Wasim Akram picks the eleven toughest batsmen he bowled to. Carl Hooper was strong and silent, and he could hit your bouncers out of the park, says Wasim Akram Watch more videos like this at www.kyte.tv/ch/...
Carl Hooper was suppposed to be Legend of Cricket History who could not reach to his full potential whatever may be his situations, He is such a Elegant and Dangerous player of the Game, pure pleasure to watch when he is in form, 90's kids only know about potential of Hooper and De Silva of Lanka 😂😂😂😂
I think he wasn't liked by viv and he was not liked by the board , the times he missed the world cups was due to management and also those times viv had a stronghold over westindies cricket.
I was so fortunate (and honoured) to play against so many legends in county cricket throughout the 1990s and early 2000s. Such a great time to play! Waz! Legend! Hoops! Legend ❤
One of my all time favourite, because the man he was not for the records. Quite calm, qualities you appreciate in Dhoni he had all of them. A smile on his face leading a team full of stars Lara Ambrose Walsh Haynes Richardson at some point. A true gentleman who played the game.
Hooper average against Pakistan was 45.06,this was against such bowlers as:Wasim Akram,Waqar Younis,Imran Khan,Shoib Aktar,Abdul Quadir,Mushtaq Ahmed Saqlin Mushtaq etc
Hooper was fantastic to look at from a batsman point of view. He should have scored more against Australia and England. He wasn't mentally tough has Viv and Brian. However I'd rather watch his batting technique that the others but on the other hand Viv and Brian brought entertainment.
He was a brilliant batsman, with very quick feet, and used minimal effort in his strokes, which made him especially effective against spin. Trouble was, he was prone to lapses of concentration and giving his wickets away. When WI toured England in 1995, this was very much in evidence.
(contd.) And it seems very fashionable ever since 2010 to bash Sachin (just to spite the overbearing Sachin fanatics from India I guess) and comparing every batsman to him. I even see people saying Sachin never played under pressure, it is ridiculous. People should realize that Sachin in the 90s played on a team weaker than Lara's windies or Inzy's Pakistan both of the teams had great bowling attacks. Sachin had an overburdened Azhar and Srinath and nobody else to support him in the 90s. There is a reason this man is the highest scorer in both Tests and ODI and with a great average on top of that. Personally my favorite players to watch were elegant players with flaws like Inzy, VVS etc. but it shouldn't take away anything from a man who played Cricket for 25 years, just put that in the right perspective...25 years of being a professional sportsman, that longevity requires a lot of passion and self-motivation, which only a Kareem Abdul Jabbar (basketball, NBA legend) could do among all the sportsmen of the last century.
WHENEVER BRIAN LARA FAILED FOR WEST INDIES, CARL HOOPER WAS THEIR TO SCORE FOR WEST INDIES & AFTER RICHIE RICHARDSON, CARL HOOPER SHOULD'VE MADE CAPTAIN OF WEST INDIES CRICKET TEAM AFTER W.C. 1996 !@#$%.
@Aton Freckleton good point and from 92-96 Hooper missed a lot of cricket for WI in 92 missed one off home test against SA then in 94 missed all 5 home tests against England in 95 missed both away tests in NZ missed 96 world cup like you said and also missed both home tests in 96 against NZ like you also said
@Aton Freckleton True he missed England 94 tour of the Caribbean because of a back injury and he did tour New Zealand in 95 but missed all the matches on that tour because he was in hospital with Malaria
