My Wish: Dustin Poirier grants cancer survivor Alden Cary's wish | SportsCenter
The toughness of MMA fighters has inspired Alden Cary to show the same kind of grit during his bout with cancer. The 17-year-old North Carolina native got a training session with Dustin Poirier and learned some moves from the UFC lightweight in the octagon, where he is currently training for UFC 291.

Bro the kid actually has decent form. His punches look sharp for someone that’s inexperienced and he actually puts some hip into it. If this is from one training session he could actually get pretty decent to pretty good if he wanted too. Also Dustin is one of my favorite fighters in the roster so awesome to see his character in videos like this 💪

I'm sad to hear the UFC didn't give him a lifelong membership to their gym, or just a general gym deal, or at least like a year or 2 of martial arts training (BJJ, boxing, etc.)... Nobody cares about a swag bag lmao. I'm sure he was happy to get some signed gear by Poirier, but the UFC themselves could've done better.

Never felt genuine, does all the right things, but almost like it's forced. I know good deeds are good deeds, but his nice guy act strikes me very weird. Super happy for the kid though.

Wow, I never thought something like this would make me tear up. I swear, this video made me feel all kinds of emotions. I love seeing this being done for Alden, and it feels even more special knowing that Dustin, a hometown guy, helped make it happen for him. It's crazy how we often view life through our own perspectives and forget to appreciate how fortunate we truly are. No child should ever have to endure something as terrible as cancer. If it were up to me, I would rather be the one to suffer from it than any child. Thank God for kind-hearted people like those in this video. Great job!

My heart goes out to you and your friends family. The hardest part, for friends, is to see our friend be destroyed by something we can't fight for them. I just remember praying to give him strength to fight this. And take my strength and give it to him. We promise to protect our babies from harm. How do we as parents or friends fight something that's in their body. He is truly just amazing. Heavenly father has plans for him. ❤
