Näckens polska [ENG SUBS] 

The medieval Norwegian mystical poem "Draumkvæde" tells the visions of Olav Åsteson, who falls asleep for thirteen days and sees the Afterlife. In "Scandinavian Spirits" Brú journeys between otherworldly realms and Nordic legends, lifting the veil that separates reality from mystery.
The Näcken is a shape-shifting water spirit how normally lures its preys with the sound of music and then drowns them. In this Swedish polska however, the 1812 text by A. Afzelius suggests a more poetic image: the King of the Sea rises from the waters in a dark silent night, to sing of his long lost beloved Frejya. The golden haired goddess had once lived with him as his bride, but later forsook the ocean for the skies, where she now abides surrounded by shimmering stars. As the sound of his harp fades away leaping from rock to rock, the Näcken is left alone with his solitary fate.
