What a beautiful wardrobe! I love that it builds on the last season, and look forward to seeing the three pieces you will be adding! PS-The video on coats that have stood the test of time sounds great!!!
I have an almost floor length red wool coat that I have loved, but I lost about 50 pounds and it now fits like a tent. I was going to give it to my sister, but there is no way she could ever love it as much as I do. So, inspire me with coat patterns so I can cut it down into something that I can love again.😊
Your color palette is stunning, Whitney. 😘 Did you do a video of incorporating the color circles in to your styling sheets? I think you were using Canva when you first started doing them. I’ve been coloring in my Moonlit Summer colors but they don’t look nearly as cool as your finished style sheets do. 😊 Thanks for all your styling help and your wonderful tutorials!
I'm also a Moonlit Summer and was going to ask close to the same question. I thought you said we could personalize the sheets in canva and was wondering if it is something that can be done than maybe you could show us how. @@TomKatStitchery
I went crazy for the Marigold in your palette and after searching the internet, it is a huge trend. Love it. My color palette is deep rich shades and I am just wild about your marigold. Good choice!
It really depends on the garment. Sometimes they wear out, sometimes I find myself not wearing them as much as I thought I would so they go to family and friends first and then to goodwill.
Great vlog😊 it’s good to see how you blend the various seasons together and add the splash of the current seasons ideas and makes. I am a winter of some description and had my colours done in the 80s and still have the colour card/swatch thing to prove it! I have this in my bag now and it goes everywhere with me just ‘in case’ I find myself at a fabric store😅 but I find that I keep gravitating to some of the glorious autumnal colours (gold and browns in particular), so I guess I am living vicariously through your beautiful pieces. Looking forward to seeing your video on Friday.
If you love the autumnal colors, absolutely work them with your Winter color pallet! Some colors, like the bubble gum pink, are not in my pallet, but this year, I bought a pair of sneakers that color and I adore wearing them even now in the fall!
I love the fabric you made that metra out of, I think you might have sold me on it. Also those j crew sweaters, I am also a spring so I might need them
I just discovered the blissful blazer from love notions. Unfortunately, she doesn’t offer it in adult sizes, so I will have to alter something I have. Happy sewing!
Whitney, your time and effort put into finding your style(s) and color pallet have really paid off! 🤩. You have a wonderfully curated and cohesive collection of garments to wear. Everything goes so well together and your styling looks fantastic. I need to put more effort into pulling my style together. 😉. Thanks for sharing!
Oooooh, can't wait to see your hack of the Sloane with the Frankie neckline! I always love these videos because they remind me of patterns I have, or of garments I've forgotten about. I did make two of the LN Arlington, and was so pleased about the fit and ease of sewing. It is now my go-to for turtlenecks for these cold winter months - thanks again for the reminder!
I have so many plans to sew for the winter, but am sewing Christmas gifts first. I’ve started on the first and have at least four more to sew. Then I can sew for myself. I love how how your wardrobe all comes together. Great planning.
Nice! Yes, I rely more on grey with black accents instead of black. I do wear black though. I have some jersey coming from Mood. I finish this fitting class soon and it’s on to construction! I have multiple fabrics for V8793. I have altered it to give it a jewel neckline and a neat but not tight fit. Vogue V 8772 is being adjusted for my class and I will be making this. First I’ll be making McCalls 4111 and make some variations with Simple’s swing tank (Etsy). These are perfect when it’s hot and you want a more formal look. Vogue 9009, view C, should make a great waistcoat. I have finally found a Spoonflower fabric that will be perfect. So that’s my tailoring project. I’ll make a non tailored one for layering when it’s warmer. I prefer to dress more formally, so my pics fit that. I can’t wait till your coat video! I decided that McCalls m6802 can be adapted to make the coat from My Froggy Stuff’s video. It will only need some light tailoring so it should be quick. I have to make a muslin to see if I have enough of this chocolate wool suiting to make it.
I bought the Frankie Polo when it was recently released. Excited to see yours in the rust sweater knit. I think I have that same fabric and made a Harper cardigan. You have some fun sewing plans ahead😀. I hope to finally get around to making the Metra Blazer, the Mercot vest and some leisure wear after the holidays.
You really got some awesome clothes you made for fall & winter season. I’m hoping by Thursday I’m back in the sewing room. Just been catching up with other things since my vacation. I really like having a bit of color in my clothes also.
Always love you plans, good core pieces to create your wardrobe. My mom would brighten our whites (slips, tee shirts or white shirts) with Heloise’s stain removal. I have used it, too with great results. I believe her daughter tweaked the recipe with the oxygenated laundry booster instead of liquid bleach, along with some liquid dishwasher gel. Thought I might share that idea.
I think of the term Dopamine Dressing all the time now. With that in mind I have made 3 'happy tops' to add to all my winter ones :) Thank you for taKING ll the time to show us and to model the outfits for us.
You have a great, cohesive capsule going here, Whitney. Love the brighter colors in the winter months. Did you list the blue quilted fabric you are going to use for your hive sweatshirt? I really like that one. Can't wait to see it made up.
Maybe also pick from your wardrobe and select 10 pieces or so for a travel wardrobe that fits in a carryon suitcase? I found a 3x3 grid that has top, bottom, and topper squares that shows how to combine them, lay one piece of clothing in each square, and voila! Combination outfits!
@kathygann7632 that's a fun idea for the travel wardrobe. I can definitely throw something together this Winter. As far as my husband and son, they don't pay attention to the color theory at all. Sometimes I can persuade them into certain colors when it's a special event, but for the most part they just wear what they want.
Your capsule looks great! I've been thinking of using that very same Stylemaker fabric to make a sweatshirt, but have had a hard time deciding on a pattern. Really looking forward to seeing how yours turns out. I may be making a Sloan too!
Nice cohesive wardrobe! How do you have your closet set up? In other words, do you group your capsules together like you have them on your rack? Could you do a video sew along for the polo collar?
I rotate my closet with the closet in the spare room of our house. So winter comes out and Summer goes in! And for the most part, this rack sticks together in my closet. Stay tuned on the collar!!
Love your capsule🙂 I have bought the vivace because I have a burgundy chiffon + every time I see u in your top I want to make it-can I ask how true to size it is-I am wondering should I go down a size as seems a lot of ease??
I just made my first concord. Did you straighten out the waist shaping? Mine seemed to flare out a lot at the hip and yours look more floaty. I would prefer the floaty.
Whitney, where did you get the names of your colors from the Color Guru? I bought the basic package and got the makeup card for free ( there was a special when I signed up), with your coupon, thank you very much! I have the color card for my Sunlit Spring color palate, but no names. I find it a bit difficult to match the colors on the card to the clothing or fabric. My brain seems to say “yeah, that looks close or the same,” but then I second guess myself. Frustrating!! I know names of colors won’t make a difference in what matches the circles on the card, but I find it helpful. Thanks for reading & I hope you can inform me as to where the names are located. 😃
I don't have the names on the physical card, but when I got the digital analysis back it also included the digital card and I had two in my email. One was just a digital one of the physical card and the other had the names on it. However, you are correct that the color names do tend to be a bit arbitrary, but I would check your email that contained your color consultation results.
Whitney, I love your channel, but are you aware of the madewell controversy? FYI 1. Their denim is not sustainable, and the company has made no attempt to minimize their carbon footprint 2. Knock off style designs. 3. Madewell has issues with unethical treatment and salaries of factory workers.
