@@lucius1976 In most European countries, and in parliamentary democracies, the king or president is officially the Commander in Chief, but they are figureheads with no actual power. The PM or Minister of Defense is not the Commander in Chief in any country that I know of. They can dictate policies to the army indirectly, but don't control it outright. It's considered a 2nd tier ministry though, similar to education, healthcare and interior.

This video is misleading. for example the headline: "ISRAEL's new LEADER who wants to annex THE WEST BANK". Bibi said on a number on occasions, including during the couple of last election campaigns, that he wants to annex the west bank too, but from your headline you make it sound like Bennet is special by saying it. another thing that's not quiet right is what you said in 15:36. The coalition has control of 61 seats in the Kneset but Bibi doesn't control all the rest of the remaining 59 seats because 6 of those seats belong to The Joint List, an Arab party that Bibi once warned that their mostly Arab voters are "swarming to the polls", and so they don't really support Bibi. Another thing that you barley mentioned is why in spite of securing the largest share of votes Bibi could form a coalition. 6 of the 8 parties in the coalition were in the past in coalition with Bibi or a part of the Likud party itself, even after the police started investigating Bibi and after his trial started. If those party leaders didn't have a personal grudge against Bibi, or if anybody else headed the Likud, this coalition would have never happen. As long as Bibi is heading the opposition, this government have a fighting chance. Israeli politics is a hot mess. Which Palestinian territory? There’s so much confusion over the West Bank, understandably. Areas A and B are where Palestinians can build, but Area C is where Israelis can build *legally.” This is Oslo Accords 101, but it’s still easy for people to get confused. There really isn’t any legal Palestinian territory. It was Jordanian territory, and now it’s Israeli territory after the 6-Day War, but it was never under Palestinian control. The Palestinians see themselves as a people group distinct from other Arabs, but they’ve never had a nation state or control of the land, either before the Jewish state’s establishment or after. I hope they can keep out terror groups like Hamas and eventually grow into self government of their own state. But Israel cannot allow another Gaza.

This was very good, until it wasn't. For starters, there is no such thing as occupied Palestinian territory. The territory is simply disputed...nothing more, nothing less. Before Israel conquered it in 1967, it belonged to Jordan, which itself took it from?....no one. The Jordanians conquered it in the 1948 War. Before they absorbed it into their Hashemite Kingdom, it was controlled by Great Britain, which was given it as part of the Mandate following WW1. When the British pulled out of Palestine, the land had not been awarded to anyone, the Palestinians having rejected it as part of what was offered to them as a country within the framework of the UN suggested partition of the land. For a territory to be considered "occupied" (inferring "illegally), it had to conquered from the legitimate legal owner, concerning which, where was none as it relates to the so-called West Bank.
This video has accurate facts, although i couldn't disagree more with the interpretation and analysis of the situation. It's true that there was no Palestinian state there, however Palestinians are the native people of that lands, they have been living there during British and Turkish rule. Majority of Jewish people living in Israel now are from Europe and America they r not the native population there. So even if there was no "state of Palestine", that doesn't change the fact that they have been living there for centuries and its not fair that the British just told them to leave coz they wanna give the land to others without compensating them in anyway.

To Foyez, note that most Jews in Israel are actually refugees from middle eastern countries (many of them Arab like: Yemen, Algeria, Morocco, Egypt, Syria) who ran away due to the Arab stance against the Jews (due the establishment of Israel). For example, Ra'am is islamist but she can't promote islamism as an ideology because of the diversec coalition, so Ra'am promotes conservativism and arab-interests. Here are the ideologies of the parties in the government, you can see that they don't promote their whole ideology, but they focus on some ideas - Labor - social democracy, progressivism Meretz - social democracy, left wing populism, progressivism Yesh Atid - liberalism, welfare state mixed economy Blue&White - liberalism Ra'am - islamism, cultural right wing Yamina - right wing populism, conservatism, capitalist New hope - national liberal, capitalist Yisrael beitenu - russian speakers interests, capitalist
Addressing the elephant in the room is that peace in the middle East could be solved with a one state while devolving power to the Palestinian areas. It would stop the Palestinians at least living in blockade and abject poverty. Not a popular view I know but it is a solution....
A one state solution can't work with a true apartheid regime (which Israel is not), Israel MOST have a Jewish majority to keep the Jewish people safe, as it is the only Jewish state, a safe haven for a persecuted people.

I was quite disappointed in the analysis here. It contains quite a few inaccuracies. 1. Annexation- Bennett wanted to annex the West Bank but this is no longer on the table due to the peace deal with the UAE. 2. They fail to mention that Bennett plans on giving the Palestinians far greater autonomy than what they have now and wants to greatly improve their mobility and quality of life. This is known as “shrink the conflict.” 3. Bennett now, thanks to a defection, has six - not seven - seats 4. They portray Bennett’s modern orthodoxy as “more fundamentalist” than most Israelis. He is more religious, but not necessarily more fundamentalist. He is a very modern person. 5. The corruption charges were an issue, yes but it’s incorrect to say that they are the main reason Netanyahu lost. There are many other reasons ranging from coronavirus to instability that made voters dislike him. However, they fail to mention that the main reason he lost is due to bad personal relationships. Of the 8 parties, 6 have previously been in coalitions with Netanyahu and their relationships soured so much that they wanted to oust him. 6. His modern orthodox values wouldn’t necessarily oppose gay marriage as modern orthodoxy wants to take away power from the haredi establishment which has a monopoly over marriage. 7. While Mansour Abbas was called an “Islamist” the term is very vague. He would be considered to be among the religious right of Islam but he is very pragmatic. 8. Consistant with his “shrink the conflict” Bennett isn’t opposed to extra funding for Arab communities as the video suggests.
Lets not fool ourselves. The policy of Israel is an apartheid policy worse than white SA and the mentality of people is a racist one worse than Nazi Germany.
Just as Poland annexed parts of Germany after WW2, Israel survived being invaded by its Arab neighbors, and under International Law it won the territory in question. Winning a war of defense entitles that winner to territory that had previously belonged to the aggressor. This is common understanding in every part of the world except those countries dominated by Muslims. By the way, Jordan illegally occupied that territory, which was supposed to belong to the "Palestinians" from 1948 until the Six Day War. The so called "Palestinians" never complained about that occupation that was preventing them from having a homeland. That's because there is not, and never was, a Palestinian people, only Arabs.

Bennett wrote a book about it, "how to defeat a pandemic". His plan was mass testing (that was before vaccines), and local lockdowns, while letting rest of the economy and education run. To lock down only centers of infection. Netanyahu instituted wide lockdowns, while turning blind eye on ultra orthodox tourists coming from US and UK, which were major flashpoints at the time. People did not like this "my kids can't go to school so that american orthodox can pray at the kotel on rosh hashana". Bibi's goverment relies on ultra orthodox parties.
