Don, you did a great job unearthing the less-known properties for folks who appreciate experiences away from mainstream... look forward to more such reviews. Maybe do a Yosemite one soon?
Fabulous video! Much appreciated and I hope to see you back in my gorgeous BC and in California where I travel often to see friends!! They are all based in SF and Mill Valley so traveling to places like Napa and Sonoma is so much fun!! I am going to be at Meritage fairly soon! Cheers! 🙂
Thanks for the kind comment.... I want to go back to that area and update the hotels b/c so many new ones have popped up.... on my ever growing to do list
Hi - I visited the Auberge du Soleil - it seemed dated and overpriced. I don't normally review 4 Seasons b/c you know what you're gonna get there. Good luck
Dr Wilkinson's is in Calistoga - part of Napa... I tried 2 other hotels in Napa but decided not to recommend them b/c they were overpriced and disappointing. I find Napa to be be too touristy and am trying to help people find more authentic experiences and memorable places to stay. I think anyone who wanted to experince Napa could stay in most of the hotels on this list
There is no town of Guernesville in California, so people who go looking for it on Google may or may not find it. It's Guerneville (pronounced more or less Gurney-vlile - if you get lost you might want to know how to pronounce it). Some say Gurn-ivel.
