I've recently spent 40 plus minutes waiting for a livaboard to get his boat out of a winding hole because he didn't know which way to use his bow thruster. His friends on another boat looked embarrassed to know him. I'm an ex hire boater and can say I've never been as bad as any of these on here.
I don't really know how they make such a meal of it. I think the main thing that leads to trouble is the fact that it steers from the rear and in general you can steer with forward thrust but not really in reverse. We've spent many an evening watching people trying to moor or do 3 point turns on the broads and its quite entertaining, especially if theres a tiny tide or wind. Still, we all have our own stories to tell of mishaps.
@@NarrowboatSuperB welll I may have brushed a bank or two lol, but I have, in my 3 years of cruising, been hit by other boats (once head on) had a lock 'stolen' from me and witnessed acts of stupidity that are too numerous to mention. But it's still the most fun you can have at 3mph.
some people don’t have to worry about certain on-land fixed responsibilities, they can happily move aboard a boat, families, pets and all. Except than woman in the first clip… she was running from the cops with that speed 😂 I don’t know about the vegan thing, I think a big part of that is that the waterways shaped them live a somewhat a more organic lifestyle.
Not weird at all. Many people need to hide away and the canals are very effective at being untraceable on. Just because your life is OK doesn't mean for others it is. There are myriad reasons why people choose boat life. You can't consider what others do through your prism of life
@@NarrowboatSuperB oh yeah 90 degree bend, they hardly use horns.they lose it on the bend and ram into boats or the bank, best part its 200 yards from where they pick the boat up
