Oh my goodness, Olga;s bar and beam performances in 1972 should have been the first perfect 10s!!! They are both awesome gymnasts, but credit where credit's due, Olga deserved it.
Yes, the skill level of Olga's routine on the uneven bars in 1072 was far more complex and skillful than Nadia's or anyone else's. Nadia's routine was really nothing special. She played it safe compared to Olga which is way she could do a "flawless" routine, as describe by the commentators. Despite the audience's reaction to Olga's 9.8 score, the judges would not change it because of their arrogance. OLGA SHOULD HAVE GOTTEN THE FIRST 10!! Compare both routines if you don't agree. And let's be honest, Nadia copied Olga's floor routine with her hand gestures. Olga was the first...and best.
@@motheroftwo5551 To start in this video they put Nadia's Compulsory Exercise on bars, and they did not put the Free Exercise which has much greater difficulty that you can see in the following link if you have not seen it ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-eBrwQ7-I6t8.html, there you can see that Nadia also had a much greater degree of difficulty. On the balance beam Nadia was much superior, she had elements that are currently worth more than Olga's. Nadia had links on the beam like an Aerial Cartwheel and a double twist on her dismount, which were worth more than Olga's backflip. On the bars Olga couldn't get a perfect 10 because to start with her dismount it is clear that she takes a step forward, and she didn't land with her feet firmly planted. On the floor, Nadia did not copy Olga in anything, you are wrong, in addition Nadia already did floor exercises with more difficult elements such as the double back that you can also see in the following link ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-y87BO6tnB08.html

Both are legends in gymnastics history! Personally I think Olga's rotation in uneven bar is more difficult. But for balance beam, Nadia's rotation is more difficult. I respect both!
They showed Nadia's compulsory routine, which was very simple. Her optional bar routine was difficult and more difficult than Olga's although both were very impressive for their time.
@@ElizaDolittleOlga did a move that they still do now on the beam which was rare in the 70's. Olga was more daring and exciting. Nadia stuck to the script and did it perfectly. The reason why Olga didn't get a 10 for her bar routine was because the judges didn't like the danger it had in it! That's why it's banned! I don't think Nadia has a move that is or was banned. I like Olga's routines better, but Nadia made her routines pretty and straightforward. They both are deserving of their accolades. I personally just think Olga was a little ahead of her time, but she did bring the viewership of gymnastics to another level!

Nadia on beam definitely, floor I think its Nadia, she has grace performing it, on the uneven bars, I think they both great. Although Olga on Uneven bar is I think harder, but they said its againts the judge wants.
Olga every time for me she deserved perfect 10, for her asymmetric bar work , she was and will always be remembered as the darling of gymnastics 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
I'd never heard of Olga Korbut, but holy moly, i was speechless from the first jump, first programme in this video. What a beautoful interpretation, creativity and control
And let's not forget, Olga's extraordinary performances were 4 years earlier than Nadia's, and that is a very long time in gymnastics. It's Olga each and every time for me.
Olga was realty better flawless and had more difficult routine than Nadia, she deserved 10 but as we know judges played favoritism that year we do not know the reason behind it but I go for Olga anyway.
Floor routine wow I cannot pick I enjoyed both. Nadia has more speed and better twists and flips haha can you tell I have no idea what they are called, but Olga is so precise, fluid and daring
Hands down these are the 2 best gymnasts the sport produced during the 70s- early 90s. Back when gymnastics was more about beauty, flexibility and fluidity as opposed to now where it's all about strength and height and difficulty of skills. I also think this is exactly how the uneven bars are meant to done. Now a days there's not a lot of transitioning between the high and low bars and it has become more reminiscent of the men's high bar. Same goes with floor exercises, there's very few dance elements and really not sure why they even still use music to women's floor routines. I will always love gymnastics and miss doing it but today it all looks the same. Not that it isn't impressive, it's just that every gymnast performs the same handful of skills. There has been so many awesome skills either banned or scored so low now that nobody does them. For example you don't see any dive front rolls or any rollouts anymore.
Sorry to all those Nadia fans in this comment section. But if we compare this routine in this video, Olga left Nadia on the dust. Olga's routine was a lot more challenging and complicated than that of Nadia. I think Olga should deserve a 10, with that performance. That was flawless and intense. 👏

Nadia was a great gymnast, but Olga was a legend. Still is. The reason she didn't get the perfect 10 in Munich was most likely politics. But, it's like you can trick the system, but you can't trick people. Olga Forever!
comparing these two immense talents is like comparing apples to oranges. comaneci was famous for her calm demeanor and accurate uncompromising technical skills. however, i have always had a soft spot for olga. there’s something. childlike, impish, and bubbly about her. the way she flips her head from side to side in her characteristic cute way made her fans adore her.
I prefer Olga Korbut. I believe she should have received more recognition just like Nadia had. We all know that Nadia was the first gymnast to achieve a perfect 10 in gymnastics, that’s why she got more recognition. Olga didn’t get as many perfect 10’s as Nadia because Nadia really focused on perfection and was very consistent. But if we watch Olga’s and Nadia’s styles on floor, beam and bars, they had completely different styles. Olga focused more on creative tumbles with a lot of flexibility. I love her floor routine and her performance at 1976 beam finals (where she does a move that requires A LOT of flexibility). And I don’t even have to mention the KORBUT FLIP on UNEVEN BARS!!! Until today, everyone gets impressed when they see replays of that move. I know that most people still prefer Nadia because of her influence in modern gymnastics, but I prefer Olga Korbut gymnastics style. Nevertheless, they both are legends of artistic gymnastics. And just a quick reminder, Olga’s first Olympics was in 1972, while Nadia’s was in 1976. So, before Nadia Comaneci, there was Olga Korbut.
I know nothing about gymnastics so I can’t say anything about the difficulty, but I honestly like Olga better. Yea Nadia is more elegant, but I like the more eye catching and daring looking moves that Olga does
Olga doing a layout backdive onto the floor behind her and popping up like it was something we all did every day was the moment that really got me! She was an amazing gymnast and i was in awe of her the moment she stepped out on the mat all those years ago. Nadia was also memorable, and everything she did was perfect, but i think Olga innovated and took more chances back then. That is not to say Nadia didn't have her ow "wow" moment - she did when she came out in her uneven bar routine by vaulting over the lower bar in a complete split and then grabbing the high bar for a another foray into perfection! If you could pit them against today's gymnasts, they would have a lot of learning and practicing to do because Simone Biles and the like have raised the ceiling so high with completely NEW moves and the degree of difficulty they bring that it almost makes our heros seem like they are playing it extremely safe. That amazes me in itself! But if you were to set them all in competion with a 1974 routine, Olga and Nadia both would not faulter one iota. It was like they were magnetized to the balance beam, like they were attached to the bars as if they were a wind-up toy and lastly, like they 😮were cgi/AI perfect on the floor routines with no tiny balance baubles or anything! Dont get me wrong, Biles is the Queen supreme today with every modern thing she does! But, Olga and Nadia just seem to have perfected "perfection" in the world of gymnastics!
ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE--mDWF8Zl7FI.htmlsi=7rz5C6jtAn_N3xud You know I’m not really impressed with this. It’s boring, it’s the same old look where it’s not even interesting to watch. And I’m also not impressed because the floors have springs now. Nadia and Olga’s landings are perfection. Simone bounces off which people seem to ignore. Not a pretty landing.
if you put simone to the conditions back in the 70s she wouldn't make it in top 3. those girls had it rough back then, wooden beam, tough floor, not so special diets like these days, they can't be compared.
Both are awesome I remember watching them both. It's amazing how far the sport has come with so many fantastic athletes 👏 I have to say I don't think anyone will ever be more impressive than Simone that girl flies!!! ❤
