Holy crap, your observation skills are insane. For the whole time I was like "Stop it, you're spoiling yourself the whole show in the first 30 seconds how tf do even do that". Can't wait to watch more, your insight gives me another extra layer of appreciation for my favourite shows and I'm loving ever second of your over-analizing!
BRO IM ACTUALLY BLOWN AWAY, by the amount of analysis your putting in. And its not the dumb english teacher kinda analysis either. I loved this anime so much, and now going back and seeing what i missed, or learning new things about the anime is sucha joy. I'll be on this journey with yall to the final episode.
An expert reacting to one of my favourite animes of all time? Boy, you’re in for a treat, especially with the characters and story of this series. Already from your analysis, I think this will be an anime you’ll enjoy because it has so many symbolism either text or imagery. Hope you enjoy!😊
Wow, that breakdown of Lena's introduction... An immediate subscription! I'm gonna love this over analysis cause this show deserves! Also I see you're watching Oshi no Ko as well so I'll look forward to that too
Rare to see a reaction take a show frame by frame and give their thoughts on it and break it down at such a level. I enjoyed listening to your thoughts and reactions to this show. I look forward to hearing your thoughts more often, cheers ^_^
I’m glad you like the episode. It’s an adaption of a Novel and the Director (his directing debut) really cared about the adaptation. Our lead Vladilena has the voice of Kita from Bocchi the Rock. Like Bocchi the Rock, 86 is/was a passion project with many newcomers. Bocchi had new voice actors (except Kita because her only major role was Vladilena) and a new director that only directed individual episodes before. Speaking of the people behind production 86 is the same. I love passion projects. If you love them too and judging by Bocchi and 86, you seem to, you should look out for them or ask your audience. Speaking of passion, Kill La Kill in 2013 was the first project Trigger did after splitting with Gainax because of creative differences. Kill La Kill is passion.
1:54:37 "....tragically good." Oh. Oooooh, the fucking irony of that statement. 86 is, and will remain, one of the gods damned best animes. I am so blessed and traumatized by that first watch through, I'm like a different person afterwards.
Fun fact, Lena's mom says "Going to play with the cattle again? You need to quit the military and get a husband." It's not in the anime, but in the novel. Yup. Zero Republic casualties, cause those people aren't real people. You can't be a person if your basic human rights were taken away- Oh Shin doesn't get the handlers to sympathize. He basically lets them hear what he hears 24/7. Asato Asato is the author of the novel. It was a one shot that had won a contest. Now it is a full blown masterpiece. Also just letting you know, Shin has been fighting the legion since he was 10. He's 15 here. Lena is 16.
Btw, I don't know if anyone in chat will mention this at some point, but Lena is played by the same VA as Kita and Kurena is played by Nijika's VA. Also Bocchi's VA is in this at some point as an extra
Omg this anime is just incredible and so moving, the production of the anime is insane, the staging, the dialogues, the symbolism, the characters and the music are just incredible. This anime touched me
I love the analysis, Lena is wonderful, the society is like another character, the mirror scenes, and you' ll be even more traumatized..xd It's a great anime : )
First time encountering your channel- guess the Algo knows me well enough to accurately guess that I'll click on anything 86-related that looks interesting. First off- I love this. At the time of writing, we'd been watching for over half an hour and were 2 minutes into the show. I don't think we can get much deeper. But I will say- it's a very bold choice to do this with a live chat that you're actively reacting and responding to! Fear of spoilers alone would make it unthinkable, and a few people are already being quite cheeky in the chat. You must really trust your community or just simply not care about spoilers!
Yep haha it can get tricky with spoilers. I would say that I do care about them but I care much more about character development spoilers than story/plot ones. My audience has grown and changed a lot since these vods as well and they are usually pretty respectful, or at least know how to avoid saying too much that I would actually get spoiled on something.
@@eurobrady Cool! I'll look into it! Since I have you here I have to ask: Have you seen March Comes in Like a Lion? It's my all-time favorite anime. It doesn't get a ton of coverage but everyone I know who's seen it loves it to death and I think it'd be the _perfect_ show for you to dig into!
Your video should get more views because this was extremely interesting! The way of thinking of a professional made me love the show even more, although it already was my favorite anime. Watched it all and I love the way you analyze even the finest of details ; eighty six is the perfect anime to do that on. Thank you for your input and I'm looking forward to episode 2!!!
I wonder if Brady will start paying more attention to the dates as the series continues. They're essential for helping orient yourself in the story. For example, he thinks the conversation with Jerome and then Anette is a flashback (which would be an unusually long flashback in a story like this), but it's actually a flash forward. The date first time she interacts with Pleiades is May 13, but the second time we hear them talk it says May 20.
The second you mentioned self reflecting by looking at ones hand, I looked at my hands and started reflecting on all my bad choices I've done in life. Thanks...
I really liked your analysis, I love this show and your perspective made me enjoy some scenes even better. Very insightful and your predictions are scarily spot on at times haha. From your reaction to this episode I can tell you are gonna love the rest (and I would also really like to see your analysis for the rest of the series, some scenes near the end in particular) so I hope you continue with it!
@@bthsr7113there was a commentary of one of the episode that sold a model kit I think I know this because mother's basement made a video on 86 and he bought one
I absolutely love 86, one of my favorite anime of all time. I even read the light novel (currently up to vol.10, out of 11 translated) and bought a figurine of Lena :P. New to your channel, but i have been enjoying seeing analysis of all the symbolism in 86, and seeing a 2 hour long analysis seems intriguing to me. EDIT: How in the world in just like a minute in you already predicted so much about the series dang lol. Watching you talk about the frames, analyzing, and predicting just makes me appreciate this series so much more
This is some incredible analysis I just stumbled upon and I'm looking forward to more. The only think I can think to mention that you didn't is that it's heavily implied that the handler we heard yelling in the first battle scene is the previous handler for Spearhead squadron.
This should be standart for reactions: Not just staring into the camera for 20minutes, laugh once or twice, look shocked sometimes and at the end be like: jep, that was it, very cool - turn in next time, BYE! A Reaction should add to the work instead of just reuploading the content in question. If you want to watch the Anime, go watch it in its original form.
Let's face it, there's always a stigma when it comes to mecha show. The moment most people see the "mecha" tag, they are immediately turned off. Gundam have been suffering the same stigma for years, and 86's story borrowed a lot from Gundam and other mecha sources as per the author's words. When it comes to mecha anime in this modern time, you'd be lucky if it gets some buzz at all.
I enjoy listening to you and Ed breakdown, analyze, and go through your thought processes when you watch an anime. As you've said, everything in a work is about what is shown and what is omitted, two sides of the same coin. Because everything, every word and every scene is intentional. Whether the author makes something out of the words they choose or the director makes something out of the scene they compose is another matter. I picked up on quite a few things watching 86 and I love the show, but watching others analyze and breakdown scenes plus watching you do it here makes me have even that much more admiration and left in awe by the writer of 86 and the director of the anime Toshimasa Ishii for his brilliant cinematography. This show tells you so much without words and trusts its audience to be able to pick up those cues and clues without spoon feeding it to you and its done in such a phenomenal way. There are so many tiny little things that you catch that showcase what the author was trying to convey and how the director adapted that for the anime that I had missed. I look forward to watching more when future episodes are uploaded to RU-vid as well as more Witch from Mercury on RU-vid.
86 is such a great series. It quickly became my top favorite show, knocking The Fruit of Grisaia from number one. Also a great show with a ton of trama.
Hoooooo boy you’re in for a treat, this show is absolutely the best social/racial commentary I’ve ever seen. Not to mention how absolutely on-point it’s commentary on the horrors of war
It still baffles me how a split second shot of a foot can be called degenerate... I don't even think about it until someone brings it up but people really look at something like that in a weird way, huh. It's just feet
Say you're not looking for a big brain show and puts on 86. I think you've been duped. 2 hour video says you've noticed. Can't wait to see your take on this one!
I’m normally not a fan of twitch chat being a part of reactions since they tend to kinda guide the reactor to what’s happening, but people playing that Re:Zero sound was just way too fucking funny
What a fucking excellent video, my god. I discovered 86 about 12 months ago (and your channel about 2 hours 2 minutes ago!) and have watched it three or four times in that window. This was such an enjoyable watch, and so interesting to hear your thoughts, theories, opinions, and enjoyment shining through. I see you've the first cour uploaded already (do you have an ETA for the remainder at this point?) and will watch them all from here out, but commenting on this alone I think two things about the source material to screen adaptations are really impressive: the source being novels rather than manga means the world building is well developed and defined, which really aids us here; there is therefore no hard and fast depiction of 'this is what X scene looks like', making every shot in this show a creation of the director (sans the prose descriptions in the source, at least). Truly such an impressive piece of work, and 20 years after I entered the medium it is well clear at the top for my personal rankings. Thank you for these videos, and I hope (and shall shortly see!) that you enjoy the rest as much as both I did, and as you have in these last few hours. My compliments to the chef, dude!
Aw thank you so much! I'm really glad you found the video and enjoyed it so much. 86 is like no other show I've seen, just S class storytelling from top to bottom. We have already finished the show actually on stream, I've just been extremely busy this season with life stuff so I'm really behind on uploads. I will have a lot more time now throughout the rest of the year so I'll have the second cour up much faster than the first one. Thank you for sharing your thoughts, and hope to see you in a live stream someday soon!
I'm reading the light novel series of 86 Eighty Six, and watching this analysis, such a double whammy bc there was a lot of foreshadowing and yes, amazing editing/story telling by the anime. The books obviously go more in depth on x,y,and z but still the anime was kind enough to at least give hints. So good 👏 👏 👏
Wow! As a big fan of this show I really appreciate those great reactions of yours. I discovered 86 after recommendation from a friend. I am so grateful I was able to watch it. I am learning so many new things about it from your reactions. Greetings from Poland!
I am enjoying this. I'm reading the light novels too. I am thoroughly enjoying how accurate you are in picking everything a part and its a joy to see. I will be watching more of your reactions, analysis and will check out your twitch too soon tm. First the binging must happen XD. spoilerish semi lore below since its not explained fully. spoiler(?): The handler we hear in the intro was getting the full package from Shin due to being a very cruel person towards them. Sight, hearing, smell, touch and taste. So he was experiencing the exact same thing as that pilot without the pilot's combat experience. So he was driven to resignation and then suicide as we hear from both Lena's uncle and Annette.
I just came to take a look, only to sit and listen to you for the whole two hours xD That was unexpectedly awesome, I hope you'll enjoy and "React" to this show until the end.
1:34:00 Now I know therapists also need other therapists to check on themselves time to time especially ones who are simping a non-existent 2D character 😆
1:24:44 In war they wouldn't use something as complicated as a phone, they would use radio, but they seem to get much better audio fidelity using this neural link so it seems like the better option, also I'm pretty sure the neural link can't be jammed like radio could
Gosh, I'm really glad I took two hours to watch this reaction, it was SO WORTH IT. It's really nice how you can appreciate all the hidden messages the staff put there with the visuals, the transitions, the music, everything. Also, your insight is INSANE. It's getting really hard to avoid leaving spoilers in the comments, but well. I'm gonna be looking forward the next episodes! Seriously, this series only gets better and better, trust me
i dont regret watching a single second of this, your skill of analysing and picking up so many things amazes me and i learnt a lot myself. i hope you do attack on titan one day. for me its top 1 for sure
As always, I really like your in depth analysis of whatever anime you watch but I can't help myself from thinking 'what if brady analyzes hellsing ultimate' (each OVA episode is almost 1 hour long) haha
This series reminds me a lot of Finnish war movies (my country). The soldier are seen in very human way and one is fighting against an overwhelming enemy. Many will die, some painfully. (In Finnish case, Finland defending itself against the invasion of Soviet Union during the WWII)
This video is what got me to start reading the novel. Also I feel like The Republic is a broad criticism on Xenophobia in Japan though I'm not sure on that one
I love this series 🩷 nice video. I would love you made something similar ti fruits basket, you have a lot of material to analise. This is my first attempt to make you watch it.
Edit: Sorry if this got a bit preachy. I love this show, and I love your breakdown of it. What you said about our country just really resonated with me. I'm an American, but I was born in a nation that would not exist without American intervention in the 1940's and 1950's. I believe in the ideals that we hold sacred, yet consistently fail to live up to. I deeply sympathize and empathize with your observations about our nation. I love the Idea of America, and I love the Land and the People. But I hate our current culture, I hate our politicians, and I hate our neo-aristocracy. Corporate Feudalism is simultaneously incredibly American and antithetical to our enshrined values.
I saw this reaction yesterday and decided to look at a few minutes, because 2 hours are simply to much to watch in a single take. Two hours after, I simply had finished the entire video. You've found a lot to talk about, both from the narrative and the therapy point of views. Also, the action is good and the OST is awesome!
How do you turn 1 episode of an anime into a 2 hour reaction? Edit: After the first 15 minutes I now know how you can turn 1 episode of an anime into a 2 hour reaction. Edit 2: How did this guy guess what would happen in the end of the second season from less than 3 minutes of the first episode
Great video, but his chat is so lame, what’s up with all these backseating/blantant hinting, to the level of confirmed/denied right after he finished talking.
I came here specifically to watch this reaction by you, but I think you are missing something: if you thing that in reality (I get what you are saying in the case of war propaganda, and I agree) if your enemy is weak then you do not need to fight against them, then give a knife to 5 y.o., ask them to stab you and just stand and wait. You will quickly find out that you need to defend yourself even from the weaker enemy.
I binge watched your oshi no ko videos now I'll binge watch 86 reaction. I'm hoping you will analyze code geass one day 39:01 ethical drones sounds like an oxymoron does it not? Like using drone strikes when we know innocent bystanders will be in the crossfire is not ethical. It cant be
It's definitely coming! I'm just very busy with life right now so haven't had as much time to stream, edit, and upload. But I'm hoping to have a bit more free time soon :)
ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-vxn0yQQQI6Q.html, FWIW, Mobile Suit Gundam 0083 Stardust Memory has zero tomatoes. Kou Uraki hates his carrots, though.
