Nancy Brophy is accused of shooting and killing her husband in June 2018. Her step-son is expected to take the stand today for the state. Nathaniel Stillwater sued Nancy Brophy in 2019 in civil court for the wrongful death of his father.
I never realized how concerned the judge was with everybody's hydration when I followed this case in real time. I'm rewatching all the vids & just noticed how hard My Dude pushes that water. 😂
God this Defence lawyer not only is pathetic on Law but is now trying to show her lack of knowledge of Insurance policies. She is so boring. It’s awful that she has no conception of defending. This poor Insurance salesman is getting a rough ride. 🤪🤷♀️
Female prosecutor is very smart, asks good questions, but has a bad habit of starting every question with “Umm”. I would think a colleague would have pointed this out only to make her more polished? It is an easy habit to break. But she is impressive and skilled.
Umm...I had a friend tell me before she got her bench seat that Supreme Court justice, Ketanji Brown Jackson shouldn't be sworn in because she said umm too many times.
@@tourdedogue4952 Weird where the bar is set. I wish that was the only issue with literally every other elected official, ever. I'm "sure" THAT was the problem they actually had with her.
..she WOKE up at around 6:50 am…. it took her 4.5 years to convince D.Brophy to marry her (married sometime prior to murder after ~26 years of cohabiting)…she did not want a gun but bought one or two just before…..she did not kill anyone but wrote a short essay “how to kill your husband”…. here is a character
The insurance guy did an admirable job, considering such short notice, and he’d never been an expert witness before. I think the attorneys went for the weeds and a lot of the questions were unnecessary, but the defense is expected to bring insurance experts, so prosecution is getting ahead of the wave.
Some of the “weeds” is explaining his report which is a recap of hundreds of pages of documents from insurance companies or legales. The defense is not asking, and has not asked, questions that are direct and supportive of their case. They are unfocused like they started on this case yesterday like Mr Santos!
The insurance guy is very analytical (too analytical?) however, the line of questioning could be better. What he would advise a client and what a person would actually do are two different things and it does not prove premeditation. It could just be stupidity.
It would be waaaaaay too stupid! Nancy was a life insurance agent. Plus, they couldn’t afford the policies, but she kept them up. So, deliberate and calculating.
If they spent less money on 'insuranace policies' maybe they could have afforded to keep paying for their mortgage. They were both horrible with money. And she was a lousy insurance agent.
Excellent observation! So many corporate policies like mortgages or insurance are pooled together and sold in bundles. I found the testimony spot on and fascinating of this agent.
No kidding. He laid out a board of Charcuterie and the friend said the word perfectly. I don't even know how to say it. She smile when she said the entire table was a variety of foods. I keep thinking of that about him.
@Potr64: Great comment, and I wonder if all these wonderful memories are stakes driven through the heart of Nancy Brophy, as she listens to them KNOWING that she killed him.
Question - He is a witness for the state. Might I add he’s very brilliant and analytical. That could be good or bad. However, He was given the insurance policies very late and he analyzed them. He is not getting paid. What is the purpose of him wanting to testify in this trial.?
Shorter questions, shorter answers, leading to a longer conclusion- not made best of him because he knows his stuff. The jury will just be confused by this. Yes or no will do. Why don’t the lawyers say answer yes or no ! Giving far too much information. I’m confused as to the point they’re trying to make and I understand this stuff. Really poor performance by the prosecution lawyer in my view.
2:39:11 😅😂😅 I freaking love Dan😊 Wow, I know darn well that Dan named those dog's 😊 P B and J😂😅😂 The state attorney had to stop herself from stating the obvious 🙂 Hard to find people like Dan in this world. The names of the dog's tells me that Dan Brophy really was as amazing as everyone has claimed him to be😔 Rest In Heavenly Peace Dan🙏🏽 You will never be forgotten 💙🤍🙏🏽
Not that you could say it, though the first romance clubby, would paint 🎨 her as.... I will do anything for author exposure, I am sure her attorney/publisher talked her into it “oh go....you have nothing to lose” 🤣😂🤣
The one with the long red hair….she’s quite a personality. I love her facial expression when she snaps out, “Correct!” The other writer was very annoyed at having to testify. She exchanged smilies with Nancy on her way out.
I keep watching Nancy with her head being supported by her hand on one side. Staring at each witness. So, I read this: "Leaning heads show -they can't even be bothered to hold their head up. Usually, it begins with the chin supported by the thumb."
I figured out why the defense is so salty with insurance guy. He makes Nancy look incompetent and we can't have that! I'm so thankful i live in Finland and don't have to think about life insurance, it's so complicated!
@@PinkyakaAyannaj I honestly don't know. But I have never heard of anyone having life insurance and no one has tried selling me any. Most common elective insurance is travel, home and animal insurance. Car insurance is a must for drivers. Everyone with a Finnish citizenship has automatic health insurance (comes with paying taxes, I think it's part of our constitution or something). But yeah....I've never heard of anyone taking life insurance and then wait for someone to die and then becoming a millionaire......I just.... don't see the point. Everyone dies at some point. To me, life insurance sounds like the biggest scam ever tbh.
defendant lied , 'cause she said she ws home all MORNING 6/2/2018, today last WITNESS testified she drove around 7:20 ---- 7:50am LIER ! , that is when the murder took place, besides her car was seen parked on OCI
See this is the problem her car wasnt seen at OCI and there is no evidence she was there. They have no registration number of the vehicle seen around the block. The only way they identified the car was a scratch on the rear passenger side. The evidence is circumstantial at best. A car like hers and a faulty gun with missing slide. I havent heard anything over the past 8 days that has swayed me.
@@sandranash3944 You’re wrong. You must’ve missed the testimony of the officer who gathered all the video. He used tri-met's video and was able to get the first three numbers and one of the letters and tell that the other two letters were either d or q, and k or x. Then they went and found every single van of that type in Oregon with the first three numbers and the letter he could see for sure. Oregon dmv doesn’t keep record of car color so they had to find every single van. They called to every law enforcement jurisdiction these vans were located in and had them locate them to find the color. If I remember correctly there were only TWO vans that were the right color (grey) within those parameters of the license plate. One being mrs Brophy and the other being no where near Portland at the time of the murder. So you are actually completely wrong. I encourage you to find the officers testimony and listen yourself if you doubt what I’m saying. Here I went and found it for you - Day 6 afternoon session. His testimony starts about an hour 37 minutes in.
Listening to this rather charming yet obviously well.informed as to his profession , gentleman, ot becomes ever more apparent that our Nancy was as capable .in her career.in discovering the most expedient coverage for them.as in her writing ! In actuality incapable bit quite content to.shske her head & explain ' I am.not ,a saver , well we were not savers . AM.inxreasingly unsure about this it seems more that she managed to.pull.that untidy rather ' wooly ' .hair.over many eyes.
She was spending more money than they were bringing in and she eventually decided to off her husband because she would collect over one million dollars with all the insurance policies she had on him.
Slam dunk. hunted her good husband like lion hunt baby cape buffalo. Cannot believe her first friends' attitude like she's pissed the prosecution and police are doing their job.
Maxfield.s hair is off the chain! I wonder if attorneys come back and read our comments based on these trials. It would be beneficial to them. Not about the hair thing, but about what they could learn about how we think.
Both women lawyers se.inappropriate as trial lawyers & while one assumes Nancy us probably.Being represented at tax payer expense one would like the state's side.to.be professionally comoetant ! AN beginning to assume that your E O laws mean lowest common denominator rather than ability . At least the judge appears to be saving their skins buntephrading for them etc. However . as law is one of my diverse interests .& have read , watched & studied it.have iver the past 2 years watching .court documentaries been shicked by several.high profile cases bias etc. as well as being much impressed by others .There seems to be an envious discrepancy even in the same state
Uhhh yes I thought so too., but whatever. If she's gay, I have no objection. I know some awesome gay people including my hairdresser. She's supposedly very well known to the community as far as being a great attorney. I wonder if she's doing this pro bono.
