Most PS4 power supplies usually fail in the same areas. Let me show you what usually fails. I am not an expert and my videos are unedited but maybe this will help out a few of my fellow techs. Follow us on Facebook: / ps4repair101
Thank you game console repair legion for making this video and heck, for all videos you make! I was able to repair the power adapter to my days of play console! I will definitely subscribe! Once again thanks! P.S.----Don't pay any attention to negative comments. People's negative comments only show their ignorance and being full of foolish pride. How so? If you were to tell these negative commenters "oh yea you are correct and I was wrong", first they will bath in the tribute, then they will immediately tone it down a notch and let you know "ah you are ok. what you did was not all that bad or I was just playing around..... So basically it is to feel superior and the desire for tribute that these type of people want.
Hi, appreciate the video and everything worked (power supply turned on and provided 12V when prompted, but as soon as it did, the new resistor I put in (same 16.2Ω 1% resistance from mouser) exploded. Should I try putting in a different (maybe bigger?) resistor or is it because something else is sending too much voltage through it? Also worth noting, even once it burned out, current jumped across the terminals of the resistor and continued to power the 12V.
Thanks for your help! Btw, got question to ask: Every time I power off my PS4 slim, I can't turn it on again. Power button don't work, eject button don't work, not even any beep. The only way to turn it on again is to open the PS4, take the powersupply, disconnect the power supply from the motherboard, reconnect it again, and put the power supply back in. After doing that, the power button and eject button work perfect again, well at least after the next power off. So I end up never shut down my ps4 slim. Do you know what might be the problem here?
Hola amigo, entonces lo resolviste? Imagino que sabes de estas cosas yo intento a pesar de que no soy técnico podría cambiar la pieza pero.. como se llama esa pieza
My 2115b PS4 slim will sometimes not turn on or even beep when the eject is pressed, but when it does work; it stays on without any issues for hours at a time. What would you think is the problem?
Hello friend, from Argentina, your videos are very good, I have the same source, which burned me two smd resistors, number r822, and I do not know what value it has, could you tell me the value of these resistances? thanks greetings from argentina
I changed one MOSFET 60S600P7, it was in short. And place another 16 Ohm Resistor. The power supply generate the 4,8V of standby but it not generate the 12V. Could you help me what can I do?
I buyer power supply this model n15-160p1a for my ps4 slim, nevertheless the original power supply the my ps4 slim is: adp-160cr, ¿powerr supply n15-160p1a is compatible with model adp-160cr?
For a level of repair you should choose the career of electronics technician, that would be enough to repair video game consoles. To create circuits from scratch and obtain a master's degree in electronics you must choose an electronics engineer
Bro! Please Help Me.. My PS4 Slim is not turning on. When i press the power button, it gives a beep sound with blue light but never turns on. Sometimes it works but its very rare. Once, while pressing the power button continuously for 30sec it throw a huge amount of white smoke from its back- left hand side. I got scared because it was like in movies, abundance amount of white smoke. Then I turned it on, it worked like a charm after white smoke. But the very next day when i tried it again, it gave me the same the beep + blue light. Can you please tell me what i can do? I feel like some capacitor sort of thing must have got busted or fused. Please give me some suggestion I'll try to resolve in my home. I know basic soldering and electronic stuff. Please help me.
Mine gave problem in the Mosfet that you changed, I would like to know the name of this or a similar one with the same voltage amperage because I live in Brazil and I can't find this model, and I don't know if a mosfet from any source would solve the problem, because it would be easier there.
I see a little burn spot on mine. The person I got it from must of had bugs. But I have it apart but don't know how to fix.. And it sucks I want to play.
Just buy the power supply on the internet. And replace it. Don't try to fix it yourself. I've heard it's dangerous. Could damage the whole console. And even cause a fire.
I carried out this repair and got the power supply working again. Shortly after it has failed again. Is there anything else that could be causing the failure?
michael tuckey maybe it shorted or maybe some type of Capacitor or fuse went out I say get your voltmeter and test it again check your solder points and if all else buy a new power supply
HEY man My Ps4 slim power supply (ADP-160Cr) got smoked while im playing But my ps4 not turn off itself so ill unplug it immediately,,,, i open it ive noticed some liquid chemical was come out on both sides of the PCB
So i noticed in the beginning of the video when u plugged it in u pressed the power and eject button but my eject button beeps just not my power button will this still work
@@RepairLegion Hello! Thanks for the feedback! I have another question, maybe you can help me ... I've been able to test the source off the PS4, and apparently it's working. The 12v and the 5v are coming off as it should. But the console does not turn on, if you press the power button, it beeps and does nothing, it does not turn on any led. If you press the eject button, it makes 3 beeps and does not eject the disc. You do not even want the cooler to spin. I forced the source to stay connected with the 12v direct and when connecting the PS4 in the outlet, the cooler turns and soon to, but also does not turn on the console. In this way, if you connect the power supply to the power outlet and get "moving", the orange led flashes, but it also does not work. Could this problem be related to the source? Or is it some more serious problem? Is it worth buying a new source and taking chances?
@@RepairLegion Thanks for the feedback! I've just bought a new PSU and ETA is next thursday. I will install it, test and let you if it works. If even a new PSU does'nt solve the problem, do you have any ideas which i could try to solve this issue?
Hello @PS4 Repair 101 My new PSU arrived, I installed it and the problem persists. Just one beep when I try to connect and 3 beeps when I try to eject the disc (the disc is inside but not ejected) Any idea what might possibly be the problem?
I have a ps4 slim and I opened the power supply, on the cover under where the power supply goes it looks like brownish like if so,etching burned up, on the back of the board on the green where ur fixing it looks kinda weird like if it burned too but I grabbed the board and it shocked me? Lol dumbass my heart hurts
@@zoheb4you2002 I used that 16.2Ω 1% from Mouser Electronics that he shows, but it burn out. I haven’t figured out what to do. I think either something is broken or shorting and sending too much power or I need a higher power rated resistor
