A huge red flag is the self promotion and declarations of themselves. They spend a lot of energy selling themselves. It often works and a certain percentage of people buy it, which further promotes this behaviour. Any bragging discourse is confusingly punctured with false humility. So much confusion. So much manipulation.
That's true with overt narcs but not necessarily with coverts where the narcissism is more hidden for a good amount of time. Overts can be communal narcs who are very giving and pretend false humility and play the victim.
This is all why everybody asks what the hell happened ? Was something beyond our experience. The day you realize how could they, that turns into how couldn't they, is when you have a good understanding of the pathology.
The narc that I once knew used to tell me that he doesn't fail! He was very serious and adamant about it and would go to any extent to not look like a "loser" -- no matter what -- which made dealing with him that much more dangerous!
I agree with this video 100%, but what I hate most about a narcissist is that they don't care who they hurt or destroy to get what they want. I am blown away on how selfish and childish they are. Just total evil. Thanks for the video.
@@LookingBehindtheMirror I have a question on narcissism that I was wondering whether if you might be able to help me with? I used to hang around someome whom Im beginning to wonder whether if he might be a narcissist. The reason that I'm considering this as a possibility now is because he habitually liked to contradict me each and every time when I'd discovered when various celebrities had undergone a drastic change in their appearance and would try to point it out to him. For example, on one occasion I was showing him a picture of this one particular celebrity who had obviously lightened their skin from being dark brown to an unnatural pale color and instead of accepting that they had obviously changed the color of their skin to an unnatural color he simply said " Maybe they just had a tan before ..." And then on another occasion I showed him a picture of a different celebrity whose physical appearance had also changed drastically only this time it was because they were suffering from a drug addiction that caused them to lose an unhealthy amount of weight and to look as if they had become very old over night and once again rather than admitting to being able to see that this other celebrity's appearance was in great decline he simply said 'He looks really good for someone with a drug addiction..." I asked him if he was being serious and he said "yes". I feel that in those 2 examples that I just gave of him that he was also "denying reality" but because I value your opinion so much more I wanted to ask you whether if you feel the same way. Does he sound like a narcissist ?
Narcissism is a consistent pattern of behavior. So it can’t be seen based on an isolated event. From what you’ve said, I think it would be far more relevant to see how your friend reacts when he realizes that you have different opinions. Narcissists tend to bully other people into agreeing with them on things like this. But all that aside, detecting whether or not someone is a narcissist is not as important as determining whether or not you like the way that person is treating you. That is really what matters.

I can't help but see the parallels of what you're saying with our "front and center" political situations right now. This post is not meant to stir any political divisiveness, its just a means to say, what this post is bringing up is on full display in our politics, and the great importance of educating ourselves & not just going along with someone else's false fantasy words/narratives that simply tells us what we want to hear, without facts and proof to back it up - spoken from a person that left a very consequential narcissistic relationship, and now separating from the narcissistic family of origin.
lol when you were giving the example of a narcissist denying they lost a race despite people recording and measuring, the first thing that came to mind was Trump LOL "rigged machines!'
