I have no connection to the Toxic Crusaders IP, but man those toys are cool. The colours of them all standing together sums up the early 90s. Those were the colours of my childhood. Great video, thank you man
colourful, original sculpt, scales with tmnt, under black light they’re cool too. I have the entire line . Missing accessories for Bonehead, NoZone, Major disaster and the radiation ranger. I army build the ranger because they look awesome on display with a team of dudes left and right of Dr Killemoff. Theo, you are totally right, the cost of all the original tools, different forms of moulding and add to that the paint apps. The amount of variance in paint apps across JUST Headbanger can be a real PITA if you’re a completist of ALL forms. other awesome one shot lines; Skeleton warriors and Earthworm Jim, both Playmates toys. both with wicked sculpts
I remember watching the show when I was a kid. Had a few figures growing up and just recently started buying the figures again. Have no of the original line, but have picked up a couple of the Super 7 remakes. Looking forward to get these again
Really cool collection, I have never seen a single toxic crusaders in real life, I do wonder if they weren't release in latinoamerica or maybe they are just that rare
_Toxic Crusaders_ is so well designed that it actually annoys me. 😆 I didn't grow up with these, but the whole line is like a high watermark for Playmates, because every one of these hits the mark for all categories: Sculpts, paint, accessories, articulation (for the time) and just the pure play value. I especially like when tie-in toy lines have the freedom to sort of be their own thing and have some unique personality. Lots of that around that era of the late '80s/early'90s. Top notch stuff! Great presentation as usual. 😁 Actually, a quick question: What is the most *confusing* accessory you've ever seen come with a toy?
Killer video bro!! Im only two figures away from having the full run of figures. Toy Tuesday is always one of my favorites you do. I dont know if you've ever done earthworm jim, but that's a line id love to see you cover!
I'm always down for some Toxic Crusaders talk. You know I'm pretty sure Junk Yards bat is supposed to be a rolled up news paper. Again, just adding to that awesome visual story telling of the figure!
I've never seen the show, I don't collect or have any personal attachment to this toyline, I've never even seen them IRL but you can't deny the craftsmanship of them. The attention to detail, the colours and the strangeness just make them pop!
Totally agree here, for me the best single run line ever, and one of the best toy lines ever. Such an iconic look. Enjoyed the video, well put together theo.
Such a good episode man! I'd love some more in depth breakdowns like this of specific lines from your collection. It'd be like the new era Slimehouse in the pro gaff calling back to the OG Slimehouse inspiration lines😂👍
Just recently found this channel, remember u from dont flop one of my faves, im a big warhammer fan too love that content. These toy vids got me climbing into my loft seeing what i can find from my childhood.
How strange I recently put some of these in my watch list lol. I do love the neon colours & I'm a sucker for glow in the dark. Love that Horn figure too. Great vid as always
Great video pal and thanks for answering my question, nice to see how much they inspired your toy design. The point about there not being ‘one miss’ is spot on and can’t be said for most lines. Not sure if you saw, but the Series 2 USA Toxie proto from Vayner just came up for sale, Pixel Dan snagged it for $2k! Look forward to the next Toy Talk instalment.
Totally agree with the toxic crusaders bro, they are fire🔥 Skeleton warriors are my gem, such a cool one off set And still relatively cheap to get a full set I got a complete and boxed set of the whole line for £100 a few years ago They display great next to my mighty max, which is my most treasured full set, great vid P.s toxic crusader was my last POP, gotta check him 😂
Toxic Crusaders is hands down the coolest toy line. The cartoon holds up extremely well too. Very funny fourth wall breaking comedy. The designs and colors of these figures are beautiful I recently started collecting the line myself and is my favorite toy line I have ever collected.
I remember wanting the Toxic Avenger figures when I was young and may have owned one or two (I remember the texture of the tubes for some reason), but I was way into Star Wars and video games so they weren't my ideal line, but the close-up shots of all the bright colors does bring back loads of memories of being in the toy aisle at places like K-Mart and just being bombarded with bright, neon colors from every direction. Nice bit of nostalgia there. On the note about missing your glow in the dark piece; I can't help myself, but to ask; have you tried turning off the lights and going through the bins and see if it stands out? ... 😁 ... Hope you get a replacement soon though! Thanks for the great video!
I remember the TV cartoon being on children's television and then seeing a vhs for the live action film in Virgin Megastore and couldnt believe it had an 18 certificate.
i got a couple discounted in kings lynn, the other side of the wash to skeggness, i was very pleased as i loved the tv show at the time. love the collection!
Great line, for sure, but it's difficult to put them above a lot of 80s lines. The good thing about Playmates was that they made their lines in the same scale. So the Toxic Crusaders could team up with the Ninja Turtles, or Dick Tracy.
So weird, I’m from Rotherham and I got my toxic crusaders from Skegness 😂 I even remember the shop we got them from.. weirdly they had everyone but Toxie, so I had to get him from a backstreet shop in Doncaster 🤷🏻♂️
I’ve got the full set of the hologram trading cards they made. Back when I still smoked weed, I used to zone out looking at the crazy holographic colours. I realise now it wasn’t the best use of my time 🤣
It all depends on what era you grew up & what the toys meant to you personally. I would argue that many toy lines were better than this in the 80s & early 90s, plus they were more affordable to kids pocket money, even considering inflation, from Star Wars, he man, transformers, mask, micro machines….and many more But that won’t mirror someone’s opinion who grew up a bit later These do look cool & I’m sure if I was younger I’d want them
Representation of gender in toy making. Gender fluidity being such a topic these days it is interesting the extreme contrast between the very sweet and nice and the hideously mutated and violent in toys. What do toys say about being human by not being human? I would be interested to know what you think?
do you have any affinity for the playmates Earthworm Jim line? That and Toxic Crusaders nearly eclipsed the vintage TMNT line in my book. Shame they both got cut so soon.
love this line, i hope trick or treat studios is able to dig deep with some of those rereleases. imagine if they got the dick tracy toxic crusaders cars made!
I really understand the appeal of the toxic crusade. With all the parts and work that would have been put into them.... But I really don't like the vibe 😂 don't know why. Normally, that's exactly my type.... but no
