This was from Wide World of Sports, 1984. It aired right before the Los Angeles Olympics. Sorry for the poor quality. It's from an old video that I recorded of my idol who is my inspiration for life!
Nadia and Simone are 2 diametrically opposed styles, Simone is pure power, speed, perfection but no emotion nor any feminism at all while on the other hand Nadia is pure grace, artistry and poetry in motion!.Simone's pose, walk and running form is very masculine like and VERY mechanical while Nadia's walk is feminine, sensual and delicate like a rose!.I might not know much about gymnastics but I know artistry and grace when I see it, that's what I see when I watch Nadia perform!!!!.When I watch Simone I am amazed by her dominion and control of the athletic part of gymnastics but sadly there's not much artistry left to be touched and uplifted by😢😢😢
God bless her performing with those cameras flashing in her face. So dangerous. She didn't have to perform during her own celebration, but always wanting to prove herself.
Nadia comanecci una grande de la gimnacia me gusto lo que hizo en este deporte especialmente en montreal 76 mis palmas para ella grande niña única saludos desde lima Peru
Thankfully men's gymnastics is the "opposite". Aleksandr Safoshkin once quit because he was so weak at the age of 19 and joined the circus and chose the Still Rings Apparatus. Later, as he got older past the age of 25, he got more and more muscle on his upper body and got so much raw strength that the national team invited him to join the 2004 Olympics. Safoshkin continued to reign until his retirement at the "ripe" age of 32.
Michele Clark , I’ll be honest- I know nothing about gymnastics, just a spectator’s viewpoint. Nadia C. was so beautiful to watch, the grace and power is unbelievable. But, I’m sorry...I just see nothing amazing in Simone B. I’m sure she is an amazing athlete, but it’s not like watching Nadia or others I’ve seen. It’s all power and muscles- where is the grace, the femininity? It just feels very anti-climatic. Dull. Ah, but watching Nadia was literally like watching a cat... Just a layman’s opinion. ❤️🇺🇸
