I travel a lot and it always amazed how that there is so many procedures and checks when checking your bag, and then when you reach your destination they're just like, "Alright you deal with it. You're on the honor system to take your own bag."
I was shocked and so very happy to see Anderson's soup still there. Growing up our travels up north from Hollywood we would always stop there. 40 + years ago maybe ? That was cool.😎
I looked a few days ago before ordering soup. There are two locations left. The original Bulleton location and the one Adam visited. Sadly, Carlsbad and all the others are gone. We used to drive up to Bulleton for lunch, tour Mission La Purisma de la Concepcion, and then head over to Solvang for the Birkholm Bakery once a year when I was a kid.
Adam your in my neck of the woods! Those propeller planes are called Q400, they are built by bombardier in Canada. What your flying on is an Ebraer E-175 jet. I work for Alaska on those 737’s you were showing before you boarded. You are actually flying on the sister carrier to Alaska called Horizon air, they have several flights mixed into the schedule so they are basically the “commuter” side of Alaska airlines, if that makes sense
Adam you are living the old George Carlin joke about "Stuff". You have stuff in Celebration, stuff in Oakland, stuff in Seattle, stuff under the plane, stuff in California and you're flying over other people's stuff!!
Like this video of the flight from Seattle. Glad you mentioned that most of California isn't like LA or SF etc. Most think of a state just crowded with people from wall to wall. Sort of like where I live in upstate NY...had visitors expecting all of the state to be like NYC. I have driven most of California and the change in landscape from one area to another is something else. Mountains, ocean, desert. Visit Bodie Ghost Town in the Tahoe area if you get the chance. Again, great video.
Yes, California, to me, is such an outstanding state....the incredible produce for the country that it produces, the diverse beauty....the sea....it cannot be beat, regardless of issues that this most popular state must face......it moves forwards, not backward (ok, some gross exceptions), but still, a place to love

I was born and raised in Northern CA and now live in Southern CA and I do notice that they say the word 'the' in front of freeways and northern doesn't. Little things like that can tell the area you're from in CA. I also think I am picking that up little trait.

A tip from a FA ✈️ try to reserve your airplane seat in the exit row. The exit row is more comfortable for tall people and is less turbulent being that it is centered in the middle of the airplane. Whenever, I work the AFT the back of the airplane ✈️ and fly over mountains, turbulence has thrown me around.
I grew up north of Seattle and will be flying up there from Orlando to spend Aug with my brother which is the best time to visit the Emerald City. I drove many times down I-5 from Seattle to Disneyland back in the 70s and 80s. I also have family living in the Bakersfield area working in the oil fields. Was fun to watch your travel day...oh one more thing..when we saw that Andersson soup windmill we smiled knowing we were in CA.
Yep that was some pretty good turbulence. I think we all have had some stories with bad turbulence. Mine was probably the time I was one of the last planes out before a hurricane and they had to get that thing up high real fast. I think we were going almost vertical straight up. I have to say that was a scary ride. 😱

I see what you mean about the turbulence. I could see it clearly on "take-off" with the wings. It seems to be windy often all over the place. The fires in the Southwest are going crazy.

Just past Fresno, my hometown! My dad was a surveyor for CalTrans and worked on I-5 for over 20 yrs. after he taught school and right after he was a guard at Alcatraz!

Cool to see you near my area, that marker for Joaquin Murieta is only 20 some odd miles away from me, when you pan the camera towards the road before you walk up to the marker the sign on the side of the road reads Lemoore and hanford. Im in Lemoore. Cool to see you near huge fan !
I flew on Saturday, too! My experience was ten hours which included 45 minutes in the opposite direction to a four and a half hour layover but there were some rocking chairs in front of a huge window in a quiet corridor. It had a good view of gate preps and take offs and a nice spot to relax and eat my huge double burger. Glad you had a safe trip.

It’s a very tough job . And I’m not speaking the actual flying part but dealing with irate people day in and day out and not very big salaries . She sounded nice to me .
I’m a nice sweet gentle person and I worked as a gate agent for only two weeks because I’d come home every night crying cause customers are so mean and hateful ! Not all of them but you’d be surprised how many ! And this was 18 years before the pandemic !

I know what you mean when you talk about California. When people talk about NYS people just think about NYC, Albany and, maybe Buffalo because they get all of the attention. There's the whole state of NYS and, a lot of great places to visit. I can't wait to see where you go to next.
I5 through the valley in California is a very boring drive - if you go that way again take the old highway, 99, which goes up the east side of the valley, at least from Sacramento to Bakersfield. There's a myriad of small towns each with their own charm. Kingsburg is one of my favorites (it's Swedish themed and has the worlds largest box of raisins at the Sun Maid plant) but there's lots of them, some right off the highway and some a little farther away. It's slower than I5 but much more enjoyable. Plus you can see all the evidence of the high speed rail boondoggle that is currently under construction! There's fields of nut and fruit trees and vineyards all over. Be warned though just like I5 it's hot in the summer. I love taking the back roads and less traveled routes.
