The best trivia from this movie: Swingline actually didn’t make a red colored version of their stapler. But because of the success of this movie, masses of office workers demanded to have a red Swingline stapler. And they complied, and it became their best selling stapler of all time.
@schainaubb
@schainaubb 14 дней назад
That begs the question: How did they get the original red stapler? If they painted it - why did they go through the trouble of painting it red!?

The problem with the complaints about cubicles is that management went”we can save you from cubicles and put you in an ‘open office’ where you don’t have walls and sit right next to your neighbor with no separation in your workspaces and no assigned cube. It’ll save us money and it will be funny to watch you try to work on the phone while you have someone two feet away having a completely different conversation on the phone.” I love this movie, but I feel like it contributed to a worse working environment in a small way by opening up this conversation for misinterpretation. The cubes were a problem, but the open office plan is way worse. Wait, what were we talking about?
@None-lx8kj

One of the many things I love about this movie is the non-verbal (possibly even unscripted) comedic moments. Probably the best one is at 12:57 when Lumbergh suggests that Peter isn't management material and Bob looks like he's going to jump across the table and strangle him. 7:30 is another great moment where the joke itself is a little funny, but that cut to Diedrich Bader looking dead serious turns it to comedy gold. I've never been a big fan of Beavis and Butthead or King of the Hill, but I watch this movie and think to myself: Mike Judge is a freakin genius.

@lordmortarius538

There is a dry spell of good entertainment right now, period. Hollywood has been creatively bankrupt for a while because they don't want to lose money taking risks on new and unknown things, so they have been losing money instead on rehashing and ruining all the things we used to love because one or two of them ended up being good, but the vast majority are terrible. This started with the music industry in the early 2000's and has now made its way to film.

A few things about this film, first off it is based on a Mike Judge comic strip called "Milton" in which sad-sack Milton is the main character. Mike Judge played the manager at Tchotchke's who tells Jennifer she needs more 'flair'. About 15 years ago I was living in LA and went bowling with some neighbors and the guy who played Brian (Jennifer's overzealous co-worker)went with us, really nice guy, nothing like what he played here, lol. Unfortunately Funko only made Pop figures for a few of the cast Peter, Joanna, Bill Lumburgh, Milton and 'Sticky Note Guy' who wasn't IN the movie but was a part of the advertising... I would live to add Raj, Micheal and the Bob's to my collection IF they made them...

6:30 - Your "skip to the loo" idea of some kind of database of public bathrooms rated by cleanliness...I had a similar idea years ago, mostly born out of necessity as I was living in Taiwan at the time and I found that the availability and cleanliness of public toilets varied wildly around the city (also some toilets were the squatting type as opposed to the sit down style - ugh). It got to the point where I learned where some of the "good" bathrooms were and if I found myself anywhere near one I'd use it even if I didn't really need to.
