I cut mine down very carefully with a Bench Grinder. Worked Great, you just got to do it slowly and carefully.

I know this is a dumb question, but in my opinion I've never seen or used this, but what exactly does that do? Like does it save music? What's the difference between a nano and micro?

Does the new nanosim have the same thickness as the older sims? It looks like the newer one is much thinner on the video.

If I had a standard sized sim card that had not run out could I get tmobile (who Is who I'm with) to convert my standard sim card to a nano sim card ?

It all depends on the carriers SIM card. I have a bell micro sim and you can easily cut down the SIM card to fit in as a nano sim. The metal contacts don't take up the entire micro sim only a section of it that is the exact size of a nano sim.

NanoSIM cards are now a new format approved for every other phone manufacture, it's just Apple that pushed for it to be the standard. It will be the standard going forward so expect others to adopt it as well :)

The carriers love Apple for doing this, especially Vodafone who are charging extra for Face Time. They'll know exactly whose using an iPhone because they have to use this Sim and people can't use an old sim and data plan to get round the charge.

Actually, it is thinner . (maybe not on all operators, but i have seen a nano-sim that was 0.09mm thinner) Anyway, the iPhone 5 accepts nano sim cards that are as thick as the micro/mini sim cards too, so there should be no problem :)

you have an old format micro sim card with big contact,the new one has the same size contact with the nanomsim and it can be can to nano sim size so wrong info here.

omg I phoned vodafone yesterday to getva nano sim and they said they didnt ave them yet! They said call back very soon, some of these agents havent got a clue sometimes

Easiest way is to order a free multisim from a carrier and use that.

Sorry Dave but this isn't correct, It is only for Vodafone customers as they have never updated there normal and micro sims to the newer thinner metal contacts on the sim card. Other networks have used the smaller sim for about 6 or more months now so it will be possible to cut them down if possible.

You quoted £700, that is the top end version, be realistic most people buy the 16gb version. have i ? nope but I am not most people ;)

why is no one giving apple heat about this whole nano sim card thingy? Its bad enough that they use a proprietary connector/charger on their phone whne the whole world knows micro usb is just ffine. Then they are doing this with the sim card (again) and no one is saying anything? What? They are trying to save space in the phone? There are slimmer phones that has a bigger battery, bigger sim, nfc, and micro sd and even a separate space for micro hdmi. So whats the point exactly?

Hang on a minute, you get a new sim when you upgrade so this wont be a problem? Although why anyone would want an Iphone 5 is beyond comprehension (they should have called it the Iphone 4gs)

nanoSIMs aren't anything unique that Apple has made. Just like ordinary SIMs and microSIMs, they're a norm. But you're right. microSIMs haven't been out long and Apple is already utilizing a nanoSIM. Slimmer phones do exist with better expandability but remember that this is Apple, not Android. ;)

Nano SIM is a standard, just like normal SIM, it is not proprietary.

soon enought they'll be working at a molecular level then robots will have to build the sim in because it'll be to small for us to pick up then when you want a new sim you have to pay for it to be removed and replaced the world of tele-comuntication is going to shit and its all apples fault

Wow !! Apple amazes me every single time !! They talk about ease of use then why the hell do they come up with crap like the nano sim ?, just to make lives of ordinary customers miserable ? New iPhone new headaches, I had to run from pillar to post with my iPhone 4 for the micro-sim, because my telecom provider didn't have stock of the micro sim. With nano sim all I can do is stare at the iPhone which doesn't function as a phone !!
