Love these videos. I’ve been following the choppers since I was a kid. I had a movie with them and Ian Roussell and Keith Weesner And a bunch of people. Super cool that you’re making videos now and we get to see the old cars.
Definitely More Hot Rod stuff. I currently own an old mustang and I wanna get into the Hot Rod scene. Thats how I found you over a year ago when you had 2k subs. Heading to TROG this weekend. Keep up the great work. 👍🏽
Yo Big Ben ! I gotta say ...as a Dad to a couple teenage knuckleheads ...and also being a car guy .... YOU are a lucky S.O.B. to be able to share this hot rod car culture with Pops !!! PRICELESS DUDE !!! ...o by the way ... your videography is crazy top notch !!!! Fueling up that 32 ,,,got me thirsty 🍺⛽ !! ROCK on BRO ! Tarantino 's waiting !!!
That's my dream car! Man I'd love to have a 32. I have a 35 5 window coupe that my dad has owned since 1980, when he passed i inherited it, and someday I'll have enough time and money to build it! For now I have a 68 F100 on the road to take to shows though :)
Sorry to here about you pops passing. Same story here my dad handed down his 34 to me. Was stored for 20+ years. Never preped for that. Wasted no time getting it back on the road every spare min. I got goes to her. Dad was a member of the local street rods. I used to go to meets with him . The club was in a parade once it was on my birthday . It was so cool I was 8 years old . Ever since then I wanted a Hot Rod. Thanks Dad I think you would be proud of how I have her looking on a poor man's budget.
0:44 OMG I remember the "Bad News" chopper from the Discovery show "Rides" years ago, can't believe all this time it was your dads !! That episode inspired me very much to start to work on cars when I was young!! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-AznfZZj29kU.html
Hey Ben...being someone who saw the original Rides show, I really enjoyed this...and it was great to see Bad News again. Your camera work is terrific. All the best to you.
Cool '32. I remember seeing all of the Shifters Hot Rods back in the old days, arriving at all of the car shows. It really made a huge impact on me. Great video
Love these ‘32 and ‘34 Ford’s!! I did exactly episode with one you can check it out! You have cool dad!👏 it’s nice that he put the Hot Rodder seed in you !!! 👏👏well done!!!
Yes!! Love your dad’s cars! I was involved with “the over the hill gang” in San Bernardino in early 70’s. One of the first 20 members and first club branch, Pomona, 4 members. Life happens and put 36 Chevy delivery in my garage. Now 50 years later building a new car. Trying to locate a nailhead! Really hard to find one. Know one for sale?? Get more videos on putting 32 and nailhead on road! I’d love to see that thanks
G'day from West Australia, 😉 Get out the elbow grease, do the work and drive it. Have fun on the journey, then enjoy the journey down the road guy's.🙂👍👍
All my Dad taught me about wrenching is how to hold a flashlight and get yelled at... now that I’m older, I just finished rebuild an Olds 324 rocket and Her Jetaway... Thanx Dad.
Kool 5 window Aaron and Ben! I assumed it was on the road this whole time! 322 with chrome goodies. I dig it! I'm putting a 322 in Johnny and Joe Zupan's '50 Ford panel truck work truck that they drove when they weren't driving the Bettancourt/Zupan Merc! Looking for some chrome goodies for a 322 myself!
Just curious. What size is the nailhead? Has it been modded much? Looks like an aftermarket exhaust manifold/header. My dad had an old 58 Buick Century with the 364. He loved that car.
Get it fixed up! Don't let the good old days die. It's coming back in your/my kids generation. My kids about the same age. We just fired up the T-Bucket!
You dont know how lucky you are that you have a dad that’s into hot rods. My dad hates cars, it would have been so cool to have someone to wrench with and be mentored by as a younger guy. All my teenage wrenching days at home were spent alone.
My aunt has a 32 Ford in her shop..my uncle bought it about over 25 years ago.he died 2 years ago..I've been tryen to get it from her since then..farmer..she cant walk and still won't sell it.
Misnomer, you are mistaken to believe this is a '32 Ford. Possibly the body and frame are for real, but that engine is at least a '50s technology. What it is is a hot rod, a hybrid of many technologies from different time periods. This one could possibly be finished and be a real standout, but there is a lot of work to be done before that occurs. If that is your intentions, good luck; I'll be waiting in the wings for the view.
I've got a soft spot for the Buick Nailhead engines. I got my 1st car in 1982 when I was 15 years old, it was a nice green 1966 Buick Wildcat sedan and it had the 401 nailhead engine and 3 speed automatic transmission. My dad had bought that Buick brand new and a few years after he owned it he sold it to a 'friend' on payments who crashed it in the 1st week he owned it and after that he just parked it on his farm and never paid dad another payment on it. So in 1982 my dad decided it was time to go take the car back... We used dad's welding truck, it had gin poles on it and it all happened quick, dad asked him if he intended on paying for the car, the guy said no so we hooked it up and towed it home. It took me about 1/2 an hour to get her running and wow that car had a lot of power! The crash damage was that the guy hit a tree and it needed a whole front end but it could still drive. I was a kid and when dad wasn't home I'd sneak the car out and play around on the back roads like the Duke boys haha! When I was 16 I ended up taking the body off the chassis and mounting a 36 Chevy truck cab to the Buick chassis and wow with barely any weight I was the fastest thing around! Those nailhead engines are a powerful and reliable engine and to this day I won't turn one away.
How lucky you are to live where it all started and so close to Leno’s I didn’t realize who Robert Williams was until I watched a video on here I got a poster hanging in my garage the one where cars are flipping over with a cop car chasing them, I was lucky enough to meet Butch Patrick and get get my picture taken with him
When that nailhead is happy there should be no lifter noise at all. I just sucked a valve and blew a piston, necessitating the rebuild. Did I have lifter noise before the engine grenaded. Yup!
I know how it is getting distracted away from the Car life, my car has been sitting since 2014 I have to drain the tank for new gas and might as well drain the oil to. I need to fix my steering I want to make it power steering power breaks and a new gas tank with gages and I think she will make it to Miami and back to Northen California bay area. She will be a driver m
I LOVE nailhead powered hot rods. I have a '56 Buick restored, with a completely rebuilt 322 V8 (nailhead of course). Even in that big boat it gets down the road.
Your battery is too flat/discharged for the charger's circuitry to kick in. You'll need to connect a charged battery in parallel to the flat battery, then hook up your charger to either battery and charge. them in this manner.
It is really great to see a real deal late '50s to early '60s street rod so well preserved. The nailhead really sets it off. I hope you get it street safe but dont mess with it otherwise. I'm building a '41 Ford p/u trying to capture that era but will never hit the mark like that duece!
When someone asks me Wen was America Great , I always say When we were driving Hot Rods with our girl sitting by our side , Listening to good music , Drag racing & Dancing !!
That Olds generator is identical to the Buick unit. I don't think a generator cares which way it rotates, but the stock nailhead has the generator mounted on the passenger side front of the engine.
Should have checked the voltage of the battery before trying all that stuff. Check the circuit for a parasitic load to save the new battery you put in there.
AMAZING ... A CAR DREAM .... IS IT A 5 WINDOWS? IN SPAIN IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO APPROVE A HOT ROD ..... FOR ME, A SMALLER AND LOW RADIATOR .... SOME BIGGER AND LOWER HEADLIGHTS ...... THAT WOULD BE MY DREAM.... ITS A DEUCE??
I hate those nylon oil pressure lines i went to stainless braided line so I don't have to worry of hot oil all over the place the line is kind of expensive but it's one of those thing you never have to worry about anymore
Awesome keep up the videos! Keep both you and your dad motivated on them, it something that you two will both never forgot and will grow the history and story of the those cars
