I truly think all cars VW, Volvo, BMW, Mercedes all put these electronic buttons in the cars to keep us coming back to the dealership. You'd think we would have reached a point that we have less reason for servicing
Completely agree with you about the infotainment system, functions and buttons in new Volvos. Had an XC60 D4 AWD 2019 until November. Changed to an XC40 P6 2023. So disappointed with the info system, the absence of the light button for the screens, many button presses to reach the steering assistant, the app that does not connect to the car, etc. The list goes on. Unfortunately, also a lot of major serious faults with drive shafts, springs, suspension mounts and vibrations in the car. Thinking of switching to XC60 T6 AWD but want better infotainment system. Volvo's old one worked just fine. Thanks for the good test. 😊
I found you can adjust pretty much every single feature / function by voice no need to push any buttons / tap the screen, works flawlessly for me, turn on off pretty much everything, adjust temperature, navigation etc etc. I hardly ever touch any buttons anymore. The air suspension is excellent.
For sure the infotainment system used in the Polestar 3 will be the future. I think Android wasn't ready to fit Volvo cars. At least not yet. I think it was implemented a little bit on a hurry and in some way kinda messy. I have a XC60. Late 2019 model year. With all the updates done since then till these days. Also my maps are updated aswell. 1400 version. Better looking in the center of the driver's cluster and more kinda Google maps style. My car has 3,5 years and 120 000 km. So far no problem at all. Did all the maintenance at Volvo. It's a D4 + Polestar Engineered optimisation. FWD. Less weight. Slightly better consumptions and performance compared to the AWD that weights almost more 100 kg. Overall I'm really happy. And i also have air suspension. 0 problems. I agree that Sensus can't match the navigation on the Google maps by Android Automotive. But in everything else i think that Sensus was better.
Sensus is stable, good and user-friendly infotainment system. But, it's "only" flow is the navigation, cause I couldn't rely on it. Google maps are much better/more practical. And for me, navigation is the most crucial part of the infotainment. But I agree that some options on the new infotainment are far from practical (especially if you want to de-select the pilot assist option during the ride). Regarding the ride comfort, choosing a proper tyre model and wheel size (19" is a sweet spot) will improve your ride comfort. Air suspension has it pros (best comfort, off road capabilities), but there are some cons as well (long term maintenance, system that is more sensitive and prone to malfunctioning). I would go for an air suspension option only if I go for the better looks (bigger wheels and low profile tyres). Very nice and useful review. Your comments are highly valuable and appreciated. Agree with almost all the comments except the Sensus v Android. I have the 2018 XC90 hybrid and the infotainment is one of the only weak points of this high quality car. It's prone to bugging and the information is poorly presented. The system shown in the Polestar 3 is the future and I can't wait to see it in the EX90. Volvo has cleverly left the infotainment to the experts and nothing else matches it. Even the BMW / VW systems are a mess in comparison
The Sensus vs Android are a hot topic. There's a bunch of praise around for the Android. Not so much the other way. However when comparing these systems it's obvious that the level of functionality are decreased with Android. Some functions are completely gone, or buried into the menu's. Take some simple tasks like in navigation. With Android. Try to change the order of your destinations? When 2 or more destinations set. Or just try to type in two destinations? Can't be done... Also can't look at media while using the navigation. I could talk for hours about this topic. Android may be the expertt on smartphones, but not car infotainment. In my opinion that is.
Remember that the current generation was not designed for Google but Sensus. In the next generation we won't have this compromise as it will be designed for the next infotainment generation.
Probably, but that's also one of the reasons why I can't understand why Volvo implemented this system.. Wasn't designed for these cars, wasn't ready developed and it wasn't on pair or better then current infotainment.. I'm hoping the EX90 will have a better infotainment
@@volvo_kristian "Navigate to [final destination]". "Navigate to [intermediate destination]". Two quick commands and works every time. The only problem is when [final destination] is actually where you are now! (i.e. you want to go there and back again, and you want the electric power to be averaged across both journeys).
Maybe possible to do by voice.. My point was try to type in two destinations. That's not possible. Can only write in one.. And if more destinations set you can't change the order of your itinerary.
I love the honesty of your reviews. The good, the bad and the ugly are things regular consumers are looking for. The way you explained it makes them relatable. I think your first theory about the air suspension is the sad truth. Still haven't experienced the new Android MY23 on anything long term but the more I see of it the less I want it. Despite the bugs in the previous Sensus that still haven't been addressed years down the line. (Not too sure VOLVO actually understands how much keeping the software up to date and improving it actually impacts the user experience of the car) I 2nd the B&W system. I added it on the last day of change for our current car and have not regretted it one single second. Having lived with it I regret not adding it in the first place. Just do it =)
See your point with the Sensus system, and agree there. I partly understand why Volvo went outside for their next generation infotainment, but there's a major difference between these two systems. One being a infotainment made WHILE driving, and now this new system appears to be a infotainment made when stationary.
So far your complaining over small issues can adjust when you buy one but then its all about your wallet , T8 Ultimate/Ultra fully loaded here again WALLET/BANK-ACCOUNT , In Volvo XC60 hybride got Core a basic, Then Plus Edition and Ultimate/Ultra and all is about price......... So far i didnt got any seriously point from you though, all depends on Taste either one like/love Hotdogs orrrrr Steak orr Fish and chips This car is The Best of in comparison to other brands.
Volvo has become really bad quality car. I have a V90 T8 Recharge 22 year model with Google Android and the car has been in the workshop 6 times, it is the worst Volvo i have owned and the most expensive and the one that has had the most problems with everything from broken heating in the cabin, software that causes the car locks, etc. will try to return the car and unfortunately it will probably never be a Volvo again.
