I love the way you flood the lake with lures when you troll out such a small boat. I do the same.

Do you do guides? My family visits every year and this is year 9 or 10. Never been able to fish well here. Also would be happy to fill up your tank and enjoy a day on the water

They sure are...give them a try and put a little scent on them too...shhh, that is one of my secrets.

I was just at Lake Nantahala, and the dam structure shown in your video is definitely some lake other than Lake Nantahala. Although you do not say it was at Lake Nantahala, I had presumed it would be. I would be interested in knowing what lake you were actually fishing!

The lure I was using was a Nantahala Nailer spoon...the lake I was fishing was Parksville.

great rainbow. I was thinking of coming up to try catch a kokanee salmon this fall and try some trolling as well, do the salmon stay in the lake year round? Maybe the end of October would be a good time?

There are no trout in the lakes I fish around here. Are there Kokanee in NC?

My bad I seen the word Nantahala and just assumed you were fishing lake Nantahala in North Caroline which does have Kokanee and trout I just found out. Still doing research to see If I would have a chance to catch my first Kokanee this fall. Not sure how many the lake has or how many they stock per year.

I just got a e-mail from the fisheries biologist which told me they haven't stock Kokanee since the 60's in the lake so they have only been naturally reproducing since then and he informed me that its really hard to catch one and not worth the cost of a trip to catch try.

Thanks for the info...I would think stocking them would have a big fishing impact and lots of interest. @@Carperama

Do you have any videos on all the gear and setups you use? I'm just getting into trolling and would love to see what all you use and any tips and tricks you could share.

thank you! Are down riggers absolutely necessary? I'm going to lake blue ridge this Friday and trying to get everything I need to be successful. It seems like a lot of the fish you catch are on the down riggers and this is one of the items i haven't purchased or had experience using.
@TheFishingEducator

They are not necessary, but I love them. If you buy them, get them used on ebay. Mine are from the 1970's and have never failed me. The more rods you add, the better presentation! When I am trolling I have 12 lures moving through the water at different depths...in clear water this draws a lot of attention from the fish below. Give them a big offering. How big is your boat?

I have a 16 ft aluminum g3 bass / jon boat. I just installed a fish finder (Hummingbird Helix 5 di ) purchased a few umbrella rigs, with spoons and other lures for trolling. I also ordered 2 of the slide divers like in one of your videos. The only things i don't have are a line counter, dow rigger or plainer boards. I was going to try to have at least 4 rods going with two of them using umbrella rigs. Is there anything you think I should look into getting and are there any areas of the lake you would recommend?
@TheFishingEducator
@TheFishingEducator 7 лет назад
On Blue Ridge...focus on the main lake by the dam...the fish will be deep this time of year...30-55ft down. Walleye will be at the 55ft. mark..Spoons are good...what kind of umbrella rig you using?
