Not sure if you have since acquired a noise source or not but a good quality noise source which is amplitude levelled across a broad frequency range can be a good substitute for a tracking generator. Such can be used successfully to tune duplexer filter cavities etc. as well. I have used both a tracking generator and a noise source with near equal results. It is necessary to average or "smooth" the trace a bit when using the noise source but it does give usable results :).
