I just realized something Kev Can. When Naruto inherited Hagoromo's chakra he gained the power of Yin-Yang releases. Now according to Tobirama one of things Yin-Yang releases is capable of doing is canceling out & neutralizing all other ninjutsu with no exceptions & that incudes curse marks.

Kev Can he got rid of the practice but the ones who already have the curse mark only get rid of the mark after their death.

I think they got rid of that, but they keep a curse mark so when a hyuga dies the byakugan cant be used by outsiders

Yes and no. I would think she would be, if Hinata had children first (Boruto and Himawari). Then Hinabi's children would be second branch with her. Then Boruto would be main house if he had kids, and Himawari would be branch.

I think it becomes a bit more complicated because of how they're dual purposes? if they were *all* branded then who would hold the ultimate position of power? and what would give them the ability to maintain and impose such power? by having a main branch they can keep tight control on the side branches through the leverage of being able to activate the seal. one purpose is for protection, one purpose for control. but what I personally find weird is that Hinata didn't get a curse mark after being '''''disowned''''', especially considering she was still training to be a shinobi which has a wayy higher risk of her dying or being targeted (considering she also been targeted in the past by another village to try and steal the bloodline secrets.) hiashi showing favoritism towards her perhaps?? ( but I agree tho, it's weird that the main branch never consider that *they* may be the ones to out their secrets, ego perhaps?? maybe they just never considered it is possible??? which would be weird considering how throughout they are with the design and functions of the caged bird seal) the whole situation has quite a few plot holes that don't really get properly explained which would be fine if the whole subplot actually went anywhere instead of being completely ignored after the chunin exams and dropped after Nejis's death :((

And what's worse is that they didn't even *actually* happen, Neji was 'cupid'-ed (Kishimoto's words, not mine) so that naruhina could *HOLD HANDS* over his (still warm) DEAD CORPSE. Like, if Kishi was going to kill off the only interesting Hyuuga for a fucking ship the least he could do was actually have them *get together* after the battle. Neij's conflict with how the Hyuuga clan ran itself was the only interesting thing about them as Hinata was completely complacent and didn't really care about the issue and none of the other Hyuuga were really given enough focus to explore anything. And they just,, dropped it. It just makes me so mad,,,,, all Neji wanted, his drive as a character, was *personal agency* , to no longer be a slave to the main branch and to (his ideas of) destiny. instead, he died with the fucking slave mark still on his forehead and with the title of 'Hinata *Sama* ' on his lips. Nothing changed.

@@agentm0thman951 I read a FanFiction story where the clans problems actually mean something and Hiashi trains Hinata and Neji to change the clan better with no more distinction between the branches and everyone main branch included gets marked.

@@starrsmith3810ooh that sounds interesting, do you have a link or the name of it?? i don't usually read Hinata-centric Hyuuga fic since they tend to paint her as the victim over Neji and demonize him for not liking her, but having her being marked as well would make quite an interesting shift in their dynamic that could explore them on equal footing! I've also read an interesting fic where opposingly, hizashi manages to free himself from the seal way before he would sacrifice himself in canon and also free's the rest of the clan after Neji gets branded before confronting his brother and the main clan when that plot-point does play out,, if you would be interested in reading smth like that?

i would assume that would be up to the clan leader. I do believe Neji did cut ties with the main family but, he is a special case. Seems like the clan runs their traditional ceremonies ungoverned by the leaf village policies since branding a curse mark on a child that can be used to enslave them seems cruel and it's open knowledge to the people of the leaf. To answer your question i do think they could leave the hyuga clan but, they will always cursed.
