My grandfather Pechi Nadar migrated to Malaya in late 1800 and had his own toddy tapping contract. He migrated from Nagapatinam. I have no contact with my pangalis as my father had lost contact with them. I'm proud to be a Nadar.

The Nadars are the descendants of the Pandya king of Madurai. They (the Pandya king) once sought the help of Nayak to protect his country from the Chola king. Then the Nayaks captured Madurai pretending to rescue the Pandya country and chased the Nadar clan to the south. That's why there are more nadars in the south.They then spread their clans around the world again from there.

Nadar, Pallar, Paraiyar and many other Tamil communities were suppressed during Telugu VijayNagara era after the fall of Tamil Chola kingdom. Telugu VijayNagara kings implemented colour based VarnaShastra social hierarchy and suppressed the Tamil communities who were rebel to submit their land ownership to the king. The agricultural lands were forcibly taken away and they were suppressed to the lower section of the society.

For those whose opinions differ from what has been told in this video: It is true that Shanars suffered cruel inhuman things in the name of caste But no other caste properly claim Villavars . The main fighting force of Pandyas,Cheras and Cholas The Nadans who were the heads of shanars did not suffer any sufferings of Shanar.They ruled regions and were relatives of Kings such as Marthanda Varma .Marthanda Varma mentions Anada Padmanabhan nadar as his relative No other caste has any palaces of these 3 dynasties. but this caste has Eraniel Palace under them. There is no mention of Any of these dynasties giving Their princess to a caste who is inferior to kshatriya. But Pandyas did give their princess in marriage to Aadhithan of Kayamozhi who is a Nadan How could they Not be a kshatriya if even pandyas treat this caste as a equal to them. Furthermore A catholic history of Church in Theri region mentions a Nadan as Pandya.

Nadalvar is different from Shanar.Pls mention it.Nattu Gounders are also Nadalvar.The Ezhukarai Rayar of Nadar caste possibly descendants from Kongu Vellala Natu Gounders.All their history traces to Kongu and Suryavanshis and Gangas.Trippapur Nadans are of Ay Vellala clan and hence they claimed Palaces and now under their control.The Chola Uyyakondars of Kuttam and Agastheeswaram are also mentioned in Kongu history.U could see lot of similarities between Nattu Gounders and Nadars.All their habits are common except for tradition.Kalla Shanars Sedhirayars are of possible Kalla origin
