Myth: The Fallen Lords (TFL) Playthrough Mission 1: Crow's Bridge Played on Myth 2 Engine with the Fallen Levels Plugin Legendary Difficulty No Casualties
Why has no developer, including Bungie, not think to either do a "Remake" or new Myth Game, especially with the graphic technology of today? Head scratcher for such a Great Game concept.
I agree with you completely that I would love a remake or similar game, but to be honest this game is a hidden gem that not a lot of gamers know about and that is probably the reason for that. Considering how good of a game it was and how little people know about it I wonder if it just isn't a type of game that many people are interested in. There was a game called "Deadhold" that was being developed by a very small team that was making a game that was heavily influenced by Myth that took on more than they could chew and also I think part of it was they were not getting as much interest as they hope. Yeah, I know it is sad and disappointing but I think this is the reality. It is a shame because if a lot of strategy gamers played these games I think they would absolutely love it.
I don't remember the name, but there was a game in development that was heavly inspired by Myth. A "spiritual sucessor", but It was cancelled for some reason.
Myth was created by the old, pre-Microsoft, pre-Xbox Bungie. The Halo Bungie is incapable of capturing the spirit and quality of Myth because it lacks the talent and vision to do so. For example, just compare side-by-side videos of Half-Life (1998) and Halo (2001), to see the huge difference/drop in quality on all levels.
Tomis, I hear what you are saying but consider a couple things. One is that Jason Jones still works at Bungie as the CEO and he is the same guy who made a lot of these early games happen. Some of the differences in how they do games is just based on the way games are made today vs then. I mean back then teams could be small for big time games but now they are much larger. The other thing with Half-life vs Halo is not completely fair because Halo was made for a video game console that was not as powerful as a computer at that time. Also it was made so that it could run four players simultaneously. My point is that there are some technical reasons why it was the way it was beyond just Bungie not being as talented as they used to be
Old games like this are so charming. I never played this game, but everything from the 2D/3D blend of graphics and the voice lines radiates nostalgia just the same.
This game IS A masterpiece! I do remember how tough it was. It was not the game for the ones with faint spirit but it was so rewarding when you win. And I have no words to describe how great and epic was the story of this game. Thank you for your playthrough!
I remember running this game as kid in like 2000 (maybe 1999, maybe 2001, not sure). It was just freaking dark, slower and finally - so much more interesting than what we see in this video. But this is just magic of my brain's childhood memory combined with rapid technological leap of computer games.
If you havent beat it, you should consider playing along with my in-depth video playthrough as I am sure you will get some strategies where needed to dominate the campaign.
finaly found it i use to play this game on my 1st computer but i never knew what the name of the game was since i was to young to remember man good time :)
I still have Myth: The Total Codex & The Wolf Age in their big boxes. Great fucking games. Great stories, gameplay, music...man. The music especially. Just brilliant. Also a huge fan of Bungie's Marathon series.
Nice! I'll probably brush up on Marathon at some point. I started doing my in-depth videos starting from the first Bungie game Gnop! and now Operation Desert Storm is coming soon. Some day I will get to Marathon hopefully.
Myth 3 was made by a design team put together by Take 2 just for the purpose of making Myth 3. And of course, they wanted it on an accelerated schedule and low budget.
@@Jeoku no clue, lol. I worked with a couple ppl and made a combo mod tool called something lame like Twysted Mytal or some such, haha.. was an editor of some sort 😂
Ah, I remember having 6 Gigs of RAM, 4 out of that totally free and it still asked for more... Then I set my /MAXMEM= to 1792MB. It did not help, so I had to go down till 256MB. It was a real pain in the ass to run my PC that slow. Then it was even worse setting it back. The game lagged badly too, but damn it worth every millisecond! ❤
Myth TFL has not been supported by the Myth community for a very long time. They just use the Fallen Levels plugin for Myth 2. If you try to get the original to work well, it's a major pain.
@@Jeoku Believe it or not, I've built my own PC with many friends' help and a bunch of money (and we shared it among each other). A bit tinkering here, a bit tinkering there. We love it like our own child (basically it is). It's become a complete mess by the time, but miraculously, it works. I'm still upgrading it sometimes, but it's nearing its limit (and so does my wallet, lol). So one could say I was ahead of time. It started off as a WinME, and is a multi-OS beast at the moment. This kind of thing has never been impossible. One just has to have some IT madmen as friends who are willing to experiment. :)
hey, i have this game on CD. However i can't seem to play it on my computer cause its not compatible, Because of the OS. Windows 10 pro. Do you know how i could play it, running this system? thank you! need help!
lacuevadelvampiro Try running in compatibility mode. Otherwise I recommend getting Myth 2. There is a fan made plugin of the TFL campaign that you can play on Myth 2.
Total war warhammer 1 and 2 are both arguably the best fantasy strat games to ever come. Myth is great, and I have great memories of these games, but to knock all total war games is just ridiculous just because it doesn't fit whatever perception of perfect that you think it should be. The Warhammer games are better than any other game I've ever played and probably ever will play, and I know many who would agree with that statement. I'll admit CA does try and squeeze every penny out of their customers with the DLC's, but I'd pay every penny for every DLC just because *it's* *that* *good* and I will probably play it until the day I die just like this dude making these videos playing a game over 20 years old. And, I love warhammer, so it's even better. The fact that I can play many of my *favorite* characters from any fantasy setting ever sets the game far above anything else I've played, and probably will play.
@@shizmanbeat Thank you for saying this. Both games are special. And each dlc for warhammer have been worth their weight in gold. Especially the recent ones that have either added new races with unique play styles are augmented existing ones with very flavorful mechanics . Ill take that over dumping 2000 dollars into skins in a gacha game or modern mtx anyday. That being said there are very few games in the great history of gaming that deserve a faithful remaster/remake as the myth series. Myth did not deserve to die so unceremoniously with 3
@@shizmanbeatehh, I wouldn't say it's good since the majority of the games tactics revolve around just charging your enemies and hope for the best also the siege sucks, meanwhile Myth and older total war games require you to think your tactics and approach in regards to battle.
It's not distributed electronically for sale anywhere. Hopefully Take2 changes this at some point. I am not going to tell you where you can download it otherwise because it's not technically legal.
