Today we look at the return pump upgrade I'm doing on the new nano reef tank. The Waterbox 20 gallon cube comes with a good pump, but I upgrade it with a Jebao 1200 DCS return pump.
Thank you so much for this, after watching this clip I replaced the stock pump that came with the waterbox20 with this exact one, works so much better, thank you!!!
How is the DCS-1200 pump going as it's been over 1.5 years since you did the video? I have a Waterbox Peninsular Mini 25 and installed a 1.0 SiCCA pump that has a high flow but very noisy and because of the high flow any restrictions from the sock or middle chamber can run the pump dry. Looking at changing it the DCS-1200 what are your thoughts?
What i've done with my Waterbox pump is to let it float slightly above the bottom. It is way more quiet than on it's rubber feet ánd you can take it out in a second if you want. Simply cut an inch of the hose and then the pump flows a little above the bottom. It hangs on the hose. To avoid that it touches a sidewall and becomes noisy i glued a piece of tank underlay mat under the rubber feet slightly bigger than the pump circumference. The pump cant touch a sidewall anymore.
Nice upgrade. I wish you did this with a tank with two return nozzles. Finding a Y adapter to attach one pump was a headache for me. I got it tho but I had to do this ugly a$$ diy cutting of hoses to attach one pump to the right size nozzle and Y adapter. See? It's even hard to explain exactly what I did.
You head pressure is more like 4inchs. Head pressure starts at the water level of the return chamber. Lower the water more head pressure, higher the water less head pressure. But great little pump love jabeo equipment.
Hey mate, I have a watebox 20 with a sicce silent 1.0 that creates a lot of vibration noise. How do you rate the noise with the jebao on this tank? Thanks
