the pandemic, and I’m so glad so many other people seem to share my obsession now. Looking forward to more of your videos.
Love your dialogue. Great commentary. Plants, plants and more plants, loving it your detailed houseplant tours and experiments. Curious do you have a science background?
Loved learning more about you. Any chance you’d show us your wife’s outdoor garden? Haven’t seen all your videos yet but if you haven’t done pepperomia care, could you? You’re doing a great job!
I absolutely love this type of content from you a blog would be definitely amazing but also you don't have to fix what's not broken if you get what I mean I love the fact that you keep it so real
Thank you for letting us get to know you. Your videos are interesting and informative and entertaining. London accents are always nice to hear when one speaks. I live in northeast US. Glad to hear you visited some key spots in the US. I hope to visit London oneday.
Hi! I don't comment much on RU-vid, but I've been watching your channel since almost the beginning. I enjoy your commentary and look forward to your videos. So, I just want to say Congratulations on your success with RU-vid and your plants, and I hope you have even more success in the future.
This was just wonderful... learning about the human behind Mr. Sheffield!!! It's an awesome pleasure to meet you, Richard! My RU-vid feature is on 'Plant One On Me': Episode: 237... I recently discovered your channel, maybe 3 weeks ago. In that time, I've learned even more about my plants. It's your dry humor that keeps me tuned in. Sometimes, I just watch your videos on repeat, lol. I'm sure I've seen all of them. I enjoyed Monty Python and The Benny Hill Show, so go figure, lolz. Also, I've been shopping in your Amazon (US) store. My planty supplies have increased in quality. If I wasn't already, you sent me even further down the house plant rabbit hole. I look forward to seeing more of your content. Best of luck, health, and prosperity to you, Mrs. Sheffield and your family. 🙏🏽🪴👋🏽💚🌿🌱
Love your channel! Your style, honesty, straight to the point advice and sense of humour is awesome! I wish you continued success, keep up the great vids❤
I really enjoy your videos and the subtle humor! I've learned a lot from your work. Also, it's always nice knowing that youtube folks have real lives outside their channels. 😊
