You know what’s so good about your vlogs? They’re very relaxing no matter what you’re doing either, crushing, doing the tourist thing, visiting friend/family, all so lovely, you can even make those horrible locks seem relaxed. Don’t be fooled people things can go wrong, surely every now and then you lose it guys. So good watching you three. 💕
Thanks Pauline. We are glad they are relaxing. Life definitely isn’t always roses and castles and it can be a hard life with getting water, finding places for rubbish but the rewards far outweigh this. Hope you have a great weekend . Very frosty here 🥶. Take care ❤️
@@NarrowboatLifeUnlocked. Bloody cold here to guys but absolutely no stance of snow sadly, that would be a first. We’ve had some huge rain though. Take care. 💕
Beautiful to see some lovely warm sunshine on this freezing November day. Just gorgeous. Anthony, “Towpath Tucker” an ideal sideline RU-vid channel for you 😂. Have a great week, stay warm and safe travels.
Hey Alan. It is freezing. Very foggy this morning too on the way to the gym and work 🥶. Love a good tow path tucker. Best way to eat food with boaty friends. Hope you have a lovely week. ❤️
Hi Paul, Anthony & Dexter, lovely cruise on the Staffs & Worcester. We were on the Macclesfield during that heat wave in September. Early morning was the best time to cruise to avoid the heat. We always enjoy following your adventures. Bryan & Donna
Hey guys. Good to hear from you. Love the Macclesfield. Such a beautiful canal. Definitely morning cruising when it is hot. Hope you guys are keeping well. Take care ❤️
Aww thank you Tracie. Glad you find them relaxing. The weather was lovely. I have been told I am not allowed to wear that t shirt 😂. Have a lovely weekend ❤️
Just playing catch up here - its been a busy couple of weeks in the new job 😊 i am just loving this series of videos guys, beautiful scenery and just great to see you getting on with your lives afloat. ❤❤❤
Welcome back Colin, hope the new job is going well. We were very pleasantly surprised at the scenery along this stretch, it just seems to get better and better. Take care Paul x
@@NarrowboatLifeUnlocked of course, this is (was) my part of the world before I started moving about so I'd be biased, but you are certainly making it look beautiful. 😁❤️
Great video again 😉 it’s quite comical really as we are watching we keep saying ‘we moored there or just a bit further up’ or Graham’s saying ‘do remember that part’ 😂 xx
Evening guys, Enjoyable vlog with you meeting up with new friends along the route, and enjoying a meal and drinks alfresco. The weather looked hot, so probably a good idea to sail early. Hope you had a good party with your friends Fiona and Jude. Hope everyone ok... Keep warm and enjoy the weekend. xx
Hey Bill. Don’t know why your comment was held for review. Nothing naught in it 😂. I love being able to have a drink outside in the evening. Best part of narrowboat life. We had a great time with Fiona and Jude. We are all good. Just been mega busy. Hope the cardio version is still good. Love to you and Russell ❤️ x
Another great vlog from you guys. Such beautiful countryside, just stunning. Loved Paul’s face when Anthony was talking tech 🤪🤪🤪not a clue! Ah well we all have our strengths and weaknesses. Have a great week ☮️
Hey Crichie. Thank you. It was stunning around there. He always glazed over when I talk batteries or solar 😂. We are all good at something though as you said and I am not great at art. Have a good week ❤️
These last two vlogs have indeed been in such beautiful country - spent alongside more friends, even better! Thank you for taking us along. We are huddled at mid-day -6 C, going down to -11 C this evening, so your t-shirt days look delightful!
Thank you. We really have been spoilt. Things always made better with friends. Brr, you definitely having cold weather. Getting cold here too (not as cold as you though) Have a great weekend and stay warm ❤️
I'm just getting caught up, guys. Lovely to see you and enjoy the lovely, warm & green countryside. It was 9°F here this am with about 4" of snow still on the ground! Hope you & sweet Dexter are keeping well.
Hey Kathy. Good to hear from you. 🥶, snow! We are supposed to be getting snow in the next few weeks. I love it, but only when I don’t have to travel in it. Hope you have a lovely week ❤️
Beautiful scenery! I loved the first locks with all the red bricks and the little tower. I sometimes think about your electrical setup (love to geek out on stuff like that) and wonder if a more direct system not mediated by so much software, programming, etc. might make for a more in-control set-up. Maybe the older electric boats without so much software involved could be instructive? (I guess you guys are on the cutting edge involved in testing out the new stuff. Electric Lab Rats Afloat (Liam is the Mad Scientist). 🤣I hope you three have a wonderful week.
It really was pretty James. I agree re the set up. Software can sometimes cause issues and I am all for keeping it simple. Liam is looking for a solution and hopefully we can get everything resolved. That would be a great new channel name 😂. Hope you are keeping well. Have a lovely week ❤️
Aww love a toasted tea cake Jan. Didn’t know you couldn’t get them over in Oz. We had great September weather, very cold now though 🥶. Have a great weekend and take care ❤️
We did bratch locks last Oct, was lockies on the way down, but none on the Sunday when we went back up so did it all myself while hubby steered. It was useful that the lockies had explained it to me on way down. Made perfect sense then to do it going up... I was however running back and forwards doing each bit 😂
Hi Paul, Anthony and Dexter-Dog. I was very impressed with Paul's knowledge at the start of the Vlog😀 What a beautiful area you are in. That was kind of Paul to help the Look Keeper with the locks. Dexter looked so cute sprawled on the grass under a tree for shade. Shame Dexter was scared off by a horse. Bless him. I find your solar issues fascinating, and am very sorry you have had such issues. Do you think the fact that your solar cells are laid flat on the roof and not on an angle facing the Sun, could be losing you valuable watts? I like the way Paul mansplained to Anthony that Solar came from the Sun😄. I smiled again when Paul asked you, if you had your keys as you were about to ride into the Sunset to get your van. You have great banter with each other. Loved your evening meal on the towpath. That was nice when you both went for Breakfast, and Dexter was given some sausages. How kind was that? Both your perfect and skilled navigation entering into narrow walled locks without touching the sides was noted, well done. Loving the editing. Liking the green graphics. Your choices of music fit perfectly with the on-screen footage. Another great and very entertaining Vlog. Thank you very much. Sorry you had battery issues again at the end of the Vlog. Certainly very testing, as Anthony said. Paul's comments about getting divorced made me laugh (don't do it).Take care Spoolbox.
Hey Spoolbox. Paul did well remembering those facts. Dexter loves lying on the cool grass. Can’t believe he was startled by the horse. There used to be a pony near where we lived and he loved it. He went up wagging his tail and crying and they used to nuzzle each other. The solar is definitely less efficient not being able to be angled. We had some Lovely tow path tucker. What for those warm evenings again. I love it when the cafe brings Dexter something too. The batteries have since been replaced and they seem to be behaving better. We are having a major overhaul of our system on Jan so fingers crossed that resolves the remaining issues. It definitely caused a few arguments, which isn’t like us at all. Have a lovely weekend ❤️
Do not move into a house. I love your escapades on the water. Hope you are now moored somewhere for the winter as the weather is really going to cool down. Keep happy and well.
Thanks Nigel. We aren’t going back to a house. We love boating life. We are still cruising and hoping to get somewhere nice for Christmas. It really has gone cold now. Take care and thank you for your kind comments. ❤️
Such lovely scenery and warm too, 32 at night inside though...yuk! (hope you had a fan!). We're still trying to get rid of winter here in Sthn South Australia. Loving your journey *hugs*
Thank you. It really was a great cruise that stretch. It is amazing how hot the boat gets. Hope the warm weather comes to you soon. Have a great weekend ❤️
As always, such a lovely relaxing video,,,,,Thank you. My wife said to me,,,,, Anthony has lost weight. I agree with her,,,,, bordering lithe is the word!! Well done young fella!!!
I think this must have been the greenest, most lush canal you’ve cruised on. The scenery is simply amazing. I had completely forgotten about the Saharan sand and had not put it together about your solar panels, where the sun provides the solar power. Thanks for the info Paul. I did love the video portion of the videographer getting an actual encounter of Anthony up and on tiller before 9A!! Anthony, we know you are in healthcare. You must be in radiology or nuclear medicine where amperage/wattage/ohms/jueles/ and percentages are important. I’m in the Paul club: in one ear and out the other! You two are just the best at canal vlogs. As always, I very much appreciate the route information and the ability to follow along. Really enjoyed seeing Anthony maneuver the boat at Ebstree lock. It gives a perspective of what is difficulty but made easy by your expertise. Thanks for bringing us along. Cheers.
Thank you so much for your lovely comment. We absolutely loved this stretch of canal. It was just so beautiful and amazing weather too. The sand just covered everything. You soon get used to the locks, although some can be tricky. I do work in radiology. My masters degree is in MRI but so retrained some years ago and now do ultrasound 😊. I am a little geeky. 😂. Paul just glazes over. Thanks for coming along with us. Hope you have a lovely week ❤️
What lovely scenery! I can see why that lock won the green flag award, very picturesque - I really enjoy seeing the reflections in your skylights, it really gives a neat 360 ° affect
Thanks Catherine. It was lovely weather but now very cold now 🥶. Guess we should expect that for this time of year. Glad you enjoy our vlogs. Have a lovely week. ❤️
I hope this isn't an unpleasant question to ask, but do you guys feel it was worth it, getting this new technology on your boat? Seems like you've had issues since you first set off after the boat show. Granted, we're not seeing every day, but there have been a number of times now when you've lost power or something is just not working properly. How does this experience compare to starting out in the previous boat with the traditional engine, etc.? You're handling this far better than I would. I'd be throwing in the towel, if not something much less soft 😁. Anyway, I hope your battery issues get sorted out soon. Really enjoy your videos! Gentle hug to Dexter Dog.
Not an unpleasant question. We have had days when we wished we had stuck with diesel but we do feel like the problems are slowly getting sorted and Liam has a plan. He has swapped out the batteries and the new ones seem to be performing better. The solar is getting sorted in January, 🤞.Dexter is fast asleep bless him. Have a great weekend ❤️
Hi Anthony, Paul and Dexter. Always a pleasure to catch up on your weekly vlog. What I like is the footage of the greenery and the lovely sunset! Love how the many experiences you are clocking in and the friendships you have made. Heartwarming lifestyle! Looking forward to seeing your next vlog! Have a great week ahead!❤❤❤❤
Thank you. It definitely is the friends you make along the way that make the journey so special. The boating community is amazing and we have met some lifelong friends. Thank for checking in and watching. Hope you have a lovely weekend ❤️
Good morning you three. What fun adventures this week. Sorry for you issues with the solar hoping Liam gets sorted soon as it must be challenging. You guys just crack on! The temperatures are like we have still had until about 2 weeks ago. Im sure your are having much cooler by now. So nice for you guys to have fellow cruisers sharing time together along the way (especially wine and cider). You guys take care and enjoy a lovely weekend! Special love to Dexter! Your friends across the great blue pond. John, Dean, Johann & Greta
Hey, we are hoping the issues we have will be resolved in January whilst we are away. Fingers crossed. The temp definitely has reduced. We had a white blanket of from this morning. It looked stunning. We always love to meet up with fellow boaters, that is what this lifestyle is about. Hope you guys are keeping well. Have a lovely weekend . Hugs to you both and chin scratches for Greta and Johann. ❤️
Loved the vlog..that canal is very pretty….sorry you are having so many issues with the boat…I think you have been very patient. Makes you wish you had a diesel engine !
Hey Morten. The canal was beautiful. We are hoping we are starting to turn a corner with the boat. We have had the same thought re diesel! Hope you have a lovely weekend and are keeping well ❤️
A lot of full time RVers in the US have AC and they are powered pretty much like the narrowboats with solar and lithium batteries. . Though you normally don’t get such hot spells in the UK it might be worth it to look into AC as I think the weather is going to hotter as we go on. However…..the power problem would need to be sorted first. I sure hope Liam can figure it out , it must be a pain in the butt to always be wondering if you’ve it’s fixed or not. 🫣🤬 Nothing new here this week, daughter was away on business for a few days so it’s was kids and pet minding for me. It’s tiring and I had a very painful few days prior to a big storm, the changing barometric pressure really effects my bones and joints. Parents have taken over today so I’m resting and doing my own thing, listening to a book, playing with kittens and some needlework. Family all just left for Basketball practices so it’s lovely and quiet. Now if I had a chef and a staff to meet my every need or whim I’d be in heaven. 😂 Have a lovely weekend 🥰🙋🏼♀️
Hey Dawn. Sorry for the late reply but you comment was held for review for some strange reason. We did look at AC but it was decided the power consumption was way too much for the boat (guess we don’t get quite the same solar as some places abroad). Liam has changed our batteries and they seem to be behaving much better. The solar is getting sorted in January fingers crossed. It definitely is a pain. Sorry to hear your joints are playing up. That is trying to keep up with the kids 😂. Good you are relaxing. I would love staff too. Let me know if you find anyone reliable 😊. Have a great week ❤️
Thanks guys for taking us along on this very summer like cruise and it's difficult to believe that it was only two months ago as it is frozen now. I hope that you three are doing well and have a great week ahead. Take care and all the best. Stevie
Definitely a change of weather Stevie. Everything covered in frost the other morning. Looking forward to longer days again. Thanks for coming along with us. Have a lovely week ❤️
It’s always a bit nostalgic watching you cruising on a beautiful summer’s day as I’m snuggling under a blanket in front of a fire. I’m sure it is for you, too. I’m hoping all these issues with your boat get resolved once and for all. It must make you feel insecure in a way. 🤞Sending warm wishes from the frosty Rocky Mountains. 🙌😘🐶
Hey Michael. Yep, same for us, very frosty this morning, everything under a white carpet of frost. We are having some major work done in January so I am hoping we can draw a line under it then. It does make us paranoid to be honest. Have a great weekend ❤️
Agree the canal has looked lovely, the sunshine helped, but most canals have their lovely parts, we are spoilt really with the beautiful scenery. Good to see the cafes, food, drinks, tow path tucker ( love that name) were prominent again. Its great Liam can test and review "at a distance" and then solve. I like to cruise early, less busy, easier to find moorings and time to explore, although in the colder months there can be frost and ice on the locks etc. You'll definately have to wrap up now, keep warm you three xxx
It was beautiful Susan and I agree, all canals have their charms. Love a bit of tow path tucker. It is good Liam can dial in. Paul prefers to travel in the morning but it isn’t for me. Definitely getting cold now. Have a great weekend ❤️
Hi guys, followed you from the start it’s clear you’re getting frustrated with your teething problems, I’m sure all will be well in the end! I’m from Chester do tell which is your favourite eatery?
Hey Tim. Thanks for following the channel from the beginning. We are getting very frustrated but we confident that Liam has a plan and we are hoping it will all be sorted in the New Year. Love Chester. I used to work at the Countess many moons ago. My favourite eatery in Chester is Hickory’s Smoke House. They are dog friendly which is a massive plus. 😊 Have a fab week ❤️
There sure has been a lot of faffing around with your electrical systems. I really hope it's all sorted out once and for all before winter arrives! As always, it was a pleasure watching your adventures. Cheers lads!
Cheers Mike. Work commences whilst we are away in January. This works well to be honest as we don’t have to find alternative accommodation. Fingers crossed that is an end to it. Have a lovely weekend ❤️
@@NarrowboatLifeUnlocked Good luck to you! I expected there to be a few kinks to iron out with such a new system. Hopefully this is the end of it now 👍
I remember the warm weather 😅 freezing tonight. Dexter is a darling and we do hope the solar problems etc get sorted for you. So good to see you catch up with friends and a beautiful canal. Lots of love from us 3 ❤❤❤
I do too Jacqui. Bloody freezing now. Dexter really is a sweet boy. The solar is meant to be getting sorted January. Fingers crossed. We had a fab time. Love to you guys too and belly rub for Thelma ❤️
Nice scenery and cruising Anthony & Paul. Currently we are going through 10 days of over 35, except yesterday it was so still and cool, which helped the firies put out fires threatening homes in Perths northern suburbs. They have lost 18 in the fires. Currently today we are under water restriction usage in the perth area. So fans are basically all we can use. Today 39, tomorrow 38, I actually went out at 6 am yesterday it was 21 and cold haha no it was beautiful, which you’ll see in the future. Take care, enjoy travelling in the cool now. Have a good week. Hug for Dexter. ❤️❤️🙏🙏
Hey Katelyn. It was beautiful, almost wish we had that weather again. Blimey, 35 🥵. Good to hear cooler weather will help with the fires. 😔. That’s rough with no AC! 21 sounds like a nice temp. Hope you have a lovely weekend. Just gone out with Dexter and everywhere is covered in frost, the stars are amazing though. ❤️
I feel for you. We hired an all electric boat on the Broads back in April, never again. It cut out going down river and ended stranded across the river. Bow thrusters would not work. Then all of a sudden the engine kicked in.
Great video as always dexter looks so well you and them pain in bum battery's lucky the boat company work don't go by your videos as they go bust with all problems you had with your boat hope they fix soon you been lucky with weather it rained none stop in Daventry most of September keep up great vlogs have great week
Thanks Nicholas. Dexter is great for his age bless him. We are confident the boat company will sort out the problems. They have a plan for January, so 🤞. Sorry you had bad weather, September was mostly good for us. Have a great weekend ❤️
Good evening guys . We could do with them warm September days back again Very cold here today. Hope you have now managed to get your solar power finally sorted .sate safe and keep warm .
Hey Dave. Definitely could do with those warm September days again. Sunny here today but freezing 🥶. The solar still needs sorting but is hopefully going to be done in January. Hope you have a good weekend ❤️
Hi Paul and Anthony…..I do enjoy cruising along with you guys and seeing the beautiful countryside you are lucky enough to call home. Some of the canals you have recently been on are so beautiful. Living down here in Devon and coming originally from Cornwall, this is something we don’t get to see at all. An idyllic lifestyle in many ways, but one you both have to work hard at to maintain. Have a good week. Best wishes Julie 😊Hi to Dexter
Hey Julie. Many years ago, we nearly moved to Cornwall. So beautiful. We are lucky to see such amazing scenery and living in nature. Devon is a beautiful part of the country. Hugs given to Dexter. Have a lovely weekend. ❤️
Great video - you are being very understanding with the problems regarding electric propulsion. I would be a little frustrated by all the niggles. Hopefully the boat builder can sort it out soon. The winter is now upon us.
Thanks Patrick. I was starting to loose patience to be honest but we have come up with a plan. Fingers crossed it all gets sorted in January. Winter is definitely upon us. Have a lovely weekend ❤️
Thanks guys for a smashing video. I'm so envious of the camaraderie you get on the canals. I'm also going out for a meal to celebrate my birthday on Monday. All the best my friends. Bye for now ❤ Stephen
Hi Paul and Anthony, do you know Heidi and Bonny she sells badges and a few other things she’s the pirate winch. Anyway keep up the good work. Love your Videos Cliff from Logan City Queensland Australia 🇦🇺🧑🏾🦽
Thanks guys. Outstanding background music choices. Personally I don't think you need to Ffwd the videos but of course I would be okay if they were 2 hours long. Paul? No shots of the bolongnese ? You can't tease us about it with no video. 😉 Hope Liam has fixed the solar situation by now. Hugs Dexter.
Thanks Greg. Glad you are enjoying them. Sorry we didn’t show the bolognese. The solar situation is still ongoing but unfortunately but they have sorted the batteries. We are getting the solar sorted in Jan 🤞 Dexter is fast asleep in front of the fire. Have a great weekend ❤️
Lovely cruise indeed so picturesque. Would the battery situation be better if you had one big battery pack as in an ev or like a Tesla Powerwall ? I was surprised at crick that all the lithium batteries were small ones linked together but didn’t think it would make such a difference. Hope Liam sorts it for u. Best wishes and keep warm guys. ❤
Thanks Trevor. I guess there are advantages and disadvantages of a single battery. If it went wrong then we would have no power but with multiple batteries, we still have 3 more if one goes bad. Liam has replaced our batteries and 🤞 they seem ok. Have a great weekend. ❤️
Are you disappointed at the issues you seem to be constantly having with the Solar system and having to use the generator? . Been watching from your old boat, and since you had your new boat and you do seem to have a lot of teething issues. I would expect some with a new system, but this seems to be quite a lot now. It’s good they deal with the issues but how long do you expect this to keep going on for?
We are a little disappointed to be honest. We weren’t naive and did expect some issues but not 6 months on. We are confident that Liam has a plan and that things will be resolved in the New Year. Hope you have a lovely week ❤️
Hey Guys. I know not all canals are as picturesque as the one in this video but, are the majority of the canals relatively nice? I guess I'm asking if it is relatively easy to avoid the not so good and really dangerous areas or are there times you just have to deal with them. I watch a couple of other narrowboat channels and it looks like there are some places that you wouldn't want to cruise through much less stay and I didn't know if they are numerous enough that they are unavoidable at times. Thanks for another enjoyable video. Take care.
Hey Roger. I have to be honest, all canals have their charms and we have definitely seen some beautiful ones. The bad areas you just plan to go fast through the area so it is reasonably easy to avoid the bad areas. There definitely are so less desirable areas and we were stuck in one area couple of years ago. Hope you have a lovely weekend ❤️
Happy Friday! 🥰 I'm late so your evening is just winding down. Another lovely vlog but the temps sound horrible. I just checked and it's 36 here at 5:15 PM and it's windy so it feels colder. Warmth sounds pretty good at the moment. I know there are advantages to being up early but I still don't like it. Sleeping is the advantage I like. 😊 I'm so excited about Doctor Who tomorrow! ❤ It's too bad about the solar problems. Any new tech is going to have issues though. Still a pain to deal with. Have a wonderful weekend and take care. ❤
Happy Friday Dorothy. Been freezing here today, sunny and dry though. Would love the warmth of September again. I am with you, love a good sleep. Not watched Dr Who for ages. May give it a go again. The solar should be getting sorted in January once and for all we hope. Have a lovely weekend ❤️
@@NarrowboatLifeUnlocked I really like Jodie Whittaker as an actress but not as the Doctor so I kind of let it slide after Capaldi. I did see her 3rd season on AMC+. To have Russell T Davies, David Tennant and Catherine Tate back is just the best thing and Murray Gold is back doing the music as well. I guess they are calling this 'season one' so it's a new start. It's a good time to jump back in. 😊
Anthony, I hope I’m not prying into you personal life but how do you juggle your career with boat life? I know you travel back and forth with your van so do they allow you to work at different facilities or do you always need to return to the same place?
Hey Jay. I only do 2 days now so it is much easier than when I was full time. They have been really good and allowed me to stay in Cheshire which has been the closest clinics to us. If we are more than an hour away I have been sleeping in my van and using the gym to shower. It works well but can’t wait until I can retire 😂. Hope you have a good weekend ❤️
Hi, we’re Mikey & Andrew, we’re great fans of your channel and have seen all your vlogs from the start and look forward to your news each week. We feel we’ve learned a great deal from your content along with a couple of other vloggers and this has helped us plan for our own change in lifestyle. We plan to make the move to a nb within the next year or at least commit to a build slot. Obviously questions arise from time to time which we would love to be able to ask people with real experience; hence our message! We have heard a lot about the big increases in the boat license over the coming few years and we’d love to know what you think about it. Can you share any thoughts please? Do you think it will push a lot of people to look for a “home mooring” to keep things cheaper? Thank you so much and keep doing what you do! ☺️☺️
Hey guys. Aww thank you for following our journey. We absolutely love our life on the canals. I am not sure that the data the CRT has used to increase license fee for continual boaters holds up to scrutiny (and I am a fan of the work the CRT do). I actually think it is targeting some of the most vulnerable people on the canal, many continual cruisers do so because they can’t afford a marina or home mooring. I think what is actually might do is create a larger proportion of people not to pay their license at all. Hope your future lifestyle change plans come to fruition. Best of luck and hugs from all of us aboard Morning Star ❤️ .
@@NarrowboatLifeUnlocked Thanks so much for your reply. Hopefully we will be able to pick your brains a bit more in the not too distant future, we are looking at Oakums and the electric setup they offer. ❤️
I have to ask. Paul, have you had a DNA test to see if you’re related to Jackie from Cruising on the Border. You have the same mannerisms, words and reactions to what you see. I think you’re long lost siblings.
