i have been professionally repairing power tools for more than 20 years 90% of the time on this particular nail gun the firing issue is caused by the trigger valve, the piston ring you replaced on the driver has nothing to do with the issue the gun was having, what i am politely trying to say is i just do not believe you are quite telling the truth here.

Yeah see, I thought that the piston ring was broken too until I got the replacement part in the mail and it is supposed to have a gap in it already. He's saying the old one was cracked but you can clearly see that the new one has the same gap in it. So obviously NOT the problem.

Gave me enough information to fix mine. Dewalt nailer looks EXACTLY the same. that ring that was bad on yours, was just not oily on mine so would not slide up and down. I too used some of the oil in the gun. Put it on the ring and it now slides easily. Never having opened one up before it now makes more sense. Thank you so much for this video.

Nice fix. I had a Rigid that had a similar problem, but it was leaking air out the exhaust port. I fixed that seal, but failed to realize that some of the others were toast as well. I bought a new Hitachi and ended up giving my neighbor the old one to fix and keep. I guess the heat and time all take their toll on those plastic/rubber seals.

Yes, most problems with nail guns are due to o-rings and bad seals. If you can get the tools second hand and do the work yourself you can save quite a few bucks. The older guns were made with much less plastic.

i took apart my BN200 for the first time because the plunger wouldn't retract. But instead of finding a piston ring, mine had an "O" ring with out a piston ring gap and was a typical rubber type O ring. The replacement part was the exact same "O" Ring, not a piston ring. The old O ring appeared to be in good shape, but I replaced it anyway. My problem seems to be the nylon ring in the head not being installed correctly. Now, I will try to get that part.. What gives here?

The author of this video has provided some bad information in regards to Porter Cable brad nailers. Porter Cable BN200B and BN200C nail guns are OIL-LESS. DO NOT put oil in them as it will plug the trigger head valve preventing the trigger from resetting. How do I know this? I oiled mine not knowing any better, but looking at the owners manual, It clearly states - "NOTE: These nailers are designed to be used without oil." I had to pull my trigger head valve out; blew compressed air through it to clean out it real good. Fixed my trigger problem. Hope this helps others.

My framing hammer says oil daily, I don’t see “oil daily” on my trim nailer’s. Perhaps I should not have been oiling them all this time. And I do it religiously. LOL My friend has a trim nailer that says do not oil. So I figured since mine didn’t say that I would oil it.

Lol a couple years ago, my 3.25" nail gun jammed, and i was in a hurry (famous last words) and instead of unhooking the air and clearing it safely, i tried just pulling back the nose and firing it to clear the nail lol the nail, being jammed the way it was, came out of the bottom of the barrel instead of the front and went through my index finger hahaha it was in there with half sticking out each side of my finger luckily missing the bones and knuckles! It wasnt fun, but i deserved it... always unhook the air before clearing a jam!
