The problem is, once you fall in love, it's really hard to kill them, or eat them. I had a predator get in and kill a couple, and I'm sure the meat was fine, but we buried them. I couldn't imagine eating a friend, or giving her body to someone else to eat. The eggs are another story though. Organic, free range seem to be the best, and since my livelihood doesn't depend on their meat, I'm happy to just collect the eggs.

I second that! Absolutely horrible what animals raised for domestic use endure, inc. chickens. Reprehensibly cruel treatment for the sake of profit. I no longer eat meat.

The uncaged ones also experience this. In *cage free facilities*, they are still packed in one on top of the other, still suffocated with the stench of ammonia, still genetically modified to grow so fast their legs cannot support their own body weight...

@@Itsunclegabby Very true - cage free facilities are horrors!! Workers comb through the crowded aisles, pulling out dead chickens every day! The chickens never see the sun or have grass under their feet. This knowledge leg me to having pet chickens for eggs. Happy chickens = happy, healthy eggs!

I could not agree more. The way we treat caged hens is nothing short of repulsive. Real change is needed urgently. There’ll be a price to pay for what we do to Gods creatures.

Its forbidden in Denmark to hold hens caged. Lets hope it spreads !

I've been called chicken maniac as I just can't get people's lack of empathy towards chickens while being so kind to dogs and cats. I hope some centuries in the future we'll no longer have to kill to eat.

I’m also rlly in love with chickens :) I go to mine every single day I haven’t missed one day and since they were born I’ve been visiting them

Yes, I have to agree. About 20 years ago, I had the opportunity to get some chickens. The only problem was that I couldn't go and get some of those poor birds. I mean I could but didn't have the stomach to see them in such a dreadful state. I wish I had, but I just couldn't walk into that shed and see them all squished up in those tiny cages. Instead I went to a farm where they had hundreds of young birds ready to take home. I took six. Chickens aren't as dumb as people think, I would sit with them every day and they got to know and trust me, they started eating out of my hand and would follow me around as I cleaned their shed every morning. They got to know the cats and dog (who were all scared of them). Chickens are by nature very inquisitive birds and they learn things very easily. Like the chicken in the video cuddling up to the lady, they love contact. As I said my only regret was not saving some poor abused souls 💔 😔 if I could do it again, I would, but I can't where I live now. So I wish this lovely lady all the best as she can do what I couldn't.

@Stagger Lee I gradually gave up meat from when I was 12 til my early 20's (30 years ago.) Chicken was the hardest for me to give up, but nowadays they have such yummy vegetarian and vegan substitutes. My favorite is Morningstar Farms, especially the buffalo chicken. Quorn is good too. I use Gardein veggie chicken strips to make chicken soup. **chef kiss** good stuff.

I dunno, seeing videos like this just kinda further makes me loose faith in humanity. Because for every lucky Fleur, there's billions of chickens/animals who aren't so lucky. It's such a tiny (tiny) fraction of humanity who actually want to stop creating more Fleurs. The vast majority of people who watch this channel have paid for corporations to treat animals like Fleur. To say nothing of the countless comments on these videos of people saying "who cares chicken's delicious". The majority of humanity will never care about how they make animals suffer.

I work at a farm sanctuary , and i take care of the chickens, ducks geese, and what people do to them is unspeakable, they are the sweetest birds on the planet

they really are as lovable and personable as any cat, dog, etc. I have many of mine snuggle with me, in fact I just got finished tucking my birds to bed (closing up the coop for the night) and several wanted cuddles- all lined up and waiting to be pet. If I pet one, the other will get jealous. They are delightful! Just yesterday had a baby hen fly up to my shoulder and get under my chin to be held. She was scared of something and wanted to feel safe with me.

So true. You can opt out of such cruelty by going plant-based, which is the healthiest for us anyways, based on numerous studies. It's also best for the planet.

If we don't kill domestic animals they'll keep multiplying and start creating overpopulation, which will make both them and us suffer. The real way to go cruelty free is to buy meat from animals that have lived a happy life and have been killed humanely

@@SwizzleDrizzl it is an option, I keep many animals so I know how hard (and expensive) it can be. many people where I live have unused gardens, eggs could be sold to offset feeding/cleaning costs etc
