I met primo twice at shows in BKK. second time he rremembered me and said something like "you're the only one here who knows all the records i play." haha was dope. Really nice dude.
Met him once in Denver before a show he was doing, I was so starstruck but he was so cool. Signed my Moment of Truth CD and I spit the first few bars of "Now You're Mine," my favorite Gang Starr track. That made Premo laugh with that hearty smoker laugh I'll never forget, he's the best.
William Trinidad Why correct him? its his opinion...... but i agree Dilla is the Goat, but Premier is a living legend and a master of hip hop! Show respect.
Just wow. Premier knows his shit and I didn't expect hip-hop to go this deep, like you think you've uncovered some good stuff but there's always another gem just waiting to be found
Gotta love Premier, been on him since Gang Starr, being a high level producer in the golden era of Hip Hop is something to say and hard to establish. He worked with Nas and Mobb on their first albums
Preemo is one of my favorite producers. I can always tell a Preemo beat, I dunno what it is but whenever I get an album and hear one of his beats I recognize it immediately. Only other producers I can usually recognize are El-p and 9th Wonder just because of the uniqueness of their sounds and since they're in my top 5 alongside Preemo, Ant and MF DOOM.
One of the best. DJs and Production people always have the deepest knowledge. To use a Canadian term, it's like goalies in hockey. They see more of the game.
DJ Premier/Gang Starr/Big L + Plenty more. DJ Premier a true Legend everything he produces is gold. He is the definition of iLL and nothing can compare. #undergroundhiphop #steezy #True
not me I don't get jealous of others it's wrong and I also grew up in the 70's 80's and 90's I just worrie about my self not other people's life's that's also wrong worrie about yourself and create your own story rather then be jealous about others you will feel much better about yourself not worrying about others
Brandon Ortiz don’t be jealous. Just listen to golden era hip hop when hip hop was hip hop. Not saying everyone was “real” when they said it, but when science was dropped, the 12 jewels and when it wasn’t all about $. When dancers still existed on a stage(not females in spandex or in bikinis).
Premier's knowledge of hip hop, breaks, funk, soul and black music history is encyclopedic. What he doesn't know probably isn't worth knowing. A true hip hop legend, and a pretty nice guy to boot.
I am only now becoming familiar with Nardwuar through these videos, I was just itching to hate him because of the look but sincerity and research into the people he interviews grants him immunity from scorn.
would like to see Nardwuar vs Tha Alkaholiks and Beatnuts cause they have a collabo album coming out called Liknuts that would be good cause they are both hip hop greats from the west coast and thr east coast
Dre isn't in the public eye much only when hes promoting something and he will only do it if alot of people are their or a big award show. Would be nice to have a good interview with him though,
Wow, I'm just trying to picture a college age DJ Premier watching Dr. Dre on the wheels of steel. Think about it, arguably the two best beat makers in Hip Hop, pre fame in the same room. Mind blowing.
