MyKayla Skinner Best AA Performance of the Quad 

she was on BEAST MODE last night. very happy for her after coming back and having to go through covid, doubters, an extra year, time out of college, injuries (her achilles)… i’m so happy that she went out there and smashed it.

She's peaking at the perfect time.

I think the fact she’s already been to an Olympic trials is really calming her nerves this time around. I went to high school with her so I’ve always been team MyKayla since the beginning!

Also watching beam is way more nerve wracking when they show that angle from behind! You can really see how slim the beam is

REALLY hoping she makes it onto the team. She deserves this so freaking much!

I was really starting to count her out, but she is back swinging!

I was SO happy to see her have such a great performance. I saw her a few years ago at a UT meet and thought, "wow, she could still be competitive in elite (everything looked so easy for her)- lo and behold, here she is crushing OT night 1. I absolutely love how she celebrates her own great performance (bringing her collegiate experience). She should be STOKED! She really "brought it" yesterday. Congrats to Mykayla and her coaches- they all have been believing that this could really happen for her despite all of the setbacks in the last year.. Impressive on so many levels, go MYK!

she said in her vlog that she’s planning on doing the bhardwaj on bars, and who knows what other upgrades ! and just imagine the vlogs we will get at the olympics if she makes the olympic team, that would be really cool. i’m rooting for her, the competition is tough and no one knows who’s getting that 4th spot. i hope they all just kill it and make day 2 so exciting.

before yesterday i wasn’t really routing for mykayla but after yesterday night i really think she has a chance. she’s worked so hard for it and deserves it so so much

i cannot make up my mind about skinner, im not the biggest skinner supporter but i dont like her gymnastics and her "bigger=better" approach to it, however i applaud how hard she has worked and i admire her for that, she did so well last night but also she was 10th at classics and 9th at nationals and she either hits or she misses i do not think she is going to make the team because of her form issues, its a problem domestically and itll be a massive problem internationally and USAG knows this, i think she is looking at another alternate spot just because they cant risk the inconsistency issues with such a small team while also trying to maximize the medal opportunities if myk makes the team she'd be used for vault and floor given her struggles on bars and there are quite strong beam workers that outrank her, but grace placed higher than myk on floor and i think jordan could upgrade her double to a 2.5, it doesnt feel like USAG would take the risk of bringing her as a full team member, at most a specialist spot but most likely another alternate spot my team stands at, simone, suni, jordan, grace with specialists jade & riley guess well see on day 2 how it goes

I'd suggest a drinking game where you take a shot whenever Daggett says either "jam packed" or "right here!" but everyone would die from alcohol poisoning.

People had their doubts after Championships but knowing Mykayla and how she just TRHIVES with the fans, stadium, and lights, I just knew she was going to come to this meet and do great. Do we remember in 2016 her Trials performances?? She always knows how to rise to the occasion

Mykayla for 4th? absolutely. Also wanted to note that she lost .3 cv on beam, which if she hits clean it would have been a minimum of 14.4 or even more (since hitting combination beams 1 less balance break). Also i dont really understand how she has such a ''low'' start value on floor, did any dance stuff get devalued? edit: her routine is 6.0, and she's getting 5.9 or 5.8, which is not that bad, but i wonder whats getting devalued

the team needs a strong vaulter (which mykayla is) and a strong floor routine, so mykayla really needs to clean up her floor, bars and beam aren't so important, because simone/suni/jordan will do them in the final

The 4th team spot and the 2nd individual spot comes down to McKayla, Grace, and Riley. If you look at Nationals, McKayla beat Grace at vault, bars, and floor. (She beat Jade at vault and floor. ) Riley beat her on bars but Riley only competed on bars. At trials, McKayla beat Grace at vault and beam. Jade didn't really compete and again, Riley only competed on bars. Plus McKayla has higher difficulty across the board. She does need to improve on execution but that would be her only focus during training. It would be great to see if given the confidence of being selected would help her focus on execution (she needs to clean up those arms on beam!). I've been a fan for years and I am really hoping for the 4th spot.

The funny thing is that she is really not limber! Her right arm doesn’t extend all the way on vault. She said she has tried to be limber thru her gymnastics career but her right arm is something she just could never get it to do.

I'd love her to come 2nd and be a def for the team.. But I think that would only happen if Suni and or Jordan fall or too many mistakes. The tip gymnasts have really thinned out, with leanne not doing so good yesterday.... And Riley being injured, and Jade not doing the all around, and Skye out (was a distant chance but not out of it altogether). Only really leaves Simone, Suni. Jordan and Mkayla. Unless major mistakes 2moro, I think it'll be them. Specialist spots Jade and Riley for bars. Only shock will be if they don't pick mkayla despite her being in the top 4

Tim Daggett, dude get SOME NEW WORDS! Her full on beam is NOT a trademark skill. She falls on it more than she lands it. " STATE OF THE ART" He says that all the time. TALK ABOUT SOMEONE OTHER THAN SIMONE. I love her, swear to god, she is a legend. But as a CANADIAN, i know that USA wouldn't be so dominant without EVERY OTHER WOMAN on that team. Ugh. NBC. I just don't see her adding value to the US team. Her horrible execution cancels out her difficulty.
