So yeah, just to reiterate, very much not for me as a game. I like drama, tensions, conflict and a sense of progression. Mythwind seems to actively not want me to feel those things. I'm sure it will have a huge number of fans who find its very cosy style perfectly suited to them. But me, i feel like the game doesn't value my time.
I've played the Stardew Valley Board Game, and I found that game really intense considering that the goal is to win the game via working on ALL the goals in the Community Center...IN ONE YEAR! If you're NOT playing the game with the Community Center Victory Condition in mind, then I can probably see Stardew Valley as a cozy game.
Galzyr yes, but EBR is somewhere between those and a traditional campaign game. It has a beginning and an end and you can lose, sorta, although the difficulty is deliberately set to casual.
I was so excited for this, solo played about 6 sessions totalling 18 hours and felt like it was solved and i was just going through the motions to progress the story. I've heard of people resetting the town and characters halfway through in order to bring some game back to the game but I just gave up and sold my copy. It's a real shame because I love the idea, just not the execution.
I like comfy, but I do not think I'd like this. It does seem like a grind and it does seem like it lacks interactivity. Yes, it's hard to do excitement without fights or a massive cascading peril, but it is possible! (Not enthused about the plastic trays either.)
It's like sitting down to watch a tv show, and there's no conflict. Just folks going about their day, stacking a shelf, talking about what they watched on tv last night, lol
@@3MBG For folks with a lot of conflict or threat in their day-to-day real life, could be pretty appealing, but it sounds more like a meditation than a game. To me a game needs an element of uncertainty; which definitely doesn't have to be terrifying or traumatic, but there's got to be some kind of stakes and as a player you've got to care about them.
"Hale and Pace" 90s era British sketch comedy show. The "But i just got comfy" thing became a meme with my friends for years. Whoever was standing had to go make everyone a cup of tea, because we had all just got comfy, that sorta thing.
As I've said elsewhere, this game doesn't respect anyone's time. It's not cozy, though it does have an annoying aspect that a lot of cozy video games have - grind. So maybe the designers think grind = cozy? If so, that's not why I play cozy games. There's a lot of potential here, but a lot of the design choices stop it from being a good game. It's just okay.
I’m guessing stardew valley is like video game Story of Seasons / Farmville with choose your own paths but each path has time-sensitive seasonal events, character interactions and goals you can opt in? 😊 These games target at specific types of gamers. It’s not everyone’s cup of tea 🍵 😋
