What an amazing match from Ferrer. And how humble he is....

Ferrer is great but although he is fit, fast and mentally tough he just doesn't have enough weapons on the court to win a grand slam. For his height of 175cm when most male pros are 185cm or more, he is amazing.

Ferrer is the king of doing what the opponent doesn't want. His pressure tactics are one of the best in the game.

Having missed both semi finals. I checked my sky planner to see when the Nadal/Djokovic final was going to be on, took a double take when i seen Ferrer's name. Well done David!

Right after losing his service game at 5-6 ,the commentator said Rafa was crushed & so was he.. It was written large on his face & expression.. I can never forget that moment in my life... I was crushed too..

Powerful, powerful Ferrer....I've been watching him for a few years, and I've been thinking "this guy's amazing"...he really is the best if you take height into account....I wouldn't be surprised if he takes the no1 spot soon.
@gerrydelafino659

Why can he beat them in 3 sets and not in five? I can't see why not, since his specialty is fighting for his life on every single point, and an incredible endurance...

Who knows, maybe he´s got a chance if he keeps playing like this - aggressive, taking chances, with more variation in his game. You can´t beat players like Nadal, Djokovic or Murray by just hitting hard. But going on 32, instead of slowing down Ferrer is still getting better (e.g. his serve). He´s also one of the few players that never get injured. Freak of nature.

@gerrydelafino659
@gerrydelafino659 11 лет назад
Well he made the Roland Garros final this year....lost in 3 sets...it wasn't an endurance thing...he almost always makes the semis or quarters...sometimes the top 4 are out for different reasons...I dont understand why some people think he can't....

Rafa was utterly disappointed with this loss.. he really looked forward to play Novak in the final. Ferrer spoiled It. But then again, 2013 was Ferrer in his prime as well.

Ferrer didn't even celebrate the win. It was like he was apologetic to Rafa. Weird. If I had just beaten the world number 1 I would have shown a lot more than that!

I don't see him having the weapons to beat Novak or Rafa in a slam over 5 sets.

Rafa was just off on this timing, he was slower, and hitting with less depth. Ferrer was quicker, hitting with more depth, and served pretty well today. Cool to see Ferrer win, hope he puts the Djoker away.

Ferrer is a much better player than that moonballing beast on indoor hardcourt. Simple as that. This is just a routine.
@charliefan677
@charliefan677 10 лет назад
ibanezatleti He must be exausted after the tight final vs Djokovic. And he flew to London to play Nadal the 2nd day without any rest. A typical way how the moonballer flukes.
@charliefan677
@charliefan677 10 лет назад
r4gu1 The reason he won Australian Open 2009 was because of the slow ass courts and Fed was suffering from his back pain, no serve at all. The reason he won US Open 2010 and 2013 was that Djokovic run out of gas in the semis, also his draws in US Open were basically half retired players or one handers who cannot deal with his anti-tennis moonballing for 5 sets. It's a disgrace for tennis Nadal won 3 slams on hardcourt.
@ragu1daboss
@ragu1daboss 10 лет назад
Charlie Fan oh wow here comes the shitty excuses again of federer's back pain and djokovic running out of gases..seriously where do u get these info from..just accept the defeat nadal deserved to win his hard court grandslams. And btw nadal has been playing his whole career with the pain in his leg so stfu
@charliefan677
@charliefan677 10 лет назад
r4gu1 Those are not excuses. Those are real things happening to add to Nadal's infinite luck. In fact 80% of the excuses are from Nadal. When he lost, he said he was injured and all brainless guys believe in him. Healthy Nadal is invincible no? Actually Nadal has never been injured. Look at those who suffered from real injury or sickness, say Del Potro, Soderling, and many others, struggled to come back but never reached their previous level ever again. Unlike Nadal making injury excuses only to rest and dope to come back fluking in weak era.
@ragu1daboss

But Ferrer played great, take nothing away from him.
@surfjabroni
@surfjabroni 11 лет назад
Many players do better in 3 set matches. How often is Nadal beaten by someone over 5 sets? It takes someone super talented. I think Ferrer gets 100% out of his game, which is more than most but he is limited because of his height and lack of attacking weapons. Which slam is he going to win in 2014? I don't see it. He also has never beaten Federer, a guy who has a lot of variation.

I'm happy to have been wrong. I'm a fan of both. This wasn't a negative comment. Nadal has had more injuries and I was worried he didn't have the longevity. I'm all for a 40 year old Nadal sweeping up Roland Garros. We'll see.

What a pointless question! Should Ferrer keep winning till he dies in order for this victory to make sense? David is a uniquely inspirational player who showed what could be accomplished with discipline even when many of your opponents are more gifted than you.
