I have found that my special needs brother who’s IQ is that of a young child has incredible insight into the blind spots of the narcissistic members of our family. Yet they dismiss him. At the same time they are angry at him because he has no filter and lays their truths at their feet. They resent that someone of “low” intelligence would have the audacity to know them better than they know themselves.

Artists self supply. I am an artist. Unless you are the rare exception, and I have yet to meet one, everyone has narcissistic tendencies. I have been surrounded by abusive narcissists, which is why I am a subscriber here. I appreciate that Dr. Vaknin does not promote victimhood, as victimhood is a form of narcissism. Cheers.

Have you read Dostoevsky's "Notes from Underground"? Most readers seem to think the unnamed protagonist is merely depressed but having watched your videos on collapse and self-supply, I suspect he is in fact a narcissist. I would love to see a video on this book being that your insights into "The Talented Mr. Ripley" greatly enhanced my viewing experience. Amazing video as always.

Prof. Sam Vaknin thank you for all of your videos. I look forward to every new addition and always watch to the end regardless of length - yes, even your longest videos or compilations! In this video you describe what seems to have happened to my husband of 17 years (N.B. He has ASD but prior to this diagnosis a psychologist suggested NPD) Towards the end of lockdown (we were in lockdown for months in our country) he transitioned from a highly sexualised person to a withholding asexual philosopher. He also became quite paranoid. I became very depressed during the lockdown and also started to complain bitterly about his emotional and physical withdrawal. He moved out in secret after I took some time away to focus on a work project. He now describes himself as a hermit but says he wants to be friends with me as I am one of the only people he can tolerate or relate to. He has said he knows we can never be intimate partners. This reminds me of the HRSE scale you mentioned in a previous video where one of the hoovering options is to try and be friends, but not partners. Can this transition to schizoid cerebral self supplying hermit described today co-exist with this friendship hoovering or are they inherently mutually exclusive? If they are inherently mutually exclusive would it be too much to ask you to talk more about what such a friendship might look like given that a relationship with a narcissist is already quite transactional and can be asexual if he is cerebral. If I might be so bold, I also have another question about the formation of the narcissist. Is it possible that the child might perceive the mother to be a dead mother when the mother is actually not? E.g. the autistic child can not always read non-verbal/social cues and can be sensitive to touch, so could it be that the child cannot receive or accept the nurturing from the mother? Alternatively, could physical abnormalities contribute E.g I have known people who as children had stomach tumours or tongue abnormalities which prevented them from receiving proper sustenance. I also know adults who as children had asthma or heart conditions which prompted the parent to limit the child’s freedom, discourage exploration and therefore to potentially inhibit separation from mother. All of these people, despite high intelligence experienced social or relational challenges that were attributed to mental illness or neurodevelopmental disorders. I acknowledge the many insightful references you have made to autism, autistic thinking and ADHD in several previous videos that have already touched on similar issues. In essence, is it possible that something within the child might be the inadvertent seed crystal for NPD? (Edit: necessitates the presumption that e.g. ASD & NPD can be comorbid)

I want to thank for making these videos because it is really helpful. I'm still not over my beloved one streamer guy, even after he used me only for sex which I offered him, he left me. I still stupidly believe he loves me and thinks about me. After 3 months since he blocked me, I still think about him and fantasize to meet him again! But now I can tell myself that he already forgot me. He doesnt even truely know who I am. I m slightly borderline and I still want him to come back to me so I can give him at least something so he doesnt leave me😅 Im not sure if it is love or some severe mental issue... I have real issues to forget him. After 5 years silence when I approached him again with my sexual offer he couldnt even remember me, it was very strange. I could not trust him anymore and it was very hurtful to write with him. But I still wanted to meet him. He only replied to me when he was drunk. And after he slept with me he instantly send me home (because he has light sleep and can not sleep when someone is around him...omg😅). It is not easy but its better not to pursue and try to forget and find someone else because second time it hurts even more. The video which says narcissist doesnt even remember you is ver helpful to deal with it

Sounds like a solar powered narcissist 😅 I think I’ve observed this transcendence in a few narcissistic acquaintances but had no idea they were self supplying; I was confusing it for them overcoming codependency in favour of some sort of evolutionary autonomy. Thanks Prof for an insightful video.

30 plus years married and 5 kids with a full proper Narcissist/Psychopath (beat me, played with me, cheated on me, obsessed over me, killed our dog in front of me lied about me used the children as leverage and kinda destroyed me 😅). After watching all of your stuff though I do believe I have had a lot to do with it. Question 🤔 was I always broken and that’s why he picked me (I was always punching above my weight) or did I become this person because of the relationship?

I have a strong suspicion (and my husband is sure) that she is a covert narcissist. She hits almost all points. Do you feel like mindfulness can be helpful for a narcissist to make positive relationships with other people, or as a treatment or cure?

What is the most significant work/research being done to help treat Narcissistic Personality Disorder? All of these years and nothing really works? Isn't there some way to dissolve the false self and to perform cpr on the inner child and bring them back to life?

I like the idea that you are able to provide your own self supply. This seems like something we should do when we are ‘performing’ as in sitting for an exam. Do you agree with this use of your strategy

The re directed sexual desire of the narcissist in becoming Cerebral, would this be similar to the healthy whole mind who chooses their spouse without the subconscious drive to extract this feeling of whole/complete from the external physical world- eg- Intimate partner? The turning inward toward the self is the ego ID integrating/merging as one with the higher conscious which is the purpose of separation and individuation in childhood?

Prof. Vaknin, 1. does the borderline experience excess of supply ? 2. is excess of supply in a love bombing phase the reason why a borderline may cheat ? Thank you in advance for your feedback

Can a person self-supply and also have external supply? Maybe vascillate between the two until self-supply fully takes over?

What role does developing a habit of self-honesty play in an attempt to heal? Does it only lead to self awareness? How does it affect reality testing? I imagine that using the conscious mind to retrain the subconscious mind to think correctly would lead to better outcomes where the individual is better grounded in reality.

I have watched my weak, sick, self-depreciating, eternally victimized mother self supply with her love for Jesus. She plays the most miserable of sinners game with great aplomb , seemingly to attract the Lords attention. She said once “I love Jesus so much, it’s almost romantic.” Imagine. The bride of Christ. I’ll bet she believes that her heavenly boyfriend is going to do much more than save her soul. so delusional.
