Sorry for your loss...my mom was 51 only ( 21- 5 2012) dad is still here but doesn't care about anyone after mom passed. I haven't seen him in a very long time as he married again and is supposedly enjoying his life. Mom lived a very fulfilled life. I think it's not really about how long one lives but the impact one makes. ❤

However,, like anything else that we humans don't understand, it's our nature to find explanations to phenomena that's beyond our experience.and understanding. Humans explanations may be literally false but metaphorically true . Creation stories give us something to hang our hopes on .The stories we tell about creation gives us some assurance and emotional security in the context of our existence. We are emotional creatures so stories ,if even untrue, fills some gap in our emotional fabric and our desire for answers. In that sense, he isn't talking nonsense, he's giving his version of creation as he knows it. His answer is one of different perspectives on the same existential questions humans have been asking since the dawn of time. If there is a God, who created all things, How did that God came about in the first place? Did that God created " Itself " or has that God always existed.
