As a guy who's into bodybuilding, here's why you don't compare yourself to models: 1 - They are often living unhealthy lifestyles (PEDs, Bulimia, Anorexia, weight loss pills, etc) 2 - They mentally are often not in a good space, because their success depends entirely on looks 3 - They often have professional photographers, lighting, makeup, and it makes a huge difference. You probably look at yourself in a mirror after sleeping, the pictures aren't even comparable to your setup. Lighting can unironically change you from a hot dude to a goblin. 4 - Genetically, you are not the same as them. Getting upset over something unchangeable is not productive or healthy. They may be taller, have different fat distribution, better muscle insertions, high cheek bones, whatever. But these are not prerequisites for attractiveness. Being the best person you personally can be is enough. You don't have to look like you'd star in a movie or be the face of a brand. If someone takes care of themselves and lives a healthy lifestyle, and is friendly, kind, and has interests they're passionate about, people will find them attractive. And there are only two people that need to find you attractive, your partner and yourself.

This is why i like Mysta. He isn't that afraid to call people out and also tell them the reality of things. Yes you will never look like that model on Instragram or whatever, but all those are either fake, wear a shit ton of makeup, or just someone who's been blessed for some reason. You don't need to look like some model who works for an agency or posts mostly photoshopped images on instagram, since those people are not realistic, they are too perfect for me to even like. If you want to look good, sure go for it, but don't set unrealistic standards for yourself when those standards are 90% of the time not even real. This is coming from a guy's perspective, and while i can feel insecure sometimes about my looks, im sure women feel a lot more insecure about this kind of stuff and feel a sort of "competition". Im not in any position to say "You don't have to look like THAT" since i don't even have a standard for myself, but please remember that having those looks and living that perfect life, is often not real and not something to absolutely strive for

Comparing yourself to a single picture with perfect posing, lighting, makeup, camera, image editing, when all you got is your dim, dingy bathroom mirror is a battle you're always going to lose. Even just posing completely changes your silhouette, if you've ever tried to take spicy pictures of yourself you probably noticed how even slightly shifting your hip position can change you from a lumpy blob to a chiseled god. Now imagine what all that other stuff does; Mysta's right when he says "they aren't even human."

Yeah, sometimes it's hard to phrase these things without coming off as unintentionally cheesy or accidentally mean. But he's right. A lot of those models (whether they're doing it professionally or on Instagram) have a lot of things going on behind the scenes that can be a bit deceptive (like the photos being tampered with). It's really frustrating that a lot of us average people put ourselves down for not living up to certain societal expectations. Expectations that are often unobtainable. It's sad.

It kinda make sense that he has more girl friends than guy friends. Even I want a guy friend with his personality. Funny, honest, mature, bit of stupid and kinda awkward.

It's... Hard to explain. In the US physical appearance is heavily influenced by the media. It's used to tell us we're too tall, too small, too big, too skinny, too pale/tan/dark etc. in order to sell products to "fix" the "issue". Women are pressured to compete more by appearance than anything else. Or how else would they attract a mate? I'm old and salty enough to understand that a lot of this stuff is photoshopped (not all models do it ). Beauty standards change as seasons change. And you don't need to compete with anyone.

Most of the reason as to why you shouldn't compare yourself to models , is because it is their job to look like this. Therefor even if they did look beautiful before the being scouted they have to maintain that through diets and many intensive care. Their whole life revolves around their beauty, most of the time a really cool picture of a model is altered with makeup, extensions, outfits, jewelry, diets, photoshop even if they do look great irl. As people who do not live a live revolving around beauty, we simply cannot look like a person whose whole day is dedicated in preserving their beauty.

Can I like try to word it for him bc "you will never look like that" yes true and "you are beautiful just the way you are" it's kinda plain cause it doesn't really give you a reason to not become like that, so as a girl I'll try to give an interpretation (this is MY interpretation of what he meant ok? Don't put my words as something that he said, he just said that it is hard to explain so I'll try to explain in MY behalf ok? Thank you) you may agree or disagree: "You will never look like that" yes this is kinda cruel but at the same time it's not, models rapresent the ideal types in a society the thing is that body types are all different and many of them will likely never reach those standard but it's natural, also wanting to look like a model it feels like wanting to objectify your own self, idk how to explain it but I think you can pretty much understand what I mean if we take for example the type of women in adds. Like Mysta said it's not good for you mental health, in general comparing yourself with ideals types (not only in modeling, but also in art, in sport, in video games) it's not good, because there are so many cases in which people make wrong decision and lead them to be over confident to reach a goal that will most likely be just an illusion or destroy your confidence to the point that the individual will just give up and be very disappointed in themselves and think over and over about their failure. Pls just take care of yourself people don't need to follow ideals to be beautiful and accepted, don't think about the prejudice, remember that people who prejudice always have something that they are not happy about themselves and they do that just not to see it. Nobody is in the right place to say "If you aren't like this you are inferior" With the words "you are beautiful just the way you are" you are the only one who will build your own self and worth nobody else, just because you are not in a certain way or have flaws that doesn't mean that there will not be anybody who will like you, that just means that you can improve what you already are, there will always be someone who will not like you either way, so why trying so hard? It's true you look beautiful just being what you already are and people who care about you knows that. In short please don't be too hard on yourself. Tbh I should be the last one to be saying this stuff but I think that this was a good way to reflect on yourself and myself. Hope this helped someone in crisis. I know this things someone may have already heard them somewhere before, this is just a little reminder.

Same goes with people who use steroids but aren't transparent about it. Comparing yourself to people who either use photoshop plastic surgery or steroids whether you're a guy or a girl is like comparing yourself to anime characters and saying "Damn I wish I looked like that."

i used to compare myself to girls on social media then i wiped and deleted all my social media accounts except for youtube. people only post the selected good things that happen in their life.

I didn't say anything bc I didn't wanna sound shady, but in another clip, I saw he said he's angry at attractive people when they post that "vtuber vs irl" and I just want to say, you shouldn't compare yourself to anyone you see on social media. There's almost always some kind of filter, Photoshop, or behind the scenes magic to make people look unrealistically attractive than irl. Like ofc there's attractive people in the real world, but online, they'll hide their pores, acne, fat, stretch marks, etc. And it can be damaging if you internalize the people you see on the internet over the people you'd see in the real world, where no one looks the way they post on social media.

Idk, the phrase itself "you're beautiful the way you are" is a bit...lame? It's like when your parents says you're the most beautiful person (and when you grown up you know it's not, it's just for them).
