These people are nuts. Ive heard alot of stories about rock stars acting crazy and doing strange things but this band takes the cake by far. A truly, truly bizarre collection of human beings.
LMAO this is the first time I've actually seen nardwaur struggle to deal with a band and definitely the only time I've seen a band just strongarm the microphone away and play keepaway from an interviewer with it "I'm in control here" I bet that was the scariest thing he's ever heard as a professional. To be fair absolutely no one can cope with the butthole surfers, and Im very happy to live in the time period where they exist. These guys could freak out GG Allin, and I love them
I didnt understand that one, couse he aint playing with Reverend Horton Heat as far as i know and i checked in Internet aswell and nothing came out about Jeff playing with them and if Rubys Carousel Club is a band im not aware and i checked it out aswell and nothing came out so i dont know......
Honestly, I know they poke fun at classic rock but you can clearly tell they really do love the genre, to an extent. The way they speak of ZZ Top and how they actually know who The Moving Sidewalks (the band that was ZZ Top before they where zz top, kinda like The Quarrymen and The Beatles) and Roger Erikson says it all.
I think a lot of bands from this time have a big respect for zz top. the final track on SY's daydream nation , 'eliminator Jr z" is inspired by them. xiu xiu (more recently) also covered ZZ top
This interview was done on January 3, in Vancouver, Canada when the Butthole Surfers were opening for Nirvana as part of a 2 night stand in our city. (January 3 & 4 1994.) The next day Nardwuar interviewed Nirvana. (also available on Nardwuar's channel)
Yeah, could be the best one ever. Nard was taking and giving shit like a champ. BH Surfers were just fucking off on an interview, don't fully blame them.
@ Curtis. Just watched both interviews. Kim was boring as expected and thankfully not present at the second one. The other guys funny. The whole breaking the record thing and the mock ass kicking were funny. They were no more "rude" than he was. He insulted one their videos, they stayed with him and produced comedy scenster gold. Nardwur called Lee a "piece of shit". Fucking hilarious!
that one ary I was watching this on my laptop in my bedroom and my roommate came in and asked what nirvana interview I was watching lmao, he 100% sounds like Kurt. So trippy.
Butthole Surfers rules definitely and forever ! They're one of the wildest bands i ever saw, exception mede of PanSonic, which have now disappeared unfortunately, and also Big Black and Shellac, who took real rock 'n' roll up to a new height...
King Coffey seems like a genuinely nice guy. IMO, band's a shit-ton better than both Nirvana & Sonic Youth in both innovation and attitude. They were just too weird for the mainstream except for a couple of their tracks in the 90's.
The difference between Butthole Surfers and Sonic Youth is the Butthole Surfers knew when to play in key and when to make noise, Sonic Youth just made noise.
3:29 If you're saying "World Record Company of Canada", that was a pressing company not a label. But when you paid them to press your vinyl, they inserted their logo on the album back large enough to look more like the label name. My band Bomb's first album, the "To Elvis In Hell" LP, we only ever pressed 1000 copies, with World Records. It was on our own vanity label, "Boogadigga Records" (an onamonapia named after the sound of a beat Tony used in several songs...BoogadiggaBoogadiggaBoogadigga etc). but World Records, the presser, put their logo on our artwork bigger than where we had our label name. So some online listing list the label of "To Elvis in Hell" as "World Records." (Sleazy company, but catchy name when you think about it.)
I like the butthole surfers but I WOULD NOT trip with those dudes I feel like they would put you in a bad trip on purpose and just laugh about it while you are losing your shit. 😅😅
