Thank you all for watching! Before anyone starts telling me off - the lock was open on the bridge to walk on , on one side so I was allowed on there. We didn’t realise it was a private road , we thought the roads off were for traffic but as boats were all moored along and there was a towpath we thought we were ok. Everything was safe ❤

I had someone driving around here on Halloween at 10pm+ somewhat nefarious but I don't post a sign saying no trespassing or Interdit or Verboten, most of the land with a post box it is obvious to most a driveway. But it is scary for elderly having people uninvited.

That’s unfair . This was a dirt path leading along the side of the canal. The lady did say that dog walkers use it and it wasn’t clear. There is the tow path then a stretch of private land and then the tow path again . There is a business with signage on for cars but it doesn’t say you can’t walk through the tow path. It’s a bit odd xx

Hi Helen Tony & Capt Brucie Oh my Giddy Aunt, did you get told off by that boat yard?😱. It isn't easy to understand is it? We eat our Tarlton Chippy Chips by the car park there. It's a beautiful place. And then we went for a walk. I'm a stickler for rules as I'm a 💩🏠😉. So was really uneasy going along that part of the Path. This lovely couple were coming the other way, and said " Oh it's ok, we do it all the time, it's mainly just about cars" So Gee'd on by this lady we went. All was well and we reached that lock, without any problem. I'll think twice about that now😳. But it is a weird setup. Especially as further up it leads to Henry Alty Way. Your new Journey sounds Fab, will look forward to seeing this. It is a worry with our older dog's isn't it? Our Ruby is 16 in April and suffers from Vestibuler Disease. We can only love and make them comfy in their Pensioner years can't we? Thank you for making us smile. You are a tonic. 👍🏼😊🐶🐾

It’s bizarre isn’t it there!! You don’t know you’re in the wrong place. It was a just a random woman with a man who told us off . Not the boatyard. The lady in the chippy wasn’t very nice to me - so we haven’t been back. Awww bless your dog xxx

The access is stranger!!!!! Even more bazaar is the website of the Inland Waterways Association which is advertising a walk on Saturday 11th March 2023. The walk ‘Tarleton and River Douglas Walk’. Starting from the bottom of Plocks Brow, that’s the area where waiting moorings are for Ribble Link are, from there along a new way marked route and joining the new Henry Alty Way promenade, it’s just the other side of the gate you referred to. This Alty Way is planned to go to the end of the branch at Burscough. Mind you Tarleton and Hesketh Bank does have it’s more than it’s fair share of odd bods

I can’t wait to see your adventures on the Ribble link. Think I’d be too scared though as can it not be a bit rough with the currents? At my cafe we offer cappuccinos with either chocolate or cinnamon but personally I prefer them naked 😮. That ‘fock atch ya’ bread looked delicious 😋. Love always ❤ x

Lovely vlog, you are a ray of sunshine and we love your humour. So jealous that you are heading for my favourite canal. Almost 2 yes since we bought Thomasina and still around Northampton 🙄. Had route and number of locks all written down for getting there...done twice as many piggin locks now and still in same area! This year I am praying we finally get there. Interesting vlog Helen, and where you are on your next travels. I’ve been on the Lancaster canal for a week on a hire Narrowboat. Nice scenery and no locks, and decent weather. Few years ago now. Is taste buds dog friendly. I’m certain it wasn’t last time I went. Have a good week.x

Hey Bill hope you’re well. We love the Lancaster. We used to be moored at the Moons bridge marina there years ago. It’s our fave canal. You can’t take dogs inside tastebuds , just outside . The boat house on the next marina is good and has huts outside you can take your dog in xx

Brilliant, we love the Lancaster Canal, we've had a couple of narrowboat holidays there..... As you say, no locks. Look out for youtubers Barely Floating, they live on the Lancaster. You probably already know. Have you watched a few boats doing the ribble link on RU-vid, looks a bit hairy but exciting. Can't wait for your vlog on that. Take care guys. 😊.

The map in that area is a bit odd as the Tow Path seems to be missing.

It’s bizarre isn’t it . You eventually get to a metal gate you walk through and apparently that’s the tow path again . It’s a confusing. The signs say no entry for vehicles.

Focaccia. In Wigan speak it's Focatcher, but you can call it fancy bread. Being told off by some jobsworth must have been embarrassing. Did he not realise he was addressing canal royalty? Or is that carnal jollity? I am deeply saddened to learn you are going up north on the Ribble link rather than east towards God's own County. It may be another 12 months now before you have the pleasure of me. Although I often stay in my son's airbnb in Sedbergh in Cumbria, which isn't a million miles from Lancaster and the Ribble Valley. Either way, my life will be in limbo until that fateful day when you get an audience with me. In the interim, one will have to make do with what it is. Like passing ships in the night. All you get is a parp on the horn. Ok, time for tea. Open a tin of soup and dip yer bread, it'll put hairs on your chest. Looking forward to your new adventure.
