N4 Faction Overview: USARF

Austin starts off our new Faction Overview series by going over the USAriadna Ranger Force! These are mostly meant for newer players or people just getting into the game, but can also help you seasoned veterans decide if you want to get into a new sectorial or not!
Let us know which factions you want to see next!

A lot of people out there think these guys are bad now because of the window. You nailed it in the last minute of your video. Go 8/7 put the core in the 8 the Harris in the 7. Since we’re not spamming anymore we can take extra quality. Pick between a core marauder or minutemen, Harris the one you don’t core, add Van Zant, Rosie, Unknown & fill with your flavor (out of habit I always take a wardriver, fo foxtrots, and grunt paramedics).

I think USARF is completely fine and fun to play. I think they benefit greatly from knowing their matchup, terrain and mission greatly before playing. Unlike other armies that will only switch a few things based on the matchup, I feel USARF has to switch several things. The feeling of a relentless under your nose type offense and annoying ablative defense makes them fun. They have some rough matchups but they are winnable. Some other good profiles not highlighted as much: HSG devil dog, LT foxtrot, assault pistol airborne, assault pistol desperado, Marauder BSG, marauder paramedic.

Im new to the game, new to your channel. So much excellent info. I got into the game with Operation Coldfront. Im wondering if I made a mistake and should have gone USARF!!! I also got the Beyond Coldfront set. Im yet to have a game in Code One or N4 it must be said. Is this Ariadna force any good and what should I look at to make it better. Id appreciate your advice for this newbie. By the way fantastic overview for this part of Ariadna

Everything in this sectorial is solid! If your seeking a more defensive playstyle and want to learn all the ends and outs of Ariadna, this is the sectorial that I personally recommend for newbies. You see how Dogfaces work, intro to camo, airborne troops, "Rambo" pieces. It has a little bit of everything that is just SOLID picks to start your journey in N4! You literally cannot go wrong starting with USARF! - Austin

The infiltration grunt does not need to roll to infiltrate on your side of the board. You can roll -3phys to try and get on opponent's side, but no one will want to do this!

Kinda new to Infinity but what's the point of dogged? The way I understand it you get to keep the dogged alive and running until the end of the turn. So tactically you would almost never want to activate dogged on an enemy turn unless the unit is at a particular annoying position for the enemy so you could continue aro. You could also activate dogged to keep fireteam bonuses(?). Am I missing something, am I correct? Is there something else you could use dogged for?

I think Dogged is for ARO duty or trying again. If you use that model to advance and shoot and you get hit, it basically allows you to keep using the model since you know it will die at the end of turn. So use it as much as you can.

I feel like we should treat these guys the same as the ones coming out later this year. Good positivity here for sure but I expect by November this faction will see some desperately needed updating

Oh dang! Austin forgot to mention him! Wild Bill is great. In ForCo, I prefer the Rifle profile, but I can understand some people using the Contender in a link. It's all about getting those multi-pistols into range. - Nathan

Yea sorry, he's an wasn't a sectorial specific unit so I had skipped him. He is SOLID! He counts as a Grunt for fireteam purposes so he can only make them better. If you have the extra points gi withthe rifle profile. If not its fine. Its the Multi-pistols that are gonna get him the kills!- Austin

@@alexandercalle180 it was not properly redesigned for N4. In N3 everything was useful except the UKR and to some extend minutemen, everything else could be combined creating an army with lots of variations and play styles. In N4 many profiles just don't make sense anymore or are just hopeless filler, with the huge buf to the UKR the profile has become an auto include in all the lists basically because it's the only profile that keeps the army playable. During N3 in limited insertion usarf had a 36% win ratio, the ukr is not enough to balance that specially against armies with 17 or more regular orders, odd, to, visors lvl2 etc. It's just sad to see this army loose it's combined arms flavour.

@@alexandercalle180 If you are asking if vanilla is stronger than usarf then the answer is yes. But in an ideal world you should play whatever you like the most and corvus should keep working in the balance of the already sold factions.
