i get so much more done being 100% remote. when i used to have to be on site i barely got anything done. being 100% remote i actually end up doing more being much more efficient. there are plenty of folks who sets bad examples working from home
I've been remote since March 2020 and at the moment it isn't changing. My specific company has stated our productivity tripled because people are able to work comfortably in their own space. I'm not sure how I'd handle having to go back in every day.
My company pulled the trigger the beginning of October, unfortunately I have to set for a while with mandate office, such a dumb decision, the office I work is nothing like the fancy ones, mine is old dirty, currently ac is not working is like a sauna. Outside that commute is a nightmare, city is small not proper infrastructure, we are close to the ports and airport, traffic is a nightmare. My expenses went back up insanely, I’m tired cause I have to commute 2 hrs each day, so basically I just go back home to sleep. Not to mention I can barely function at work, plus I forgot how difficult is to focus in the office, I get interrupted like every 20 minutes. So basically I’m just at the office not so much working can be done.
It only takes a dumb, clown-type micro-manager that believes everyone needs to be at the office for the sake of the 'culture' (who knows what it means), to ruin everything. I have to go to the office once a week, and I spend 80% of my time there in a cubicle attending online meetings. That is a complete waste of time and $$, unfortunately.
Jassy is an idiot who doesn't understand how to manage and motivate w/o butts in chairs in a specific location. Meanwhile spewing tons more CO2. "Climate Pledge" my ass.
It's real estate companies and local businesses asking these big corporations to help them, by forcing people back to the office, and make their declining business to go up again. That is the case here in Toronto, where real estate is suffering especially in the downtown area, thus asking/threatening big corporations (e.g Financial Companies, Insurance, etc) to bring back people to the office otherwise existing loans will not be paid. Absolute B.S.
@@lontarian2228 you mean the same real state companies that increase the rent prices making impossible for people to live near from where they work? B.S. indeed.
Hi, just wanted to say, thank you. I'm a software engineer too and Your videos make me love my job again on the days it's extremely hard. Appreciate you!
I gotta be honest I found your channel from your comment on one of Matt's vid 😅 been following him since the past couple years, but girl!!! I've been binge watching your vids cause it's just sooooo cutesy, calming, and over all such a good vibe even though I'm not a girl in tech myself, just a plain regular girl lol anyway you got yourself a new subscriber ❤
This is a tactic to “LayOff “ A LOT of people without having to give severance . Because majority of people were hired remote most don’t even work in the same city (some live out of the country ) . They plan on many people just quitting . That is their goal
Heey Jenn, I’m getting into the world of development and I’m really enjoying your content… What are the programming languages that you use the most? I’m also learning English, so disregard the mistakes 😅
I just had this feeling that it was about time for a new Jenn Cho video. So I searched and guess what... hah! lol I get my new iphone 16 pro on Wednesday!
@@imjenncho With the 5 day RTO mandate, can people still WFH some portion of each day and then go into the office? Or is Amazon being very strict and expecting people to be in the office like 90-100% of every day?
On cnbc, they said that companies overhired because money was cheap. Now, the gov is no longer juicing the economy and big tech is cutting back. Many see the rto policy as a way to reduce the workforce because people will just leave. Another factor is cnbc said that twitter laid off 80% of their workforce but their website runs fine. CEOs took note of that and are asking themselves if their company really needs so many employees? IOW, can we do the same with less?
RTO sucks for production crews. Middle managers and above seem to want it so that they have their social time around the water cooler. Those of us who are super efficient WFH should have a flexible hybrid schedule worst case scenario.
It's soft layoffs. Goosing up the bottom line by allowing people to leave their roles reducing headcount and payroll expense. Executives get to artificially inflate their performance metrics and rake in their bonuses.
Great channel I watch all of your videos. I would prefer hybrid also. Does companies provide you a work laptop or do you have to buy your own? Howl is so cute. :-) Thanks
If I were boss, then I'd be telling everyone to get back into the office too. Bosses need to watch staff so they don't cost the company by trading crypto or working their side hustles.
