Kelsey began experiencing concerning symptoms while finishing graduate school like severe itchy legs, fatigue, stress, and allergy issues. She then noticed a quarter sized lump on her neck that continued to grow even with multiple rounds of antibiotics. Overnight, the lump swelled massively to the size of an egg. After a biopsy, she was then diagnosed with stage 2A Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.
In this video, she shares how she went through ABVD chemotherapy, her treatment side effects including neutropenia and pneumonia and how it's important to advocate for yourself!

I had Hodgkin’s lymphoma too at 26. I had a swollen lymph node on my neck , they gave me antibiotics too and it wouldn’t go away , I finally had a fine needle aspiration and they basically said I had lymphoma . I had surgery to remove a piece of the lymph node to confirm the diagnosis and it was confirmed . Before I started chemo I started sweating profusely all the time even in the middle of winter . I went through 6 months of chemo , it wasn’t horrible but it definitely sucked . I was in remission for 2 years and it came back so I had to do chemo again and have a stem cell transplant which required me to be quarantined for a month while my immune system got stronger. I’ve been cancer free for 6 years now :)

Kelsey, what you're describing about these doctors is blatant negligence. A biopsy should have been done immediately, and especially when antibiotics didn't work the FIRST time. Inexcusable! Hope you're journey is a positive one. By the way, Hodgkin's lymphoma is highly curable, while non-Hodgkin's is far more serious.

I was diagnosed (after a biopsy and PET scan) with Stage 4B (widespread) Hodgkins lymphoma in 2017 after a really bad bout of shingles ...and continued weight loss. I started ABVD chemotherapy and - after two weeks - my bloods miraculously appeared to be coming back to normal. After 4 weeks I had another PET scan and the cancer had completely disappeared! My haematologist prudently kept me on the 6 month chemo course but removed bleomycin as it can adversely affect your lungs. At the end of the 6 months, I had no chemo for a month, then had another PET scan which again showed no cancer. In 2022, I was signed off as a survivor. I was treated free of charge by our wonderful NHS in the UK. (The only side effects from the chemo are numbness on my fingertips and on the soles of my feet caused by the vinblastine dosage).

So good to see and hear. A close friend got dx with HL eight years ago when she was 61. She’s fine now. I’m a 24-year breast cancer survivor. I wish you everything good.

She states that it was not necessary for her to get a second opinion at MD Anderson, which is a cancer Center but I have been an oncology nurse for 15 years at a cancer center and I will tell you that no matter what your cancer is, It is always worth a second opinion and when it comes to treatment if you can get to a cancer center that would be ideal.. Many times I have seen that when a patient comes for a second opinion we will do another biopsy and find that the first diagnosis was incorrect . in the event that your first and second lines of treatment do not work, a cancer center will have multiple lines of therapy to offer you along with clinical trials. You will get them faster and more efficiently If you have already been a patient there rather than waiting to transfer all your medical records over.

What rude and unnecessary comment. She is telling her story in her own way. There is room in this world for people of kinds of affects and energy to be represented and I am sure she resonated with many. No need to comment. Don't watch and move on with your life.

Maybe you should get some help. Not everything has to be negative. I'm sure she's not worried about her CANCER story not being good enough for you. Like she said at the end, "Cancer people aren't just zombie people walking down the hospital. "
