As a Filipino I can confirm this is a "light" meal. Even my dad always tells me "I want to you get fat". Well at least he's honest about it. But seriously I am worried Mama Rias might need to learn a thing or a thousand on healthy eating. Or maybe she's a good comedian and have fallen for a troll.
Believe me, as a filipino this isn't really a whole meal, but sort of a snack when you're hungry. I guess without rice it's just not really complete lmfao
Tru that one time I told my Stepmom I was going on a diet she literally cooked every single Filipino dish that I love (Adobo,Sinigang,kare-kare and minudo)😭
As a Filipino it's kind of a light meal. We're just so used to eating every meal with rice so without it it kinda feels weird sometimes. Different cultures are so interesting it even affects eating habits. Very interesting topic to learn about.
Exactly, I'm so used to eating rice, I physically and mentally find it so hard to start a diet, let alone do one, once I realized that it was too difficult to eat anything without it ;-;
With Filipinos, if it ain't got rice, it's a diet meal. Even when I'm having pasta/noodles/sandwiches, I hear "diet ka? (are you on a diet?)" Calories? We don't know her.
Oh yeah legit, i work in a place of only pinoys. One time, a coworker only ate turon for a week, i asked her why just that? She said she was on a diet and im just bruh.
same. we always tell her that proper diet means eating healthy and exercising at the same time. but she always thinks that diet means starving yourself
It was prolly the toxic idea that the word "diet" means "starving yourself" and it was a thing back in middle 2000s and late 2000s anyways. The introduction to the real meaning of "diet" to me was when I watched fitness instructors
His mom was actually right when it came to buying normal coke. When I went to see a nutritionist a few years ago he told me that if I wanted to drink soda I shouldn't drink the zero or light versions but the normal one instead.
Yeah, no, to my knowledge that nutritionist was full of shit, unfortunately. Calorieless drinks may not be especially effective in decreasing appetite, but there's no reason to suggest hydration with a shit ton of fructose vs that without.
As a Filipino, everyone in my household always tells me to diet because I'm fat apparently but everytime there's food they expect you to eat like you're the personification of the neverending abyss
Yung mga tita at tito mo na tuwang tuwa kapag kumakain ka Ng marami. Pinagmamalaki ka pa, pambato Sabi nga ahahaha Kinabukasan sasabihin tumataba ka, mag diet daw XD
im filipino and what filipinos consider diet is basically no rice 😂😂 we legit cant call it a meal if there is no rice even if you ate like 5 slices of pizza 💀
We peenoise usually think that any meal that has carbohydrates, proteins and fiber (go, grow, glow) and is a complete meal. Now, the mcdonalds meal (having only proteins and just proteins) probably raised an idea for his mum that it isnt a complete meal, thus a diet. Cute
LMAO this is either your mum genuinely thinking that is a light meal (most probably because it's "snack" food here and there's no rice, srsly, no rice means it's not a "full" meal to my family. You eat pizza for dinner and suddenly you get scandalized gasps cuz 'there's no way you're full from that' no auntie, i am most definitely full from that) or she's trying to say "tf you need a diet for?? you're too thin here have some more food?"
My dad does the same while my mom just makes a dinner & brings it to you in a bowl the size of a frying pan, & then will mope if you don't empty it. I swear they are purposefully sabotaging my ab goal. 😂
My chinese grandma is the same way when I was on my diet, she just says, it's fine, think of it as a cheat day. Problem is, she says this almost 3 times a week😂😂
LOL my mom … only sort of does this 😂 for the most part she supports my diets and even diets with me but sometimes … like yesterday … she will buy a freaking large sugar coated vanilla bun for me … like MOM lmao
Yeah, i can confirm as a filipino. Rice is basically our everyday meal and we get full by it which is why when i learned people eat pizza and get fulled, i didnt understand, my mind goes 'how on earth did you get fulled by a pizza?' I find it bizarre.
who knows, maybe his mom knows mysta needed a cheat day cheat days are mainly for your body so it doesn't go into energy saving mode, since diets could make your body think it's not getting enough food
@@sushi8556 That's what I've been told before. If you're losing weight through dieting and nothing else, your body is going to sense that it's not getting enough food and will hoard all that energy and store it as fat. Cheat days basically trick your body into thinking it's eating the same as normal.
*sighs* filipino moms... I told my mom I was going on a strict diet where I only eat like very little once a day, fckn bstrd bought a tub of ice cream the very next day with a smug smirk on her face, I love my mom but she's a menace.
I feel this lmao. Every few times my mom would be like "YOU'RE ALWAYS SITTING DOWN NOT GETTING EXERCISE THAT'S WHY U GETTING FATTER" without her knowing that I visit the mini-gym at my workplace during my workdays + I play drums regularly at home (plus I'm pretty sure I clock in over 10-15k steps per day at work), then a few days later she buys a bunch of fast food and I'm like BRUUUUUUUUUH I'll eat something healthy like El Pollo Loco but McD is too much.
I'm just surprised their Mcflurry machine works! I haven't had one in years because they're all "broken" 😂 but hey, your mom had the spirit, she tried I guess
as someone who has a filipino mom like mysta this happens plenty of times lmao I don't even say I'm on a diet anymore because shes gonna cook and buy so many foods its as if they don't want you to not eat😭
The number of times I said no I'm on a diet and that very same night my parents would whip out a tub of ice cream, soda, fried rice and whichever delicious side dish (ulam) she can bring, saying it is to make my diet enjoyable
as a filipino myself and someone who also wants to go on a diet but fails every single goddamn time because whenever my parents notice me suddenly cutting off sugar and junk food and generally eating less they start putting more food in my plate, i relate😃 then they hit me with the "alright fine, if you don't finish this then i'm not giving you food anymore" lol ok atleast that helps my diet somehow
This is so true 😂 i told my Filipino mom im going on a diet and the next days, she made me my favorite sweets 😂 if asian parents just knew youre on diet, they'd make you eat more
To be honest I think Every Filipino House hold should learn to have a healthy meal because I also had the same problem and I took the Initiative to change our diet in the family. I notice there so many fry foods and I couldn't stand it that my body starts to reject it the moment I see specific food I don't like, like fry foods and sweets.A lot of Filipino cuisine meals are sweet and it is part of our culture. Good thing realize it and made sure to avoid those sweets that makes feel bad. I feel so much better.
I decided to diet The next day, my mother said to me “Let’s eat out tonight!” and than I ate a big meal during diet for 2 days in a row And of course my family is Asian 😂
relatable af lol everytime im on a diet, delicious food from outside magically appears on the dinner table. thank you parents i'll enjoy the food, diet for next time iguess
Yea the meal is light, 1 rice, chicken, gravy, burger, fries, and mcflurry is low for me, the real heavy for me is 2-4 rice and whatever meal I need, tho I nowadays eat 1/2 or less rice, I will enjoy light meals every now and then
This is the opposite of my mum who wants me to get thin and always chastises me whenever I order McDonalds. I stan Mysta's mum. She knows her son deserves a bit of a cheat day.
Honestly arent they always like this, there was a time were I was on a diet, and as a filipino, we always have rice on every meal, then I decided to quit rice intakes and be cautious on what I eat, like reduce carbs, fats, sugar and something like that, not just a week past, and my mom told me to eat properly even if I was on a diet, note that I am really properly eating a balanced meal, and she told me to eat proper meals which she thinks it has to have rice, fats, high sugar and sodium and all the foods I was trying to take out or reduce out of my diet
Lol, I think this is a very normal Asian mom’s attitude. I have the same problem with my mom. Apparently, you would always appear too thin for them, no matter how heavy you are. I am not fat, but I would like to maintain my weight, and my mom made it difficult for me to do so. 🤣🤣🤣
For us in the ph, McDonalds burger meals are treated as a snack. Like a burger, fries, coke, and ice cream is a typical snack here in fastfood restaurants. A real meal here would include rice and a variety of viands. Viands area usually meat based, seafood based, vegetable based, or a mix. Something that really fills the tummy.
