Well, with continues north to south migration I don't think southern states will have any less populations. Afterall they are part of the same country and not different countries and it's only internal migration happening. When population at national level starts declining that may be some concern but India is at least 2 decades away from that point.
The north (except maybe UP and Bihar) must also learn and start correcting early. The fertility crisis isn't far away and India's fertility is being basically carried by Bihar already with the rest of India at or below replacement rates.
Please no Bihar, we need to socially engineer to improve the gene pool. If anything North should produce less, migrate and assimilate with other people to improve the gene pool.

I've written it elsewhere, I'm gonna write it here also. We're unnecessarily targetting the wrong goalpost. Loksabha is what it is, house of the people, it's bound to have proportional representation of people living in this country, wherever they are. That shouldn't be the concern at all. The target should & must be rajyasabha, how it's seats are distributed & are going to be distributed in future. The makers of the constitution definitely didn't want the states to be equal like that of the US. But that doesn't mean they wanted proportional representation in the rajyasabha also, otherwise it's just Loksabha 2.0, making it useless. We should be talking about in what better ways we can redistribute the rajyasabha seats, HDI vs National HDI or per-capita income vs National per capita income or Tax vs National Tax etc. are notable ways to do that. Otherwise it's just people of one state dehumanising others which is very very dangerous for National Unity!

Reduction in Loksabha seats is a punishment for successful implementation of population control programme. Less political power means, not having a say in the policies and resource distribution schemes of union govt. Already, south states are feeling this burnt

If the greying is already happening in the southern states, it is not impacting their economy, which is improving in leaps and bounds. So, this is not a catastrophe but rather a 30 year issue after which the bubble of old people will pass and societal balance is restored. This correction is absolutely required for long term stability.
I don’t buy this logic .. still we have more than 60% proportion of people in earning bracket and it will gradually decrease to 40- 50% and by that time we would have high gdp per capita that’s why it’s not a concern for alteast 5-6 more decades
Fun fact: Aadhar card coverage in India is around 95.5% (as of March 2024). Total Aadhar Card issued since 2010 is 139 Crore. Hence Maximum Possible population of India (considering no Aadhar card receiver has died in last 14 years) is at 145.5 Crore. Now UN estimates for India's population as of 2024 stand at 144 Crore. Considering that every year approximately 1 crore Indians have died (and that atleast 50% had Aadhar card) India's population will be much lower than UN's population estimates 😊
They say they want more babies, but won't provide healthcare and good education facilities for the kids, and childcare policies in corporate. In more advance cities, both parents are working long hours, which leads to even less time spent caring for a child, so people don't want to have more children, not to mention the skyrocketing costs of education.

Let Lokesh have three more children first, then the rest of us can consider it!
We have to fix equal number of seats in Parliament for every State irrespective of population by amending the Constitution otherwise less populated States become slave to more populated States. Their will will be imposed on less populated States which actually happening in India. Otherwise there will be chaos in future

This population/depopulation debate is futile for now in India. If anything, we should feel happy that population growth is drastically slowing down but still will grow for another 2-3 decades. These two CMs are only concerned about the political implications of declining populations of their respective states. There is no state or UT in India which can be called as very less populated.

Telangana is that of equal size to West Bengal. But the population of Telangana is not even half of that off West Bengal. However, the per capita income of a person in Telangana is more than double that of West Bengal.

26/36 States & UTs, Including Big ones like MH,GJ,KT,TN,AP etc will start losing people in next 15 years, As only 2 states(Bihar&UP) will account for 50% of New People born in the next 25 years
On the subject of delimitation, it is not the current fertility rate but the "extra effort" put in the last 30 years by the big north indian states that makes all the difference
Making too much of the population growth.. later he might also say that we should all be Muslims.. As the community grows richer, their population ceases to grow, as people realise making babies is not viable economically. Population growth is not the answer for economic growth.. the only answer is making our future generation able to contribute positively to the community. Many western countries are experiencing that the incentives to grow population only grows population in low socio-ecomomic strata which is draining on the countries' wealth overall!
Too much emphasis is laid on current figures of TFR and development level. We need to look at the trend. The declining TFR trend will also catch-up with UP and Bihar alongside development levels. Democratic representation is every citizen's right. Thus, delimitation becomes necessary. We also need an active workforce be it in South or North. In any case, the trend of smaller families is unlikely to reverse no matter what the incentive.

Rajya Sabha permission is taken only in case of amendments .. most of the decisions like money bills doesn’t require Rajya Sabha permission .. so be it Rajya Sabha or Lok Sabha .. American federal system is the oldest in the modern world so far and it’s good .. every state should have equal power .. like Manipur is being ignored for last one year just because it’s a small border state
