Hi from the UK. The engine (known as the A series) is one the best ever produced over here. Used in many models, including the classic Mini. The car is based on the Bug Eye Sprite, but with replacement front and rear coachwork. Later models feature rubber bumpers (added to meet US regulations) and a Triumph engine. Yours is arguably the best of the breed. Handling is roller skate good - great fun! Oh and the heater is good enough to roast yer feet!

Hey Josh, quick tip..when you need to clean small parts in your ultrasonic cleaner, put the small parts in a small glass jar with a lid, fill it with solution. Fill the ultrasonic tank with plain water. Put the jar in the water and turn on the cleaner. That way when you remove the small parts they are in the jar and you didn’t waste a bunch of solution. I use Simple Green Extreme. It doesn’t oxidized aluminum parts therefore it doesn’t discolor your carburetor. Hope this helps!

Every time I put on a sleeper dude video it seriously makes my day better and it's not just the cars or the diy mechanics it's the family behind it all. From rocky to the little dog and all the other animals running around to each and every kid they got and then mom and dad, it's absolutely the definition of what a good wholesome down to earth American family should be. It's like nowadays the small things get lost and forgotten like being out with dad or sis in the field or in yard messing around trying to learn how to drive long before your supposed to legally but that was just what you did as a kid especially when you had great parents who cared about you like they do their kids, then to think that their two oldest already can drive stick, hell most adults from 18 to 35 have never touched or tried to drive stick and it's because they were sheltered or didnt have a life like a kid should and be able to have those experiences like most of older adults did I mean the first vehicle I was ever allowed to try to drive first was a 4 speed 1 ton Chevy pick up because that's just how you started it helped to make you a better driver better control etc. Then they all smile and have great time every video. Sleeper dude your a blessed man I'd give anything to have a family like you got even a goat like rocky. If America had family to represent what America is about it would be you and your family. Thanks for showing the rest of us that these things are still out there and aren't lost and that it's possible to be simple and a still have a great time and even better life and it don't take much to have it all. I know it don't mean much coming from a nobody like me, actually no you wouldn't think of it like that you would appreciate it so for that I Thank you very much I appreciate you and your family every day.

Yes! I've been waiting for this one. These cars hold a special place in my heart. They star in a love story between my aunt and uncle when he was based in England. Before her Alzheimer's got to her bad he bought one exactly like the one they had when they first got married to remind her and she loved. I'll be watching this one with tears

Mr. D you and your family have inspired me to work on are van after it has been broke down for two years replaced the alternator and serpentine belt and battery. Great job rescuing that rat infested MG Midget. I owned a new 1970 MG Midget, British Racing Green, wire wheels…luv’d that car. Seeing you got the skills to repair the body work, I hope you restore and repaint it, and find a back up lense cover and bring that o’l car back to it’s full glory.

its great learning your kids how to drive a stick shift at a early age.my dad had a junkyard when i was a boy and i had a 67 cougar 289 stick shift at 12 years old.back then i drove it a mile or two from the house regularly.

It’s surprising just how protective I feel for that MG Midget it’s the car of my youth and British made and possibly a load of junk bet it’s our junk and I love it also your a braver man than I am I’d never take a Webber Carb to bits but if you get that car running you all will have so much fun with it ! Had a green 71 MG back in 2001 I bout at an auction. Needed a new brakeline and some good cleaning but loved driving it. Had it for about 4 years and some memorable times. Miss it to this day. Love watching you all bringing back to life old "goodies":-)

Well that's got to be up there with the hardest carb rebuild of all time! I had twin webbers and my god that looked far more scary! then ya lost the parts on the grass!! Loved the video on the midget, even squeesy was stoked! one of the best will it runs! hope wau wau gets her finger fixed soon and the kitten is doing good 😁

Couple of things about the ultrasonic: You should always use the basket. You don't want to wear a hole through the bottom of the vessel. Not only can you use degreaser in it, you can use solvents like kerosene or mineral spirits. You can fill Solo cups with your parts then fill the cups with solvent then sit the cups in the basket with straight water in the ultrasonic.

Thanks! You guys have all the fun! Your MG experience brings back many happy memories. I had a 1964 Midget for a daily in '69 & 70. It was a great little car. It had a pair of SU carburetors that provided good power (when synchronized) and more than 40 MPG in town. Gloriously fun to drive and was quite sporty with wire wheels with knockoff hubs. Glad you guys have so much fun with these projects and you should be proud of helping your kids build all these wonderful memories. 🖖

Great episode with something to make all the family members excited. A fairly close conversion for celsius to fahrenheit is to double the celsius number and add 30.

I have one of these that I fixed up and I will tell you it is the funnest little car I have ever owned so I'm sure you guys are going to enjoy the heck out of it. Smiles for Miles and remember it is much more fun to drive a slow car fast than a fast car slow.

We have a black cat too. His name is Thackery Binx, after the cat in Hocus Pocus. Black cats act differently than any other cats, for some reason. He's the most loving kitty we've ever had. For the record, cats do not have owners, they have servants, lol.

Had schoolmates and friends with 60 vintage Austin-Healey, MG Midget, Triumph all fun cars. Coworkers had a 60 something Jaguar XKE and one with a very rare Mercedes 300SL Gullwing. I wouldn't mind getting a Lotus Europa to fix while still somewhat affordable. Good video having the whole family getting those classics back to life.

Awesome series, Josh and family! I had a '71 for 18 years, I regret selling it all the time. I believe the access cover for the transmission fluid level is on the drivers side of the trans tunnel. Oval rubber plug. And those BMC 4 speeds always whine in 1st gear, even when full of fluid. Great job!

I had a 72 MGB GT 1.8 ! Very few MGs are out there now, and thanks for the rescue ! Top notch condition its worth a fortune in the UK .

You guys are so much fun to watch. I was 7 years old in 1959 when my parents brought home a new Austin Healey Bug Eye Sprite. I was hooked from then on. A couple of years later they upgraded to an Austin Healey 3000 and I was even more in love. At 16 years old I got a pretty ratty old 56 MGA and drove it like I stole it...until the engine went. My Dad and a friend tried to fix it but he just parted it out after finding too much wrong with it. 50 plus years later and after an addiction to VWs, I'm the proud owner of a pretty nice 77 MGB that is getting sorted out and ready for next Spring. The previous owners added a header and a Weber Progressive carb and it seems to like that upgrade. Keep up the great videos and I hope you all have a Very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Squeezy has such a soft heart for animals. She doesn’t seem to like the cars as much but she certainly found something different to love. ❤Ralphie cracks me up. I owned two MGBs. A 66 and a 70. Very similar, just slightly larger. Simple once you understand them. The Weber is a famous upgrade, but I love the early original carbs (SU) were as simple as they come. Like working on a lawn mower. Of course she cut doughnuts. That's what those cars are meant for. Having fun!

Sleeper; Most parts for these MG’s are readily available…but in England Momma’s excited about her MG! Keep it purring and she’ll keep purring!! Lastly, there should be a “choke” button inside the car that connects to the place you keep putting your finger to help it start.

If you like that MG because it's a small car and different you need to find you a Smart car. The engine is in the back and it is 2.5 feet shorter than the MG. Find you a 451 and not the 450. The 450 are way more scarce. Just under 1 liter and a blast to drive. The transmission is 5 speed manual but the car operates the clutch and shifts it automatically for you. Or you can control the shifts but you don't have to worry about the clutch. Squeezy can drive it. She looked so disappointed to not get to drive that MG. You gotta keep her interested.
