I randomly got recommended this. You listed down gods of dnd, now I’m making a character of great mystery for a campaign as a whole as a simple cleric looking to be pontiff.
My wife’s Druid/Bard has the Magic Initiate feat, Arcana skill, and some formal wizard training, so I’m allowing her to develop it over time into a kind of Hedge Wizard.
Personally Mystra is at least in my favorite deity of all time and watching this brought me a good memories back when I was a playing my first and favorite character. I have served Mystra throughout many hardships, tragedies, past lives and even saving her couple of times so, that the weave doesn't collapse again. She even offered of me becoming her chosen, but I declined due to many in game complications. So, I got pretty nostagic when I listen you talking about her, so thank you very much, made me happy. 😊 As a DM I like take the more kinder aspect of Mystra that cares and trust her follower's very immensely , but I do note that in my portraly she has almost zero tolerance to anything that could repeat history and destory magic (Looks at the Time of Troubles & Spellplauge), because loves and values the connection that we have with magic and with eachother. As Someone who loves Wizards, magic related stuff or anything magical, I do wanna praise and thank the Lady of Mysteries, Our Lady of Spells and Mother of All magic that she has allowed us to keep sharing magical moments like this Video. But, to end this and not to go on too long, I wanna say love your art, love it a lot, Keep up the good work, thank you for this video, thank you for reminding me of past games and I wish that your videos shall be blessed by Mother of All Magic.😁
Another awesome video on the gods by the Loremaster himself. Thanks LL. Might be a little greedy to say this, but I'm really hoping you eventually decide to do an Azuth video, especially now that you've done one on the primary goddess he relates to. The patron god of wizards and spellcasters and the lore I've read up on myself about some of his followers being knights and mage hunters that keep evil spellcasters in check is just super interesting to me, personally. That, alongside the crazy lore he has regarding his relation to Asmodeus, has me dying to see how you would envision him yourself, both artistically and from a roleplay perspective.
Sweet Lady Mystra! Good video. Loving the lore. I do love the Seven Sister. My intro to the realms was the Avatar Crisis books, so I got Mystra and Mystra 2.0 😂
I can't find the video anymore unfortunately but in BG3 (and this is also written in the Forgotten Realms Wiki) Minsc talks about how young rashemi mages were hidden away when learning to wield the Weave to avoid catching Mystra's attention. Was just wondering about this, if it's part of her personality / antics that she recruits impressionable minds? Thanks :3 &
05:35 That part got me really confused. Did they change the events or introduced conflicting stories to make it more ambiguous what might actually have happened? Cyric, as far as I know did not become a god after Slaying Midnight/Mystra. Cyric became a god during/after the time of troubles and killed her about 27 years later. I never heard that story of Cyric becoming a god after killing Midnight and being stopped by Kelemvor after going on a rampage. But I love the Idea that the story gets more and more confused as time goes on and in the end noone will be able to tell, what really happened at what time. Would be fitting. :D
@@itslegendlore I'm Russian, I forgot how this word is spelled in English. In general, I’m talking about those warlocks who made a deal, for example, with Jin or Ifrit or Dao or Morid.
@@Nathan_Payne Ahhhh gotcha gotcha! That’s the Genie Warlock. And I suppose they could work for those who work with elemental magic or magical creatures
normally i agree that mystra should have all the domains xP but to just say "all domains" even those that are very distant like nature feels like a cop out so i wanted to specify them
Firt of all, great video. I enjoyed very much, especially the deteails about his organization and rituals, great job (She has tooo many by the way 😂) Personally, I have always hated Mystra, I think that being the reason why magic is so limited, mortals have their growth stagnant, and preventing the existence of another civilization as advanced as the Netheril is reason enough to have problems with her. But what really piss me off is she says advocates research, discovery and experimentation but when there is a big change in the world of magic she always rushes to maintain the status quo like a referee, lterally dying 2 times already because of it , I doubt this will ever happened but I can't wait for another god to take away his portfolio, hopfully an enemy like Shar or Cyric.😅
I have a bit of a newbie question on the arcane if you don't mind: how does arcane magic differ from divine? And do clerics of Mystra, Godess of the arcane, cast devine magic? PS: Love the cloud throne. Very etherial and cosmic
No worries! Arcane magic comes directly from the Weave which is distinctly different from Divine. Divine magic is magic that comes directly from the gods to their followers. Mystra is a special case cuz she can manipulate the Weave, but if she were to give one of her followers power directly, that would be considered Divine. But she can also give her followers direct access to the Weave, which would be Arcane Basically, from the Weave = Arcane, from the Gods = Divine
I’ve played both an Arcane Cleric & a Paladin of the Order of the Weave. Great fun. Each one gets arcane cantrips & 2 specific arcane spells of each spell level. The Paladin has a special duty to protect the Weave & special magical sites.
@@itslegendlore wasn't it that weave was made to help channel raw magic into more controllable magics. Hence when weave was disturbed and blue fires appeared it was chaotic to cast spells and often overpowered casters. I recall a tid bit saying that arcane magic was mortals manipulating the weave and divine being divines tucking the weave for their mortal followers etc.
